I think it's complete saga where you turn off the music in the settings and the cantina band then have no instruments but when music on they do have instruments.
I prefer Mos Eisley from the second over the complete saga, it is so much more charming, mystique, and well designed. Am I the only one who thinks this?
Yeah I didn't realize it was from TOT so I was confused and disappointed to not have found the "great outside" figured it was a secret my friend had found but nope we played TOT not TCS.
I played Lego Star Wars 2 on the PS2. I was able to play as prequel characters because my memory card had the save files of the first game. Therefore I could play whatever characters I had unlocked there. Pretty neat.
One difference you missed is in the Death Star Escape level, the ending cutscene actually has Luke Screaming while in The Complete Saga he just has blank expressions. Also even though challenges weren’t in the console version, but Challenge mode was actually in the PSP version. This is how the Prequel characters are unlocked, by completing a challenge you will get a prequel character. Princess Leia (Boushh) is different between both versions. In LSW2 she permanently haves the helmet making her a usable Bounty Hunter for free play, while TCS she doesn’t keep the helmet so you would have to buy a Bounty Hunter from Wuher in the Cantina.
Yeah it's weird how some stuff is better in the complete saga and other stuff is just weirdly missing. That and the sound cutting out at the end of the millennium falcon level is real rough.
In Lego Star Wars 2, with the Custom Character Creator, if you equip a custom character with a Black Hood and then play that character in a level and take them somewhere the camera can’t see them, their Icon will appear and display the Imperial Spy logo. In The Complete Saga, the icons for Custom Characters are just their actual silhouettes.
In the opening cutscene of Betrayal Over Bespin, Han is still wearing his Hoth outfit when he is frozen in Carbonite instead of his Skiff outfit, this was fixed in The Complete Saga. Also in Lego Star Wars II, Leia (Boushh) wears her helmet outside of the Jabba’s Palace Story, which was changed in The Complete Saga.
i grew up playing lego star wars 1 and 2 on the game cube and then i played the complete saga on my phone years later. the experience always felt way different playing the complete saga but i could never put my finger on why. so im the exact target audience for these videos. thank you for making them
You we're honestly better off playing the complete saga on the Xbox 360 then on your phone since the mobile port of the complete saga is very buggy and not fun to play at all due to all the microtransactions and the controls themselves
@@andrewwang5149 Holy crap, same here! I also knew there were subtle differences between, I just chalked up the differences to having added the prequel films to TCS. But there is a surprising amount of differences nonetheless! Kind of glad I didn’t play on Xbox 360 though, only had to pay in studs to “Use Old Save”!
In Complete Saga many character models and other models has increased number of polygons (which makes them more smooth and detailed), and levels has enhanced textures. In some places, models were fixed to show their back/inner sides. There are many minor differences with shader effects.
In Mos Eisley Space Port during the final part of the level the Imperial spy makes three different sounds into the walkie talkie in TCS. In the original trilogy he makes the same sound three times.
With the R2 cutscene, it doesn't look like they removed the red light, rather just added more lighting to the scene in general so the red light is much less apparent.
In betrayal, one of the free play minikits requires you to get into a room and shoot the chandelier in the sequel. In CS, you just have to get in, and the minikit is on the table.
In Escape From Echo Base, there's the room where you have to slide down a slope and hit the buttons on the way down to open the door to the next room. In The Complete Saga, a clip of the door opening plays, which isn't there in Lego Star Wars II. The Episode Bonus doors in the hub world must be built in Lego Star War II, but are already there in Complete Saga. In Lego Star Wars II, you get a Gold Brick for completing the Super Story (even if you do not beat 1 hour or 100,000 studs). While you no longer get a Gold Brick for completing the Super Story in The Complete Saga, it still counts towards your completion percentage. The text for completing Super Story is also slightly different between games. Using Return of the Jedi as an example, in Lego Star War II, it says: "Episode VI: Return of the Jedi - Super Story Complete" In The Complete Saga, the Episode and Roman Numeral aren't shown. It just says: "Return of the Jedi - Super Story Complete"
This was really interesting to watch. I grew up with both games, played the OT first and then Complete Saga. Always preferred to play the OT for nostalgic reasons. Seeing the differences highlighted made me realize how many subtle ones there really are. Thanks for this video.
