Actually the biggest perk for the CT card is its ability to pay bills - property taxes, hydro etc that won’t be treated as cash advance plus 1% CT money
Id like to add how they cash backs are paid out. Bmo is anytime as long as you have at least $1 cash back balance. Simplii is annually, tangerine is every month and triangle is in canadian tire money.
Good info Tony. I’ve got the RBC Rewards + Visa. I feel it’s pretty good when combined with Ampli I made about $27 in two months with very little spending.
@@tonywang7778 i actually borrowed $1000 from my Desjardins card at 11% interest. Got two secured TD and HSBC cards with it. I’m making more in bonus points than the interest will cost. Plus I’m building a solid foundation for the future with these two institutions. I only wish B. Montreal and CIBC allowed me to do the same!
Awesome video ..... I have all of those cards except simplii ( Simplii does not have purchase alerts so I did not get it). I hope Rogers WE change back to what it was before. AMEX cashback is also good .125 % on everything and no fee but as you know AMEX is not widely accepted. Anyway, good selection of cards..... Great job!
5:05 Obviously the value of AP differs depending on how you use it, but in your case of valuing them at 2cpp, it would NOT have base return of 0.75%. Since the card is 1AP per $1.5 of spend on other category, it should be 1.33% return (0.02/1.5)*100.
Hi there I am looking for a cashback credit card for USD. I already have the Rogers World Elite. Is there a better? After fees I only get .50% cashback. I have super good credit.
Hi Samantha! Good question, Rogers WE was my go to as well. After the change it's definitely less attractive not to mention you need to spend 15k/yr on it just to not get downgraded. I've been using HSBC WE as it gives 1.5% with no foreign transaction fees.
@@tonywang7778 Can you please link me to this card? Can I still get that offer? How do you suggest I apply? And this is cashback on USD correct? Should I have a bank account opened up with them also? Thank you Tony!
@@samanthawayne728 www.hsbc.ca/credit-cards/products/world-elite/ The current offer is 40k points while the old one was 100k so might be worth waiting... No need for bank account. It's 1.5% return without foreign transaction fee so that includes USD among other currencies.
@@tonywang7778 Thank you Tony. So it gives you 1.5% return on all USD spending? I did try to find this on the site. I might have to call and find out to confirm. I know at times credit card companies remove nice features like the doordash 30% off.
@@tonywang7778 true. I only got aeroplan credit card to avoid mycaeroplan miles from expiring. My ideal would be one ae, one mc and visa. I really want that sijplii visa, ehh, but most 2 out of 3 cards are visa. My mind is like why can't it be Mastercard. 1 pc's mc (lowest end) which I only got cause you know loblaws doesn't accept visa and I used to work in loblaws store. It was useful. Now meh. In reality I need find a good Mastercard.

What about scotia momentum visa, they have 4% on all reoccurring bills

Thank you for stopping by and sharing Michael! Good to hear you're getting value out of the free option passively!

Welcome back Ryan and thank you! Old Rogers WE would definitely be in there, but the after the change the 15k plus the other changes kinda killed it

Are these for Canadian citizens only?
Would you recommend a basic CIBC aeroplan platinum vs personal divident as a 1st credit card? Only got some OSAP for my credit score so far 😬
Personally, I would prefer the Aeroplan!

For me it’s the best!! Wouldn’t use anything else. Goes hand in hand with CIBC which is ok
That remark was for Dorian Manchu. Bout PC Financial

I signed up for cibc aeroplan platinum too early. Lost 5000 points sigh
