For anyone looking for a running shoe that’s great for easy runs and long runs that’s also not $200+, buy the New Balance SC Trainer V1. I bought it not too long ago and it’s easily the best trainer I’ve ever had.

Great video as always and just a quick question. How do all of you manage to buy the shoes without your wife realising? Would really love it if someone could solve this conundrum of mine.
Great video. I use heart rate for running, and it shows all my base/long runs in heart rate zone 2. I guess that's what you mean by easy? So, if you had to choose just two out of those, one for easy/long runs and one for tempo, sprints, VO2 max, and threshold runs, which would you choose? I currently have the Pegasus Turbo 2 for hard efforts and the Nike Pegasus 37 for base and long runs. Thanks again for very informative and well executed content.
Hi Ben, love the channel. I hope you're feeling good for your next race. I'm running a marathon later this month. I need to buy a new pair of trainers. Please let me know if you're still backing the Gel Nimbus for comfort for the marathon distance and if not what you'd recommend for comfort. Many thanks
I'm looking for the bounciest shoe out there. I think the term they use is energy return. I need it for walking, running, everything. But what is the idea of a carbon plate? Is that only for running? Is it so bad for walking with a shoe that has this carbon plate ?? I need something that adds a spring in my stride. Which shoe would this be???
I would like to get the Superblast but because of the price i am happy with the Novablast 3 which i find is also good at a variety of speeds. And i agree that the Gel Nimbus is one of the most comfy shoes out there!
@@BenParkes does that imply you weren’t a fan? 😆 I like my New Balance FC SP Trainers V1 for easy/recovery, love my Saucony Speed 3s for faster efforts, bought Saucony Pro 4s for races but considering the Cielo for full marathon to give me a little extra roll and punch
What about the GEL-KINSEI MAX for speed/HIIT runs? I know each shoes has a break-in period but I haven't seen much about this shoe. I added them in my rotation with NovaBlast 4 and Gel-Nimbus' 26

I was disappointed myself with nimbus 25s. Couldn’t understand why people thought it was cushy. I admit step-in felt great, but otherwise, just wasn’t for me. Prefer Saucony Triumph on slow days. And even the Superblasts are so much more comfortable for me. Nimbus feels hot, and toebox is too narrow, and the rocker feels nonexistent to me. When I’m tired or going downhill and heel strike, I guess then it shines a little due to so much cushion in the heel, but otherwise, forefoot or mid foot striking, never felt much cushion, and never understood the hype for it, and felt like I wasted money ordering it online. Not a horrible shoe and they seem to last like tanks, but, prefer triumph’s springiness and the Superblasts are great at everything. SC trainers as well, the midsole for me feels like made out of wood, upper is comfy, but midsole foam is so dead and shoes feel heavy/cumbersome after a few miles. But everyone’s feet and tastes different for sure.
That’s a shame it doesn’t work for you. I just ran in my 25s twice this weekend and it’s my most comfortable shoe for long runs during my marathon block. Only shoe that I’d say has better step in feel is the original Nike Invincible, but that can’t beat the 25s when actually running.
@@dougmatthews8469 it might be that you used to more responsive shoes, which I felt same after switching from Wave Rider 18 to Nimbus 24. I was dissappointed at that time. I understand you. I bought Adistar 2.0 after recommendation and and I wonder if they are not good compared to these models? Or you can feel the difference so clearly. I have problems with my knees and am looking for something soft and springy.
Maybe I'm old school but I don't like these extra foamy/squishy deals. I LOVED the early Asics Kayanos.. fairly low profile, excellent construction, forefoot and heel gel pads, midfoot torsion support. Worth every penny of the $140 dollar price tag.
hey ben thanks for the post. just wondering what all shoes you are considering running comrades in? i love superblast. i feel like it is the best comfort shoe for road ultras?
@@BenParkes Hi Ben. Im thinking the same thing. Will you half a size up to account for feet swelling. Im between a 10.5 and an 11 and the 10.5 pinch my pinky toe after mile 20.
What shoes would you recommend for an all around gym shoe? I am usually on the treadmill for about an hour and then do some machine and weight training. I don't want to have to bring 2 pairs of shoes, however I want some balance and stability for weight and machine training, as well as being decent for running on the treadmill. Any suggestions? Many thanks!!
At what pace would you consider buying a plated race day shoe? When it's absolute waste of money, and at about what treshold you start to reap it's benefits? My 5k PB in recovery of two sided slipped disk is 27.59 (and also effed that run), and i aim at 5k25min at Helsinki City Running Day... Should i just keep rocking Novablast3tr/Clifton 9, or should I consider a plated shoe?
In general a plated shoe gives more benefits the faster you run. Speed is also very subjective due to your experience, goals and milage. But I wouldn't use a plated shoe for any tempo or interval sessions above 4:30. Before getting a plated shoe I did my interval sessions in the Novablast 3 just fine, even when my interval pace was below 4:00. Yes it's more comfortable and feels a bit easier now with a plated shoe but it's not a must at all. Novablast 3 is a very nice and versatile shoe so keep using them just like the clifton. But feel free to try a plated shoe at your local running store to feel the difference.
And how about the Cumulus? Kayano should be the stability shoe (aka the premium version of the GT2000) (for pronation) and the Nimbus should be a Neutral shoe.
Classic Sunday Ben Parkes coming along to ruin my bank account again😂😂