Depends on what scene you're looking at, but yeah. Some look a lot better in TCS, while others look a lot better in 2, which is just really surprising to me, but 2 looks like it had insufficient lighting in a lot of places so I think they just overcorrected sometimes to make sure the levels were readable. Oh, and TCS seems to slightly suffer from the bloom plague of the 7th console generation.
TCS is often way too bright while 2 is often way too dark. Personally I've always hated the way Dagobah looks in TCS, all the atmosphere is sucked right out of it, but some levels in 2 are so dark it can genuinely become difficult to see what you're doing.
@@videogamingfreak13I don’t think the original is too dark. I would agree if your using this video as a reference but he seems to have very low gamma on the recording since the game doesn’t look like this when you actually play it.
For Jundland Wastes in LSW2, there's a protocol panel that can be used by R2D2 near Obi Wan's house. Vice versa can be said for the panel in the Dagobah caves. They fixed this in TCS. Also the puzzle near the end of Dagobah is different. In LSW2 you had to put a motorcycle in a washing machine. TCS you don't do that.
When I was younger every summer I'd go to my Granddad's lakehouse for a few days. I'd usually get bored pretty quickly, but luckily he had an old pc with LEGO star wars II and star wars jedi academy. I couldn't have been happier as a star wars fan.
In the sequel the bounty Hunter access panel pictures show Princess Leia in her Bouush disguise only in jabba's Palace. Also in the sequel in Dagobah, the astromech droid access panel picture flashes just like the protocol Droid access panel picture does in secret plans
Honestly a lot of the differences between the original games and TCS are probably just them not noticing details went missing when porting over the levels to a different game.
In the level battle of hoth, those black droids will try to still your bombs when you pick them up. While this happens in the sequel they removed it from the complete saga
The thing about the storm trooper room in Death Star escape is you gotta clear the room, then rush to close the doors, and then hurry building the door. Best way I found to deal with this is stand still and spam shooting as Han Solo as his automatic dodge is by far the best in the game. I almost never get hit when doing it this way, especially if I wait just outside the room and make the troopers rush towards me. But yeah that room SUCKS otherwise. lmao
You wanna know what's worse? Doing the RetroAchievement set for the game, and having to do that level deathless. Though to be honest, the vehicle levels are still more of a pain.
I think you meant 2006 for the original game, but still a fantastic video! I never realized how much of a difference there was between the two. Thanks!
Ah this feels good to watch growing up with the Original Trilogy on PS2. When I played the complete saga years later I wondered why it felt like a worse experience. Pardon if you held it dearly but for me the OT is just the better game and this video proves it.
1:35 Minor correction, the separated Story Mode and Free Play stud meters *are* indeed present in another game, and funnily enough it’s The Complete Saga for Nintendo DS! Other than that that I noticed, great video! Some of the weird quirks between these two versions surprised me, honestly.
i used to play lego star wars 2 demo religiously, also i never played complete saga or lego star wars 2 but lego star wars 2 open worldish feel you can "feel it" which is why I loved it so much also two player costumizatons you can't beat that
in lego star wars 2 darth vader has his iconic breathing sound but in the complete saga he dose not have his iconic breathing sound, very simular to Dagobah cave when you said about hearing dath vader in lego star wars 2 but no in the complete saga.
0:28 tell me about it, younger me STRUGGLED on that room back in the day lol but dang that game was my childhood, I remember playing it on my mom's windows vista computer then eventually playing it on my own laptop
There is actually a trick to make that room easier. Buildable objects actually have checkpoints but only if you stop building them by yourself, so you need to start building then stop when more troopers spawn in and then just continue from where you left off after taking them out
The best strategy is standing just outside the room when the door opens and play as Han as he has the best dodge move. Just spam the shoot button and you shouldn't get hit, then rush to close the doors and kill any other troopers that spawn, and hurry to build the exit. After that no more should spawn, that room is horrible with any other strategy from what I noticed.
