Today i list my top 10 of all the running shoes I have reviewed so far this year in 2024! I have reviewed and enjoyed a great many shoes in 2024 and these are the top notch offerings over the first 3 months.

Good selection Edd. I'm chuffed that I have four of them - The Saucony Speed 4 (my springtime daily trainer and I agree better than the 3), Adidas Takumi Sen although I have the 9 which I use for my 5k/10k racing and great for fast training or hill sessions, Hoka Cielo X1 (I splashed out on these planning to wear for London this year but I've found they are superb as a long distance trainer and then of course along came......) and finally the Asics Metaspeed Sky Paris, this quickly lured me so I had to have a pair and they're now my London shoe. Thanks for the video and keep them coming.
Looking forward to trying the Asics Metaspeed Edge. Possibly my race day shoe!
Hi Edd. I’m new to running shoes so this list is very helpful. Love your channel by the way! Especially the musical recommendations. I checked out Bernard Butler’s album, Good Grief, on the back of your glowing review. It took me right back. I’m a child of the 70’s and was very much into the Britpop era. Suede were a go to band for me. Anyway, I digress! Keep up the excellent content. Your laid style makes you stand apart from other, more formal reviewers. All the best.
I'm loving my Puma Velocity Nitro 3 so far, and I can confirm that the grip is indeed awesome. I did not ran yet during a rainy day, but I did run in roads that almost always are dirty with some pebbles and some sand and this Puma shoes slipped a lot less then all other shoes I got right now. I feel good being able to run fast in any terrain and have the great stability provided in part from the outsole grip.
The outsoles on those are something to behold

Yes a new lighter formula
The NB elite V4, Saucony pro4 and Hoka rocket x2 are the ones I grab 1st for anything more than 6-8mi daily runs..many others are OK for daily short runs..
2 surprisingly good pickups for me are 2 relatively unloved shoes; the Mizuno Wave Rebellion Flash 2 and Asics Evoride Speed. The Flash 2 rides like a slightly toned down Rebellion Pro 1. As for the Evoride Speed (only AUD $108, around 56 pounds/earth credits)I actually prefer it over the Novablast 4. Also great when you get both at a significant discount.
Can't believe the MetaspeedParis Series is gonna be up there with some of the GOATS like the Endorphin speed 2 and Vaporfly We needed a shoe like this
Asics have created a beautiful shoe! Light, cushioned and also now decent durability
Congrats Edd on another PB - looks like those Sky Paris' really excel in both short to longer runs. Was thinking only really racing in them for longer distances (1/2 marathon +) but sounds like they'll be good for mostly everything.
May try a 5k soon and see how they handle my all out!
Just did my first run in my metaspeed sky paris and that shoe is amazing! Huge upgrade over the sky plus. I am in love ❤️

Great stuff with another PB boss, your fitness must be at that sweet spot. I find that if you just done a half plan and PB your 5 and 10 pace will be there for PBs too. Say PB more

I'm really hoping for ASICS to put either the Turbo or Turbo+ into their Hyper Speed series. Potential best all purpose lightweight trainer/racer. Otherwise the Hyper Speed with the basic Flytefoam is always getting no attention.
Have been using my Hokka machine 5 for the longest time , def need new shoes and I think I found my pair thanks much

Purchased Cielo X1 yesterday and took out today for last long run before Manchester next week. Wow, what a feeling. Could well put them straight in for next week over my Endorphin Pro 3 🤔 Congrats on the PB 🎉

BB has had a monumental effect on my life. I saved for years to buy a 355 gibson. Sadly a mono model though!

ASICS Metaspeed Sky+ Paris (11:27) - Ed’s favorite for its lightweight and comfort, helping him achieve a 10K PB.
Nike Alphafly 3 (10:19) - Initially took time to break in but now provides consistent performance for longer runs.
Puma Fast-R Nitro Elite 2 (9:06) - Durable and great for marathon training with a 40mm heel stack.
Saucony Endorphin Pro 4 (7:52) - Improved upper and midsole for a more comfortable and responsive run.
Hoka Cielo X1 (6:21) - High stack and fun to run in, similar to Adidas Prime X Strung.
Adidas Takumi Sen 10 (5:11) - Lightweight and perfect for fast sessions with great grip.
Saucony Endorphin Speed 4 (4:14) - More stable and consistent than its predecessor, great for longer runs.
Puma Velocity Nitro 3 (3:15) - Improved daily trainer with more cushion and durability.
Adidas Supernova Rise (2:04) - Great for treadmill runs with cushioned peba-based foam.
ASICS Novablast 4 (0:48) - Plush cushion, better stability, and suitable for daily runs.

Much improved now with more rubber reaching back into the heel.

