Control Galaxy Tab S8 Ultta with S23 Ultra | Collaboration View for S Notes

- A quick tutorial on how to use Samsung's Collaboration View. This feature came out about 11 months ago, but I'm just now able to test it since getting the S23 Ultra. It hasn't been compatible with the Z Fold 4 I was using.
This is a cool little feature, I can see it being very useful for artists. This works most recent galaxy phones (except fold/flip) and recent Galaxy tablets, such as the Tab S7 and S7 Plus.

I've been trying to get this to work since I received both the S8 Ultra and S22 Ultra on pre-order. Have not been able to do it until now and it doesn't require the devices to be connected or even know about each other in the Bluetooth settings BUT bluetooth does need to be on.
Here's what I did to get it working. Hopefully this helps someone else:
Neither of my devices know about one another via bluetooth for this to work. I unpaired both.
NEITHER DEVICE HAS WIFI ON - some tutorials say this is needed...I found it not to be needed.
BLUETOOTH MUST BE ON WITH BOTH DEVICES. In the interest of troubleshooting I deleted the bluetooth connection on both devices so the tablet doesn't know about the phone and the phone doesn't know about the tablet...like they've never been paired before. They aren't connected, they aren't paired but Bluetooth is on.
Ok, here we go:
Go into settings on *BOTH* devices and below "Connections" is "Connected Devices"
open that and tick the slider for "Continue apps on other devices". Do that on the tablet and the phone. I got a popup saying wifi and bluetooth are turned on. I turned off wifi again and tested it and this still works.
On the tablet you will still need to make sure in the Samsung Notes settings you have the option ticked to use the phone as the toolbar.
That's all it took. When I go into Samsung notes on the tablet and open a new note, the icon is there to use the phone. If I go into an existing notes and tick the "edit" icon (box with a pen in it) then icon pops up to use the phone and it just works. I've undone and redone this several times with rebooting both devices and it works EVERY SINGLE TIME.
If that doesn't work for you, here's something else that I did that may have affected this when I initially got it working.
Open Samsung notes on your tablet. Open a note. On your phone, open your recent apps and you should see a notification to continue the note from your tablet. tap it. This may be a sort of "handshake" of sorts that allowed this functionality to work and I've only needed to do this once and it keeps working unless I enable dark mode on the tablet.

I'll have to try this on the S22U after I get the One UI 5.1 update. I know that the charging bypass feature is working on both my S22U and Tab S8 Ultra when using Game Booster and hoping more of these new features are supported on previous models.
Howdy Chad! You have the feature already, you can try it now. It's been out since One UI 4.1, so your S22 Ultra and Tab S8 Ultra should be good to go. I'm late to the game with this one because I haven't been able to test it out until since having the S23 Ultra, it's not supported on the fold/flip phones for some reason.
That new usb charging bypass feature is awesome and honestly long overdue. I think ASUS has had it for a few years now, but I could be wrong with that one, just going off memory.

I can't get this to work on my Tab S7+ with S22 Ultra. The S22 is paired, the setting in Notes is on, but I don't get the menu item to use phone as toolbar. I am in light mode. Can you think of anything I am missing?
Hi Dan, thanks for stopping by again! This case does look pretty good, I'm digging it. I'm still trying to get used to the flap though.
It sounds like you have everything covered for it to work. A couple other things to check that I didn't mention would be to go into Advanced Settings and make "Continue Apps on other devices" is enabled, and also check to make sure the Samsung Continuity service is running on both devices. It'll show up as an App in your app list in Settings.
If that doesn't help, let me know and I'll help you troubleshoot it further.
@RADER TECH those settings are good. Still doesn't work. Do you know if this feature ever got rolled out to the Tab S7 series?
I don't have the option either. But I own an S23+, not Ultra, maybe that's why.

@@SilvaVinicius HI, thanks for watching! Yes, that's correct, only the Ultra model supports this feature. The reason being is because it has the required s pen support you need, while the others don't support it.
is there a way to write on the samsung notes from my s23 ultra keyboard onto the tab s8 ultra samsung notes?

At first it wasn't supported on the other models, but I'm almost 100% sure that isn't the case now. All of the tab s8's should support it, and I'm pretty sure the tab s7 line eventually got it as well. I remember seeing a couple videos on AllStareSpace's channel going over the update a while back.

Does anyone know if the dark mode issue has been solved?
It's been sketchy on my S23 Ultra since switching to One UI 6 beta, but I recall still having to be in dark mode a couple months ago when I was on 5.1.1.
I guess this won't work with fold series ... As spen is not interpolable