There was also the turret section in one of the death star missions; in the hallway you fine Leia in, if you enter the elevator the troopers keep coming out of, you can find a hidden room where you control a deathstar turret and shoot tie fighters
another difference, if I'm not mistaken, in TCS nearly all of the men have the Luke dying voice, but in LSW2 some characters like Han Solo doesn't even scream when they die, I think Luke's scream is exclusive to him in LSW2
In LEGO Star Wars II, you can actually force choke/electrocute Battle Droids, Droidekas, and Genosians. However in TCS, regardless of playing as a Jedi or a Sith, they would be force pushed.
Don't a bunch of the characters have different walking/running animations? I thought at least Ben Kenobi and also the custom Jedi characters who have his animations did
Actually, the PSP version of LSW2 has Challenges. Speaking of the PSP version, all the Bounty Hunter missions are replaced with Boss Fights from Lego Star Wars 1, and are unlocked at the start of a new Save File. Along with that, unlocked characters don’t appear in the Cantina, presumably due to hardware limitations.
Actually Lego star wars 2 did have challenges on the psp version. They were used for unlocking the prequel characters. They even had all the last chapters from episodes 1,2 and 3 from the original game
Know things start to make sence I played Lego Star Wars II with my friend so I was confused that I couldn't find the big outside in the complete saga, I thought I somehow kept missing a door in Mos Eisley.
7:19 actually I think that’s the same beeping the mines make in Jedi battle I think was the level, in episode 2 The Geonosis arena But in terms of this exact bomb I mean yeah you’re right no sound
2:58 that basically ruined the complete saga for me. My best lego star wars memories are with "the speedo torpedo trooper," and making a custom character where I have slave Liea top, beach trooper bottom, trooper helmet for the trooper doors, red lightsaber for dark force powers, and a cape so I wouldn't confuse the beach trooper for my OP custom character.
The OT had 3 challenges for each movie, 1 was collecting 1mil studs as a minifig, 1 was the same thing but as a minikit ship, the third was just replaying the story but beating it in under an hour with at least 100k studs. I don't remember TCS enough to know what you mean by "slam" challenge.
9:53 one difference that’s almost shown in the video itself is that the objective for the first area of Falcon Flight is different between games. In LSW2 you need to destroy all 16 turrets where in Complete Saga you need to use Proton Torpedos to knock out the Star Destroyers.
Wait hold on the one right after shows them being the same, is there different versions of LSW2??? Like I’m playing on GameCube right now I played that level like an hour ago and I know for a fact you can’t even obtain Proton Torpedos in the first area
The PSP version of Lego Star Wars II had the challenge mode, and the rewards for completiton of each level were prequel characters. I still have it on my PSP ready to go.
Some handheld ports of LEGO games had split stud meters too! LEGO Batman 1 on the DS had a separate meter for Free Play, and I'm sure there are others.
I never liked that in TCS the character icons are the character models instead of sprites like in TOT, however this can be changed with a mod and fun fact: The DS version of The Complete Saga uses the original 2005-2006 render models, probably because the file sizes were smaller than the PC and home console abominations of icons.
They probably removed Vaders breathing from the Dagobah cave because hearing disembodied breathing gave kids anxiety. Sure did to me when I played it as a kid. Got used to it after a few playthroughs but it wasn't very pleasant.
3:25 There's a cheat code thats only in Star Wars 2 the original trilogy that allows you to make Santa Claus in the character creator. This is not in the complete saga. (Fun fact before this Santa had appeared in Star Wars: X-Wing video game as a hidden Easter egg)
I think you missed a lot of potential differences, which would come with comparing how the prequel characters function in both games. For example, I remember that in LSW2, you can actually force-push a Droideka, which you can't do in either LSW1 or TCS. Most players would never see that.