I have your number 1 and 2 shoes and totally agree. I didn't think any shoe could beat the AF3 but that Sky Paris is just a beast and holds pace like no other. My most used shoe is the Asics Superblast and does most of my easy mileage and some intervals and efforts too.
They hit it out the park with the paris.
Great video Ed still don’t know what to replace my trust Novablast 3 tr with, was thinking of the tr version of the nimbus 25 but there’s a few more to look at now. I honestly couldn’t fault the grip it the ASICS tr version great as a winter or wet shoe and is even ok on those rare dry days we have
The nb4 isn’t really the same as it was made out to be. Not quite the hollow cushion of the nb3.
HATED ASICS until the NovaBlast 4 came along…amazing sneaker!

I actually prefer nova 4 over my superblast. Glad to get to 350 miles in superblast,least I can say I got some ROI.
I've been a die hard Prime X (OG model only) user and have been looking for a replacement. I run with the Heartbreak Hill Running Company and recently Nike had a shoe loaner day with the Alphafly 3. Everybody I know that ran in them was blown away. Many thought it was the best version yet. I'm getting a pair tomorrow with the new colorway. Won't be lacing them up until after I run my 12th Boston Marathon in a couple weeks though. 👍 Can't wait! 😎

Long distance= Puma velocity nitro 3.
Daily trainer= Asics novablast 4
Race day= Saucony endorphin pro 4.

I would swap puma and asics.
Novablast is probably a good daily trainer for the Meta Speed Sky choosers. Need the glideride 4 for the Meta Speed Edge choosers.

I'm a hobby runner, running 10+ km runs at easy pace. Used to run vomero's, since vomero 11. Now tried the Novablast 4 and I'm liking it. Seems like the shoe allows me to run a bit faster without extra effort. :)
The blaster is nice light shoe for daily use
I’m not sure about the “Bowerman playbook” when it comes to Onitsuka/ASICS. The legend learned pretty much everything he knew about design-engineering running shoes from reverse engineering Onitsuka-san’s work.

Thanks for the great video. I’ve recently caught the running bug and after a few weeks of running in a variety of old gym shoes I had laying around I bought the Saucony Endorphin Speed 3 and absolutely love them. I’m having a hard time reaching for anything else at the moment because they just feel so great on foot. I’ve also recently picked up a pair of Nike ZoomX Vaporfly Next% 2 as they were a great deal, but haven’t tried them yet. I want to have a three 3 pair rotation but struggling to decide which direction to go. One option is to use the Speed 3 for my faster interval runs, the Vaporfly 2 for race day and pick something like an ASICS Gel-Nimbus up for easier recovery runs. However, with how much I love the Speed 3, I’m also considering selling the Vaporfly 2 to pickup the Saucony Endorphin Pro 4 or even Elite. Decisions, decisions… if anyone has any suggestions I’d love to hear them. Thank you
Built up a good rotation right there. The nimbus is a good bet for recovery. That’s been key to me keeping injury free. Always listen to your body 👍🏼
Who doesn’t like a list? Thanks Edd. I’m aiming for a PB 10k next Sunday. Slightly mixed terrain course so can’t run in my Pro 3’s. I think the speed 3’s might handle the muddier sections and praying for some dry weather this week 🌧️🌧️🌧️
Yeah I can see why you are opting for something else. Outsoles make the difference on mixed terrain. So many local races feature something different out there!
Hi Edd, love your work!! Manchester for my first marathon next week, I’ve ran a couple half’s in Vaporfly 3’s with no issues ever, which I love. Thought I would get a super shoe more suited to longer distance. Tried Alphafly 2, bad blisters. Alphafly 3 plantar pain in one foot stopped me after 3 miles and this also happened again today, same foot but this time in the Asics Sky Paris. What to try next, or just stick to the Vaporfly?
Sounds like the foam, drop and pods aren’t your best option. The ASICS is more VF like in its setup. Thanks for tuning in!

I’m intrigued by the MSSP because the Takumi Sen 8 isn’t bouncy enough to push my creaky old bones under 22:30 in the 5K. I use the Endorphin Pro 2 for 10k/15k/HM and that works pretty well, but I could do with any help I can get. 😅
It’s certainly more low to the ground and I find it’s not a cadence like shoe for me. The Sen works well when I open up my stride. A bit like the asics Metaspeed Sky paris.
Try the Nike Streakfly. Lighter and much bouncier than the Sen
Hey edd,I know you’re a fellow sneakerhead as well. I love using the vomero 5s for casual use. Love the comfort in them. With the forefoot zoom air and air at the hell,I know they are still running shoes. I’m really tempted in using then just on a half marathon distance nothing crazy fast just a sub 2. What you think? And don’t you wana make a review on them? Haha

Picking up my 2024 selection on last year's bargains for a nice rotation. Hoka Mach 5 for £70 last week, NB4 for £72, and Triumph 21s for £80 just ordered. I was tempted by Superblasts at £125, but I don't really need them, still got Speed 2s (£55 last summer) with only 70-80 miles on them and Puma Deviate Nitro 2 (£80).
Superblast is a worthy addition at that price
@@EDDBUD Thanks for the recommendation. They had an extra discount when I went back, probably an old colour, as only the red/salmon (?) was so heavily discounted, so picked up the Superblast up for just £105. Arriving tomorrow! I'll probably sell the Speed 2's on ebay as I doubt I need both.

