NOTE: To make the "finishing half blocks that I show at the end, you will need to cut half of the blocks apart vertically and half horizontally. This way half the blocks will have the dark corner on the top and have will have the white corner on the top. Once you start cutting (or ripping) these blocks apart, it will become obvious. Contact me if you have any questions or this doesn't make sense.

I like your tutorials because they are not cluttered with actual sewing of the blocks. This one is really interesting.

Hi again. I really respect your time and appreciate you watching. That is why I don't show the sewing of the blocks. I was nervous when I started because it seemed everyone showed the sewing. I couldn't figure out what anyone would learn watching a sewing machine needle go up and down. In come cases it is important to show the sewing, but not very often.

I like this short format. If someone doesn't know how to sew or quilt, they can find plenty of long format tutorials online (yawn!) But these little idea tutorials are fun and don't take a whole day to watch. 😉👍

Absolutely love these 10-minute tutorials! Love that you show the blocks and quickly move to the next step. Don't need to see someone else sewing at their sewing machine. I'm your worse short-attention-span student. Cut to the good stuff!! And I'll go back to them for edu-tainment.
That being said, I also like a good cosy chatty, what's going on Vlog series. How's the baby, oh,, new kitten!, who's who in zoo?, what's coming along, what's a Fail, etc. Will watch both types, depending upon my mood. Just label them clearly. May watch a 10 min one the day it comes out, save a couple of vlogs to play when my hands are busy, cooking, sewing, what-have-you. Have watched one as long as 3 hours, in two rooms on tv screens, even snagging hubs attention here and there.

    • @QuestioningQuilter
      @QuestioningQuilter  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Thanks so very much for the detailed response. I was worried at first about NOT showing the sewing and pressing because that is what almost everyone else did. I did show how I sewed my HST blocks in my first video, but it seemed crazy to me to show that more than once. Especially if I hoped people would watch more than one of them. I really appreciate the reassurance that I am doing it right.
You make a good point about more detailed Vlog type videos and being sure to label them. I will keep this in mind for the future.
      Have a wonderful day. 😊😊

I would watch every and any tutorial you produced I don't mind a longer tutorial at all...and thank you for not making it yet another beginning quilt series.. there are literally thousands of them. I would GREATLY appreciate something with an intermediate or advanced theme.... I know many other NOT BEGININER quilters who feel the same way. I also appreciate you are not just following one designer and just making everything she quilts..... BORING.... Thank you for just being you....I look forward to anything... long or short... I appreciate your expertise and look forward to learning skills from you.

I love new quilters. Welcome to the club. Be careful, because this can become addicting. Good luck with your first quilt. If it isn't perfect don't beat yourself up. The Amish always have at least one mistake in their quilts because only God is perfect. The other rule about quilts is that if the quilt looks good at 50 yards from atop a fast horse, then it is fine. :-)
I would love to hear how your quilting journey progresses.
      Take care,

I love this and the woman at the Guild just added to this again stunning quilt with your simple and every easy tutorial the quilts that I can make and really stun a few of my friends who never ever thought in a million years that I would ever sit at a sewing machine or become interested in quilting can all be gob smacked when I gift them one of these quilts. Would love it if you could maybe yes do some tutorials about binding and so on and maybe some shortcut ideas on not having all the fancy rulers but still achieving the triangle looks. I love me the precuts as a new sewer and quilter and your methods are brilliant and the patterns are endless.

You don't need a special quilting machine. Any simple sewing machine will get you started. Mine was an inexpensive Singer sewing machine that my parents bought me when I started college (a very long time ago). There are also hand sewing techniques that don't require any sewing machine at all.

There are plenty of intro to quilting videos already, so putting your creativity toward presenting more disappearing block ideas and quilt projects would be great to see. And always a plus to see alternative layouts and colorways for inspiration. Succinct, well-organized tutorials, regardless of length, are more inviting, but without leaving beginning quilters too much in the dark. Glad I found your channel 🙂

Keep the format, it is perfect. Not too long, not too short. Good demo on design wall. Every word is pertinent. And so far every design looks different from the usual disappearing 9patch online and very tempting to have a go. Well done. Keep going. Big hugs from the Belgian Ardennes.

Hi. I love the disappearing blocks and how many, many different ways they can be put together. I learned the basics on other quilting videos, then I happened upon you.... I've never seen what you do, anywhere else! 🎉 I love your videos as they are. If you ever run out of disappearing blocks, I'd be very glad to see what other kinds of designs you do.

Thank you so much. I LOVE disappearing blocks because of the reason you said. There are just so, so many different variations and they are all so much easier than they look. I have a couple of ideas to mix it up, but most of my videos will be disappearing blocks. I am hoping to write a book one day with these disappearing blocks and more. Meanwhile I am trying to get as many people as possible addicted to disappearing quilts as possible. Welcome to the club. 🥰