Generally the sequel game seems to have much better mood lighting, while the complete saga adds brighter lights everywhere. Maybe it was to make it less scary for kids?
good thing i have the origional trillogy Lego star wars 2 on my ps2 its crazy the little things they take out like the characters walking in after u being removed from tcs rediculous lol
The gamecube version of lego star wars ll has different pitch sound effects, etc. Using the force to make someone dizzy or jumping off a cliff with certain characters
1:40 - Actually, the meters a *also* seperate in Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga - the DS version. Weird I know. But just thought I'd point that out.
I find it interesting and somewhat infuriating that pretty much every change that was made for The Complete Saga was for the worse. This goes for Lego star wars 1 aswell.
2:48 Actually, the reason why the hearts are spaced out in Lego Star Wars II, is because it's a 16:9 aspect ratio issue. The first game and Lego Star Wars II were both originally made for 4:3, and the hearts in those games are spaced out similarly to The Complete Saga. However, when you turn on 16:9 widescreen (Lego Star Wars II only, the first game didn't have a 16:9 widescreen option), the hearts gets spaced out further from each other. The spacing out issue was fixed in The Complete Saga, so that they're spaced out the exact same way as if you were playing on 4:3.
In Lego Star Wars 2, you could pick up the fences in the crane/grabber part of level 1 of A New Hope (the part where you meet Rebel Friend). You cannot in the complete saga. 0/10 - No fence lifting
If copyright is an issue, for future videos you can turn off the film music in the game’s settings
This is it
Or you can also use those sites that separate music from vocals/sound effects.
I think it's complete saga where you turn off the music in the settings and the cantina band then have no instruments but when music on they do have instruments.

It still plays in the cutscenes

I knew the sequel was different! I actually prefer how it was vs the Complete Saga.
So basically they removed small, cool, nice details for literally no reason. GJ
There were a few smaller lego games which had two stud meters for each level, like ninjago shadow of ronin
1:48 LSW 3: TCW also had separate story/free play true jedi scores in the DS version.
Removing the speedos was a crime
Generally the sequel game seems to have much better mood lighting, while the complete saga adds brighter lights everywhere. Maybe it was to make it less scary for kids?
lando’s skiff guard skin has white arms in the complete saga when they used to be black in the original trilogy
Thank you been looking for something like this video, cuz I just modded my 3ds original
Nice pfp
You should do a difference of LEGO Harry Potter years 1-4 and 5-7
good thing i have the origional trillogy Lego star wars 2 on my ps2 its crazy the little things they take out like the characters walking in after u being removed from tcs rediculous lol
The gamecube version of lego star wars ll has different pitch sound effects, etc. Using the force to make someone dizzy or jumping off a cliff with certain characters
In the psp version of lego star wars 2, there was a challenge mode where you can complete it to unlock prequel characters
It’s a real shame that they covered up the beach troopers’ glorious pecks in the complete saga
All the differences make me like LSW2 better (I actually played it more than the complete saga as a kid)
After playing it on both version I am pretty sure the original version of Into the Deathstar had WAY less torpedo enemies to give you them
"you can hear Darth Vader breathing in the background" that's because player 2 is DV
I mean, the original trilogy was also on OG Xbox too, so the prequel trilogy character integration was a little more normal
Played 2 first, I always wondered why some parts of the complete saga felt off
The beach trooper censorship went too far. I can't believe they took our speedo troopers from us. Literally unplayable.
4:59 it wasn't removed, it was merely tuned down. You can still see the red tint in the complete saga.
tbh I consider sequel much more enriched by the sound effects than TCS
In Lego Star Wars 2, you could pick up the fences in the crane/grabber part of level 1 of A New Hope (the part where you meet Rebel Friend). You cannot in the complete saga.
0/10 - No fence lifting