Hi Edd! Which shoes would you recommend for 10k, vapourfly 3 or takumi sen 9? I’ve got endorphin pro 1 as well. I’ve got to much shoes I reckon.
Sen 9 is easily enough for that. The vf3 is more a marathon or half shoe these days.
Which shoe would you recommend for everyday mostly looking for comfortably and durable in the rain (socks not getting soaked completely)

The Cielo is doing ok. The daily ones have always dissolved away pretty quick though.

Sky Paris feel like pumped up versions of my Takumi Sen 8. Had to send them back and reorder as insoles not stuck down properly and sounded like SpongeBob with every step. Noone’s mentioned the strong smell from them, probably requires an EN 405 level mask if kept in an enclosed space!

Which shoes would you choose for a heavy forefoot striker between the cielo X1 and the puma fast r 2?
Personally the alphafly is the one for that as you will get that bit more out of the air units
@@EDDBUD Yeah, thanks for your reply. I can buy both the Fast R and the Cielo for under 200€ so my doubt. Also the Alphafly 3 aren’t available and they’re expensive 😬
@@stefanoberetta4552 the fast-r in this case a better bet. The Cielo is a nice cruiser but a bit over priced.
I'm finding the Speed 4 to be fantastic. I don't think it's as good at really slow paces as I was hoping, but anything under maybe 5 minutes per km it feels great. I went out for 10km run this afternoon with no specific pace in mind and ran 4:10 per km. I was very happy with how my legs felt after the run too. When I did a run at about 5:15 to 5:30 pace I actually got pain in my lower leg so my Triumphs can do that job when needed.
I'm a bit disappointed by the Velocity Nitro 3. I'm finding them a bit harsh and I'm getting bad rubbing under the arch. I've done over 400km in the Hyperion Max so I'm not against a firm shoe. I've also done over 400 in the Velocity Nitro 2 which just feels more relaxed and disappearing to me.
The Novablast 4 I don't like at all. I just find it to be a slappy clog and I just cannot get a nice fit.
My wife has the Pro 4 which she loves and will be using in the Canberra marathon this weekend.

Man those Puma shoes are durable! I've abused the Deviate Nitro 2 for half a year and still feel fresh!
650k in mine and they look and feel brand new. The grip is unreal too I remember unboxing them and they felt and sound like tentacles...still do even now!

Is DN2 good for slow run? Is the plate hurting the foot for slow run? Keen to get one but fear it may not suit the slow runner in me
@@danieltay1052 I've ran as slow as 6min/kms and yes they're comfortable and good imo. I don't see them as a tempo personally. Anything faster than 4:15/4:20 for me I need something else if I want it to feel easier.
Is it worth buying the alphafly 3 for a beginner? I have previous running experience and I’m aiming for 3:30 for my first marathon. A local store has the endorphin pro 3s for 40% off, so I’m not sure if it’s worth paying way more for the alphafly (or buying a super shoe at all, since i probably won’t run another marathon for another whole year). Thanks!
The alphafly is a good shoe. Though it takes some getting used to
Anyone heard of any supply issues with Adios Pro 3's, particularly on the older models... My wife is struggling to get a UK 5.5

The Hyperion max is ace and light. The novablast 4 is a good all rounder as is the speed 4 from Saucony.

It’s a sandwich of foams. Nitro on top and some use of Eva below. Don’t be put off by that. It works well
@@EDDBUD Oh, I'm not. I was just comparing the midsole to version 2, where I believe that Nitro was that whole blue section. Mostly I actually enjoy dual foam setups. Thanks for the info!

I tried the Metaspeed Edge Paris. Maybe it was just the pair I got, but I had to send them back. The left shoe did not fit well and my foot slid around in it causing a hot spot, and although I am a neutral runner, my right ankle over-pronated. Again, maybe it was just the pair I got, but I was very disappointed. I had purchased these planning to wear them for an April 13 marathon.
That’s a real shame. Hope you can sort it

I think Pro4 is less bouncy and aggressive than Pro 3 and 2.
Nike Alphafly 3 Would Be Definitely At Best No. 1 Shoes.

Well done on the 10K PB. Kind of ironic that the best shoe for you here is the only one that does not come in my UK 13. Why ASICS choose to limit their appeal a bit is puzzling. I may have to give the AF3 another go as struggled with that one so still Vaporflys for me for races & other fast days. Speed 4, VN3, Mach 6, Rebel v4, Novablast 4 been my other pickups this year (or end of last) and all are doing a turn although can’t say any of them overly excite me but I certainly won’t get bored trying different ones daily.
I put it down to them not having long enough rulers. 🤣 Seriously don’t know why they haven’t done larger runs on these.
