  • I am Brita Nelson the Questioning Quilter (questioningquilter.com)
    The quilt here is 40.5" X 40.5" and is made of thirty-six 6 3/4" finished blocks.
    If using layer cakes, you will need 9 green, 9 colorful and 18 White layer cakes ( 10" X 10").
    If using charms you will need 72 green charms, 72 colorful charms (you will need 2 light and 2 dark charms of the same color to make 1 pinwheel).
    If using yardage, you will need 1 1/3 yard of green and 1 1/3 yard of another fabric for the flower and 2 2/3 yard of white or very light. These measurements don't include binding or backing.
    If you want to make this quilt with different sized Half Square Triangle blocks, I have a chart with all the measurements here: questioningquilter.com/chart
    To get a .pdf version of this pattern, sign up for my newsletter on any page of my website (questioningquilter.com). After you submit the form, you will get a confirmation email with a link to the newsletter archive. On the newsletter archive page, this will be in the February 2022 issue.
    This quilt is made with two different disappearing pinwheel blocks (variations on the friendship start) put together. I am curious if you would like to see the other two variations of the friendship star, if you are ready to try some quilts that utilize positive and negative designs or mirror images of the same block, or just keep to simple one block designs. Please let me know.
    If you decide to make this quilt, I would love to see how it comes out. You can email a picture to me or share it with me on Facebook or Instagram.

    I want it all! Simple, yes, please. Variation of 2 blocks? Yes, please. More interesting? Yes, please. More content! I enjoy the twisting and the Aiyiyi! Why didn't I think of that? But my advantage of watching you is reach. I don't have a channel, and I am happy to watch you. 😊 Thanks for more!

    • @QuestioningQuilter

      LOL! A woman after my heart, you want it all. I guess I better get busy. I wish I had time to make more than 1 per month, but I am doing the best I can. My hardest decision now, is what to make next.
      I listen to my viewers and want to keep you happy. My next video is going to be some sort of disappearing 9 -Patch (or an unusual variation), based on viewer requests. Based on these requests, April is going to be a little more complex. Hope you like it. 😁

    Brita I just love your videos. So I’m game for whatever you decide, simple or complex. But what I would love is that you make it a series…. Like complex disappearing #1,#2 etc. Thanks!!

    • @QuestioningQuilter
      @QuestioningQuilter  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I was thinking, that if people want more complex I would slowly increase the complexity, the first one showing positive and negative images, then moving on to mirror image blocks.
      I am not sure about what you mean by making them a series. Do you mean that I should label it differently than the ones I am doing now? I am afraid that if I put a number on the title of the quilt, it might stop someone from clicking on the thumbnail. Can you give me a little more information about what you mean. You can answer here, or email me. I take the comments by my viewer very seriously. You are the reason I am doing this.

    • @QuestioningQuilter
      @QuestioningQuilter  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am so happy that you like the videos. I understand about the 1/8" measurements but in order to use a charm pack or layer cake that is what is necessary to make the sub-blocks perfectly square.
      You can use different sized HST Blocks (see the chart on my website: questioningquilter.com/chart/) so that the cutting measurement are easier. For example if you start with 6 3/4" squares, turned into HST Blocks trimmed to 6 1/4". You would cut 2" from the center seam and end up with a block that is 11" unfinished and 10 1/2" finished. This quilt would then be 63" X 63".
      Thanks for watching.

      A little of both it is. The quilts so far have been very simple. Hopefully I can start making some of them a little more complex. It has been a lot of work and the appreciation really makes me feel good.
      What to wear is always a question. When I wear solid, or near solid colors some people comment that it is too dull. LOL Right now I am just going through my closet trying not to wear the same thing twice. Hopefully winter is almost over and I have a few nice blouses to wear for the summer.

      You are so awesome. What greater compliment could I receive that you sharing my video with your friends. Thank you so much.
      Let's see if you really want more. I am working on this month's video and I have over 12 different layouts for the blocks. LOL!

      I wanted to share what I liked most about your videos, aside from your personality.
      • your projects appear to target confident beginners and intermediate skill levels. There are a lot of beginner quilt shows but yours kick them up a notch.
      • You don’t wastes time showing us the sewing of all the 1/4 inch seams. Skipping to sewn block is so much more interesting.
      • The color schemes are great and they challenge us to mix it up and still end up with beautiful patterns that are very pleasing to the eye.
      Keep them coming

      @@lynnettenilan52 Thanks so so much for the detailed feedback. I spend a lot of time worrying about what to add and what not to add. It is fantastic to hear what is working. Yay!
      This month is going to be just a little different. I am going to make it in blue and yellow to honor Ukraine. It is going to have positive and negative of the same block. I am not going to show other colors. Instead I have over a dozen different layouts for these blocks. I am hoping to get this out either today or tomorrow. I would love to know your opinion

    I would enjoy the positive negative variation, but it doesn't have to be first. We are still working on variations from your sampler class. Absolutely addictive, terrific learning experience, and tons of fun! Everything you share just gets us all going (and laughing) again!!!

      You have an advantage. You saw the chain block as positive and negative and got to see that quilt. I may do a video about that, but for now it is just for the people who took the class. 😉
      Thanks so much for watching.

    This might be my favorite disappearing quilt yet! I love the scrappy look, but you've organized it with the green vines into a coherant story with the flowers!
    I love flowers very much, and always like quilts that resemble flowers.

    • @QuestioningQuilter
      @QuestioningQuilter  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am so glad that you like it. It was a lot of fun. I think the scraps looked better against the green. I tried it with scrappy "vines" and it was just too busy. I think the green vines seem to frame the flowers and make them stand out more.
      Thanks so much for letting me know.

    I was just mulling this over...this would look so cool with plain green "vine" block and plain flower fabric blocks in between...or, blue or pink vine ones with baby fabric in between for a quick baby quilt! Man, the possibilities are endless.
