I visited Xian in 1985 with my mother. It was impressive historically but the modern city was old, grey, dirty and poor. Now modern Xian has developed into a world class metropolis to match its ancient glory. This video was amazing, especially the drone shots. Keep it up. I look forward to more videos from you every Sunday morning. It has become my weekly ritual. I can’t wait to revisit Xian. The mall looks utterly amazing.

Xi'an is my hometown that I have been living for over 20 years. After graduating from the university, I have been to many fantastic cities in Europe and Asia, in which I saw the beautiful local cultural heritage. The pagoda tower was once surrounded by crops filed in the 1990s, which has been turned into a landmark of the Datang sleepless city now. Xi' an is now a metropolis with a diverse culture that welcomes people around the world.
Thanks Alex! Your video's are always eye openers. I don't think I could ever get enough of the lights at night there in many cities. Always impressed with the planning that started their expansion in the cities there. Transportation was always in the forefront, I can see that. This is very lacking in a lot of places that need it in the world. I have not seen Julia and Lana for the last few weeks, hope they are on their way now. XI'AN looked interesting but there must be hundreds of bucket list locations people could come up with. The trick is to come often or stay for a sabbatical. 🙂I was trying to come up with a quick list of must sees and ran out of fingers. Just so much to see & experience!

One word to describe this video: EPIC! I have never been to Xian, but will for sure one day, very soon. My concern is that your video, esp those drone footage, have created such high expectations. Some scenaries seeing on the ground will not be the same.

Emperor Taizong died in 649 and the old pagoda was built in 652, under the authority of Empress Wu. Personally, I think she was very dangerous for her enemies but was much better than many Emperors.

This is 100% my work with Julia. We have been doing this before and we will be doing it after. We have no outside support on these videos. All are 100% funded, scripted, music selected and video edited, We sometimes hire freelance drone pilots if we need additional footage. All is fully licensed or owned by ourselves.

Xi’an has great habitat essentials, 8 rivers surrounding the city, a mountain range the size of the Great Smoky Mountains 30 minutes south of the city, home of pandas and golden hair monkeys, and all sorts of cuisines being at the crossroads of East and West, South and North. I lived there for 10 years and really enjoyed it.
A high quality TV series, "The longest day in Chang'an", takes you back the life in this city in Tang Dynasty. It's available to watch on TH-cam with English subtitles. Btw, Chang'an is the ancient name for Xi'an.
Kyoto and Nara city grids and architecture were modeled after those in Tang Dynasty Chang’an. Chinese soft power was very strong in Japan and neighboring countries in ancient times
Back in 205BCE before the age of airplanes and satellites the First Emperor was able to determine Xi'an was the center of his empire Zhongguo aka China or the Middle Kingdom. Xi'an will be the site for archeologists for the next 200 years at least they haven't even scratched the surface of the First Emperor's massive 12kmx12km necropolis !
China's Xi'an is perfect mixture of ancient and modern beauties. It has tech companies as well as ancient historical places. In Nepal,Kathmandu city is also a historical and a little bit modern city if I could say but Nepal is slow developing country and infrastructure are not that great except for some. I wish our country Nepal along with China and other countries around the world can grow together in Peace.
Chinese history is so fascinating. I think China should work on making documentaries and web series about its ancient history and civilization in english language too and release them on international platforms so that whole world can know more about it. Beautiful city 💙

@@THEDEADBLACKRAT Obviously Chongqing first in order to meet Alex & the iChongqing gang. There would be enough to see there to last at least a week or two before venturing further. XI'AN looked interesting but there must be hundreds of bucket list locations people could come up with. The trick is to come often or stay for a sabbatical. 🙂I was trying to come up with a quick list of must sees and ran out of fingers. Just so much to see & experience!

I have never been to Xian, but will for sure one day, very soon. My concern is that your video, esp those drone footage, have created such high expectations. Some scenaries seeing on the ground will not be the same.

I have been visited Xi' An ten years ago for holiday ,it was so inpressed a city rich of old encient culture. Hoping to visit Xi An again.
Emperor Taizong died in 649 and the old pagoda was built in 652, under the authority of Empress Wu. Personally, I think she was very dangerous for her enemies but was much better than many Emperors.
1:00 that's probably the biggest mightiest ancient city wall in the world. Look at the thickness and height.

This is 100% my work with Julia. We have been doing this before and we will be doing it after. We have no outside support on these videos. All are 100% funded, scripted, music selected and video edited, We sometimes hire freelance drone pilots if we need additional footage. All is fully licensed or owned by ourselves.
@@Reporterfy If that's the case I think the local tourism boards should at least be paying for the freelance drone pilots if not for the full cost of the videos. They're really of amazing quality.

Xi’an has great habitat essentials, 8 rivers surrounding the city, a mountain range the size of the Great Smoky Mountains 30 minutes south of the city, home of pandas and golden hair monkeys, and all sorts of cuisines being at the crossroads of East and West, South and North. I lived there for 10 years and really enjoyed it.

A high quality TV series, "The longest day in Chang'an", takes you back the life in this city in Tang Dynasty. It's available to watch on TH-cam with English subtitles. Btw, Chang'an is the ancient name for Xi'an.
Kyoto and Nara city grids and architecture were modeled after those in Tang Dynasty Chang’an. Chinese soft power was very strong in Japan and neighboring countries in ancient times

Back in 205BCE before the age of airplanes and satellites the First Emperor was able to determine Xi'an was the center of his empire Zhongguo aka China or the Middle Kingdom. Xi'an will be the site for archeologists for the next 200 years at least they haven't even scratched the surface of the First Emperor's massive 12kmx12km necropolis !
China's Xi'an is perfect mixture of ancient and modern beauties. It has tech companies as well as ancient historical places. In Nepal,Kathmandu city is also a historical and a little bit modern city if I could say but Nepal is slow developing country and infrastructure are not that great except for some. I wish our country Nepal along with China and other countries around the world can grow together in Peace.

I remember how beatiful was the spring in 2017 in Xi'an how briliand is the City wall in contrast with skyline of Xi'an one of the most beatiful if not the most beautifull city in the world, definitely i would like to live there. Is nice inside city wall you cannot build modern houses only traditional Tang Dinasty style.

Amazing and inspiring video. I enjoyed watching all your videos, wish I could be there in China but I'm stuck here in the USA with all flights banned to China due to the virus 😩. Our infrastructure is the exact opposite of China's. Cannot paint a more obvious picture and this video highlights the contrast.

Xi'an has gone through another stress-test. Just one more along its colorful and lengthy history. Some deficiencies were exposed that will be fixed. Since January 10, Xi'an has achieved zero social cases. From January 11 to January 15, the newly confirmed local cases were 8, 6, 8, 4, and 1, respectively. All of them were found in the centralized isolation and closed-loop management personnel. Looks like the epidemic has entered the final stage.
