The problem with China is that is an ineficient country, but they already have larger numbers in other things. China is the fabric of the world, check some stats and you'll see they equal the contribution of the 2nd, 3rd and 4th place together.

Li: A tale of two political systems" from 2013. After I watched it, I watched interviews with him and it helped me to think that probably the most relevant reasons that China has been so successful is the "one party" system, the right mix of socialism and capitalism, Deng Xiaoping's and Xi Jinping's visionary qualities, etc, etc... As a Chinese born in late 90s, I can experience the significant change of my country. In recent 10 years, our country really changed and grew a lot. Hopefully this trend will be ongoing and the world will remain peaceful.

I have lived in China for the past 15 years ( Fuzhou to be exact ) . The transformation and modernization of this city within that time period is truly unbelievable .
New York is still the #1 city of the world though. Shanghai is cool, I’ve been to both, but there’s still a very long way to go for Shanghai to catch up with New York. That feeling of NYC is just unique.

As a Chinese living in the U.K. for the past 20 years, I have witness the decline of the U.K. and the rising of China, so proud my hometown Shanghai has got back to the former glory within one generation. Haven’t been home for over a year due to COVID, don’t even want to discuss how bad U.K. government has handled the pandemic, it only depresses me further. Even Xi’an is not on this list, it is not that rich economically, but it is rich culturally. Actually many Chinese cities are improved dramatically in the past decades.
There are too many "big name" cities in China, just too many to fit into a "top 10"... Xi'an, Tianjin, Nanjing, almost all provincial capitals, several ancient capitals in Henan province... Like you hear the names of those cities A LOT because they have been historically relevant for several millenniums, but sadly not everyone can squeeze into the top 10... Having said that, all the cities on this list are also "big names" too, either having a very long and iconic history or have been iconic for specific eras of Chinese history, even recent cities like Shanghai, Shenzhen, or Hong Kong are undoubtedly "big names" among newer cities. I guess, none of them are "surprise entries".

@@MichelePonte Thanks Michele! My knowledge of filming or taking pictures consists of having a Kodak 110 cartridge camera years ago. Today I have an iPad Pro and the new iPhone 12 Pro Max. If I recall correctly, you are not an Apple fan. I prefer it because of it’s ease of use. As for editing, you may just as well speak Polish to me, because I know absolutely nothing about either one, I do however know that based on your comments in the past, editing is the most time consuming. You just continue editing my friend, and I will continue enjoying! 👍

Even if Chongqing's current size drops by two thirds, the city's GPD won't change much because the remaining third is the previous Chongqing that makes the largest contribution to the city's economy. Chongqing was brave 20 years ago to take a large and very poor area from Sichuan to help the region develop and prosper.

Chongqing has been battling 5th place for a long time, but if based on per capita GDP, would lose out to many cities on the list due to 30m+ population. Plus, Guangzhou's neighbouring cities of Dongguan, Foshan and Panyu also have large GDPs and these cities are somewhat intertwined.
The criteria for getting into the top-10 is pretty high when you consider that cities like Tianjin, Qingdao, Shenyang, Xi'an, Nanjing all fail to make the cut. By the end of this decade, it's likely that all cities at rank 20 and above will have GDPs at least as large as Singapore.

Oh, man! I watch these videos (mostly about food/travel) where someone is in a 'fifth-tier" city, or a "99th tier city" that I never heard of... and I look it up and there's two million people living there, and good food, and a whole urban thing and lower crime and better food that I DARE to dream of! Places where the Wikipedia article is like half a page... and it's bigger and better than any place I've ever been. It might be that number ten on this list beats the crap out of say Atlanta, Philadelphia, New York City, or Miami (!). I haven't traveled though. Parts of Miami are for sure all lit up at night, but I'd think twice about walking around by myself at night!

There are too many "big name" cities in China, just too many to fit into a "top 10"... Xi'an, Tianjin, Nanjing, almost all provincial capitals, several ancient capitals in Henan province... Like you hear the names of those cities A LOT because they have been historically relevant for several millenniums, but sadly not everyone can squeeze into the top 10... Having said that, all the cities on this list are also "big names" too, either having a very long and iconic history or have been iconic for specific eras of Chinese history, even recent cities like Shanghai, Shenzhen, or Hong Kong are undoubtedly "big names" among newer cities. I guess, none of them are "surprise entries".
Every city has its rich culture, yet Xian does have a lot of ancient history.

Chongqing was brave 20 years ago to take a large and very poor area from Sichuan to help the region develop and prosper.
I'm Shanghainese but I like Chongqing sceneary, despite the too spicy foods that I can not afford, haha.

Chongqing has been battling 5th place for a long time, but if based on per capita GDP, would lose out to many cities on the list due to 30m+ population. Plus, Guangzhou's neighbouring cities of Dongguan, Foshan and Panyu also have large GDPs and these cities are somewhat intertwined.

I watch these videos (mostly about food/travel) where someone is in a 'fifth-tier" city, or a "99th tier city" that I never heard of... and I look it up and there's two million people living there, and good food, and a whole urban thing and lower crime and better food that I DARE to dream of! Places where the Wikipedia article is like half a page... and it's bigger and better than any place I've ever been. It might be that number ten on this list beats the crap out of say Atlanta, Philadelphia, New York City, or Miami (!). I haven't traveled though.
