Damo and Aidee did a fantastic job on our Deluxe conversion 5 years ago. Very similar to this version but 4 extra steel girders lengthways as the trusses were removed and water tank repositioned. 4 Velux windows and more storage doors. We painted the plaster ourselves and put carpet tiles down. Very very happy with the results and the house hasn’t collapsed yet which is also good😂. Only took a week from start to finish. What a transformation from a typical wasted area to being a pleasure to climb up the ladder into a bright, airy room. The house definitely holds the heat more in winter and keeps the loft cooler in summer. Recommended.
Hi Rob, That looks a cracking job. I was in a trade and the amount of mess builders used to leave at the end of a job had to be seen to be believed. Great to see at the end of the video how clean and tidy it was left. The customer appreciates the work so much better.
Wow, that is amazing a whole new room up there... here in Australia our roofs do not have any where near that amount of vertical space in the roofs... we are lucky to be able to kneel full height in our roofs.... You have a fantastic amount of space there for a great layout...
I love watching your videos and seeing the transformations. My loft is huge! But can’t afford to turn into a room. So I use it for storage. I’ve been looking at hand rails for the loft hatch and I really like the one you make up. Can I ask what size timber did you use for the hand rail.
@@builditwithrob Ahh that makes sense. I thought I was going mad. I saw some of these video's weeks ago, but they're only posted a few days ago. I couldn't quite twig why these were being posted again. Ha! nice one. Good luck.
How much would something like this cost. similar property same job. (larger hatch, wooden ladder, insulation, boarded, plastered, electric etc) and how long would it take? south yorkshire cheers. cheers
Hi Rob, your videos have been really helpful to me. my loft beams are only 3x2, would cross bracing with 3x2 or 4x2 be good enough for storage? Great videos, thanks again. 👍

Hey Rob, good luck with your new chapter mate. Honestly I thought you were an equal partner with the Ecocunts. Eff them greedy benchods. Question, are you familiar with the Telebeam products? I’m looking to do a diy dormer hip to gable using there system. Any advice appreciated.

I love you guys making these beautiful and very useful loft spaces.
Good to see your videos again. All the very best in your new adventure
What do you do about ventilation behind the insulation? as it hasn't got a breathable felt, does condensation not happen on the roofing felt?
Looks a fun project, can’t wait to see the end result
Nice to see you back
Thanks Allen
Greetings from across the pond. Nice work! Gonna be a great 🚂 layout space!
Thank you Chris
Nice and clean build ,looking forward to updates
Best of luck with your new business Rob, I'm sure you'll make a big success of it.
Thanks Greg
Nice work. I wish you were here in the US. I have a 20x25 attic (loft) that I would love to turn into usable space. Nice work.
Hi Rob. Always a pleasure to watch your videos! Great job!
Thank you

It’s going to be like watching Benjamin Button with the edited videos and your trip to Turkey :-)

Did you improve roof ventilation above celotex as I noticed it was traditional felt not one of the new breathable membranes
Top job mate love it
Thanks 👍
Nice work Rob! When you do the initial cross bracing, are you laying the boards down on the ceiling joists directly?
Ever thought of building extensions in kit form
I don’t know why I like watching these 😂
Seen it before rob but a splendid job dude ! Hows new business going ? Little john from chichester
Thanks John sure they will be new content coming soon
Amazing I need same Jo in loft
Drop me an email I can give you a quote
Rob, i am thinking of doing somting like that but i how do you get round the fact my roof has the original slate without any canvas under the slates?
You could staple vapour barrier across rafters to help with any drips
@@builditwithrob thank you, that makes sense.
If you had replaced the roof timbers with RSJ's then you could have replaced the 4 joists. Giving more space
🇮🇪
Look at that yellow candy floss at the start 😋
I was told I had to leave a 2inch gap between insulation and roof membrane yet yours seems to butt right up
Hi Jack we left a 50mm air flow gap behind insulation
To allow roof to breathe
Thanks Rob nice to have it confirmed
Good on you boys great job done ✔️ I would love to get a bit of advice on my attic Rob bit I don't know how to send pictures on you tube

Hi Rob, maybe i am blind, but why are those awesome building videos gone? Really enjoyed them.
Hello Bash I took all my videos down as I’ve split from ecotrus
@@builditwithrob Keep post these videos Rob. There are great

Hello friend
Job will take 5 days rough price is £9,200
Would the room be even smaller if it was insulated for living?
It would be much smaller
Hi Rob, your videos have been really helpful to me. my loft beams are only 3x2, would cross bracing with 3x2 or 4x2 be good enough for storage? Great videos, thanks again. 👍
Hi bud
Cross brace with 4x2 that should be ok for storage
How much does something like this cost.
Are you still doing loft conversions? And if so what method are you using as I assume not using ecotrus materials.
Hey 👋 I won’t be using the steel structures anymore
@@builditwithrob could you explain the reasons why?
@@nicmonberg5974 hello I reached out to EcoTrus to try buy kits they were none responsive
@@builditwithrob thanks for confirming. Which out of the 2 would you say is easier and less cost?
@@nicmonberg5974 to be honest the steel kit is easier but much more expensive
Traditional methods are cheaper but take slightly longer
Hi mate I’m planning to buy a eco system for a large truss loft, what’s the diff between ecotruss and telebeam system ?
No mention of “building regulation” requirements, for use other than “informal storage”?
Rob looking for a railway room

Are you able to say roughly how much this particular conversion cost the client? Thanks
@@jamesoliver9398 hi James I believe £9200
So did the Council have to come and take a look?

Hey Chris 👍
Where are the trains :(
They came afterwards sorry
Do the plasters ever leave you footage you can’t use? 😂
Hi Joseph sometimes I get good footage other times not
🤣🤣typical plasterers, id know
Its a shame those four diagonal braces had to remain. Spoils the overall look.
I was wondering if they CAN be removed.
