    Some answers to Frequently Asked Questions below; hope these help ... feel free to ask any questions;
    - The layout is approx 7m by 4.5m (22ft by 14ft)
    - The layout is currently DC Analogue, however has future provision to convert to DCC.
    - The OLE is only for cosmetic purposes; the pantograph heights on some loco’s have been set just below the wire height; others still to set.
    - The layout has been approx 13yrs so far in development; but still plenty to-do.
    - The layout is based within the U.K. along the West Coast Main Line somewhere around Stafford - Crewe - Warrington area between mid 1980s to early 2000s.

    This is a truly a monumental and dedicated commitment in producing this great layout from start to its current status. The statement that model railways are never fully completed is so true as you have shown so well. Thank you for sharing and inspiring those that love this great hobby.

    So great to see long trains going round a curve without the "uh-oh it's a model" giveaway of coaches at almost 45 degree angles to one another. I know its unavoidable in many situations, but to see your trains with only a gentle bend between them is so good! Wonderful modelling. Thanks for sharing and for the inspiration.

    • @ModelRailway
      @ModelRailway  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Many thanks for the lovely comment, and glad you like the longer sweeping curves! I always liked seeing trains go round Queensville curve (just south of Stafford station) and I know what you mean about some layouts having curves that appear too tight (although often understandable due to space constraints) … so when I designed DP I tried to have larger sweeping curves. While looking better, they are also often more reliable. I also included transitions between the straights and curves. To accommodate the larger radius curves, I included the board cut-outs that lower in each corner to allow good access, also for different viewing angles. Glad you enjoyed! Kind regards, Mark

    What an excellent way to document your progress on this stunning layout, its the first I think I have seen of this, very impressed. It’s great to see someone stick to their plans and enhance further a layout of this size without ripping up bits, shows you know what works for you. A nice mix of kit and scratch built projects too, works well. See there might be a garden to shed extension! A really enjoyable video, thank you. Best regards Stephen

    • @ModelRailway
      @ModelRailway  ปีที่แล้ว

      Many thanks Stephen for the lovely comment and compliments … glad you enjoyed! I’m so glad I took a decent amount of time to plan the layout and allowed provision for a few extension projects below the layout over time … a garden railway extension is tempting … although the recent O Gauge loco’s and stock are tempting! Still a few projects to do before then … and need to be a bit more prudent these days as well … but watch this space! Thanks again, Mark

    Well that video was brilliant, thank you so much. That's a really great story showing the development of the layout. I started watching here just after the layout appeared in "Model Rail" but didn't realise that was about the time you started making videos. SO I started following right at the begining! Woohoo me! Anyway thanks again and really really great what you have achieved with the layout. I look forward to many more future updates. All the best Dave.

      Many thanks Dave and yes … it does sound like you were one of the early subscribers! Glad you enjoyed the Model Rail article and the build history video … it’s been quite slow but steady progress over time (compared to say Pete Waterman’s Making Tracks layouts that are massive and built in only a few months) … but work and family and life etc get in the way, so it’s been a steady but fun hobby … 👍

      @@ModelRailway Thank you for your reply, yes, your right, it has to be a fun hobby, else why bother, unless it's your livelihood. My own current layout has been coming together over about the same 10 year time period. I do a load, then work and family needs slow things down, they come first obviously. Then I loose interest for a bit, then come back to it, but I've had no need to change the track plan, which says something I guess. My current layout is by far the most complete, I enjoy the track laying and wiring, but it's simple stuff compared to yours. Scenery has taken me a bit outside my comfort zone, but I'm quite pleased with the results so far. Just spent about 9 months replacing my Metcalfe buildings with Scalescenes download ones...............Anyway Thanks again and all the best Dave.

      Many thanks for the lovely comment! Yes … I have had a bit of a vision and plan over time … to mainly focus upon the build of the base layout, reliability, then more rolling stock projects with detailing areas over time … revisiting parts of the layout to detail, as well as extending the layout below to add additional storage yards. I’m pleased that the base layout as originally laid has remained reliable and functional … so glad I spent several months planning the track plan! Wish I had taken some pictures of the iterations … at one stage the whole shed floor was pretty much covered in lining paper! 👍

    Such attention to detail - so precise and elaborate. What a magnificent piece of art and this beautifully showcases the evolution through time. Well done. I am reconstructing my model railway to make it somewhat better, but it will never be as good as this. Perhaps because I’m not willing to take the time out and play the ‘waiting’ game in respect to the end product. I’m in a quandary here, but what I’m saying is that my model railway will never be as good as yours, so it’s not even worth trying.

      Many thanks for the lovely message and compliments Alex. I’ve felt like that before and lost my modelling mojo at times … but realised a key thing to remember is that modelling is meant to be a hobby … every layout has strengths and weaknesses … and the main thing is that if it gives you personal enjoyment, it can be so good for mental health and well-being. Try not to force modelling as well, only do it when you enjoy it, have the mojo … and have breaks from modelling as well … can really help! Good luck with reconstructing your layout … and enjoy! 👍
