    I have adjusted the cable on my vintage 1971 Kawasaki Trail Boss 100 (3300 original miles) but it still doesn't disengage the clutch when putting it in gear? Your video mentioned other parts that might need replacing? Any guesses as to my problem? Thanks!

    Do you have to lube it? I don't have oil for that wd40 works for that or not?

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lubing your cables is good practice and can prolong the life and sliding action. Check out our cable lubes we sell here: www.rockymountainatvmc.com/Sales/834/How-To-Replace-A-Dirt-Bike-Clutch-Cable . I would recommend you pick up some. It's not very expensive.

  • @danielpatrick368

    Mine is on the side like mentioned. Is there a reason behind doing below first, lever last? I ask because that's how you explained. Just wanted to be sure

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Adjusting the clutch side first allows you to make bigger adjustments so that you can do your fine tuning on the lever side to get the correct free play and to make future adjustments when components wear.

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Are you talking about the actuating arm that's on the engine? If the clutch worked before the cable broke, it should work again as soon as you get the new cable on. th-cam.com/video/9s8FqEBONlk/w-d-xo.html -Charles

      I would assume you have springs installed in the clutch basket, so maybe your rod isn't in correctly or have no rod at all?

    • @alexchapman4747
      @alexchapman4747 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Castaways_fishing that’s just the clutch being too tight but it is ok, you might want to make it a little more slack, until you can shift it into gear and not stall

      My new bike came with clutch drag. It seems pretty normal. New plates could get rid of it though. I heard roughing up surfaces of the plain plates helps them hold oil and reduces clutch drag.

      It controls the engagement of the clutch without leaking fluid or air bubbles impacting it.