No Brooks? Did they just not make the list as I was wondering how the Glycerine GTS would compare. Thanks
ZoomX Invincible 1 for me. Kinda feels like I’m bouncing on the moon 🌚
any news on the Altras? I like the idea of going with a smaller rise 0mm would probably be ideal?
Just came across your channel. Question, most comfortable treadmill shoe recovering from back surgery. Use to running due to being in the military for 18yrs.
Mizuno WAve Rider 27 are my next one
Right bays, out of all these shoes what would one recommend for a marathon?
Noosa is so overrated....got a parking fine last time i was there. I do like running through the national park though. Hot tip, park at Sunshine Beach instead of trying to park at Nashos in Noosa.
Just be careful the vaporfly 3 have very poor support.
My Nimbus 26’s are on order, can’t wait to give them a run now!
Great video 👍 I'm running my first marathon this year would my Puma forever run nitro be a good trainer to run it in or would you suggest another please 👍
I bought Adistar 2.0 after recommendation and and I wonder if they are not good compared to these models? Or you can feel the difference so clearly. I have problems with my knees and am looking for something soft and springy.
I’ve always been a New Balance guy, those Super Comps look right in my wheelhouse.
Maybe I'm old school but I don't like these extra foamy/squishy deals. I LOVED the early Asics Kayanos.. fairly low profile, excellent construction, forefoot and heel gel pads, midfoot torsion support. Worth every penny of the $140 dollar price tag.
Where can I get a Superblast in South Africa 😢
Which is great for wide feet? I had Ghost 15 wide, but need faster shoes for race day.
I literally run these exact routes around the Thames Path! 😅
thank you for the advice, I will try the nike vapor fly that you recommended
Just ordered the gel nimbus 26. Can't wait to try them on.
That looks like a fun shoe!
@@Tomcat304I got my shoes and went for a long run. Easily the best cushioned shoes I've worn. Could use it for daily errands too.
Is nimbus 26 good for standing a lot and casual walking? I have a bit wider feet and I'm heavier. 26, hoka 8 or Gaviota 5?
hey ben thanks for the post. just wondering what all shoes you are considering running comrades in? i love superblast. i feel like it is the best comfort shoe for road ultras?
probably superblast
@@BenParkes Hi Ben. Im thinking the same thing. Will you half a size up to account for feet swelling. Im between a 10.5 and an 11 and the 10.5 pinch my pinky toe after mile 20.
What shoes would you recommend for an all around gym shoe? I am usually on the treadmill for about an hour and then do some machine and weight training. I don't want to have to bring 2 pairs of shoes, however I want some balance and stability for weight and machine training, as well as being decent for running on the treadmill. Any suggestions? Many thanks!!
Hi Ben,
Is there a stability speed shoe in the market? I’m currently using gel kayano 29 & 30 for my training and races
Little bit surprised you chose the Vaporfly 3 over the Alphafly 3, aren't those supposed to be more comortable?
The Hoka Cielo X1 is awesome! Fast and comfortable!
Came here looking for which shoe I can get for Comrades Marathon 😅and I think I found my shoe. Thank You 🙏🏾
At what pace would you consider buying a plated race day shoe?
Great job on video
How are the New Balance Rebel v4 and the On Cloudsurfer?
Can we get a supernova and have the novablast with FF Turbo?
Similar to the Peggy Turbo
Howzit Ben! Hopefully see you at Comrades this year. What would you choose for a slow, steady Comrades... Asics Gel-Nimbus 25 or the Hoka Bondi 8?
How is the Gel Nimbus vs Gel Kayano? Just bought the Gel Kayano because I wasn't sure about all the cushioning as I like a bit more energy return.
And how about the Cumulus?
Kayano should be the stability shoe (aka the premium version of the GT2000) (for pronation) and the Nimbus should be a Neutral shoe.
