I think part of the reason why many characters end up being dissapointing in this game is due to the character class system. All characters in one class need to share the same abilities more or less, which means characters feel like reskins
There's also no overlap between classes. Like, in LEGO Star Wars II, 4-LOM was a Bounty hunter, but he could also use protocol droid panels. The closest you get is Episode VII Rey (and she can't use the force)
The truth is the character class system was just them cheaping out and making every character in each class feel exactly the same, it also prevents characters from having certain abilities cause they aren’t in the right class, exactly why we need a character customizer
Like how Grevious can’t grapple yet he has thermal detonaters? Huh? And don’t even get me started on the fact that bounty hunters can’t destroy silver Lego objects 😑
Mandalorians have just always been able to actually fly as seen in the Clone Wars so it’s completely stupid the ability isn’t in the game when you’ve been able to actually fly in Lego games since Lego Batman 2

It's like they didn't care about fan service, I thought classic mode would make it look like the old game. I just puts a yellow filter on it. And grevious can't even block with lightsabers
why exactly would they put indiana jones in a star wars game? yes it would be a cool reference but just because they didn't add a character from A DIFFERENT franchise doesn't mean the game is any worse

I really don't like how the devs boast about having "400 playable characters" when in reality the roster is much smaller with the majority of different outfits being something stupid like "Obi-wan episode 3 no cape" and then "obi wan episode 3 WITH cape." Wish they just had more characters than different outfits.
I think the biggest problem with a lot of characters in the game is probably the lack of hybrid like characters and lack of weapon difference. Take the bad batch for instant, Hunter could have the ability to use scoundrel targeting, Tech could be able to use protocol droid panels, Echo should have astromech capability’s, and Wrecker should have increased physical attack. Not to mention the amount of characters that have weapons that should be replaced, The Mandalorian, Fennec Shand, and Crosshair all have sniper weapons but instead of using the same sniper mechanic like some enemy’s they for some reason have burst fire. To my knowledge there are only 2 characters with a flamethrower, 2 characters with a machine gun, and 1 character with a rocket launcher. These weapons could easily be used more but just don’t I feel that they could and should have used them more. They could even just alter weapon firing speed and damage like with a few characters. T.L.D.R: why make something if you’re only gonna use it once?
I wish Sith lightining worked like on the older games, like TFA, where it's more like an infinite beam rather than just a quick attack. Completely agree with the Echo thing, he should totally be able to unlock droid terminals, and I think that is one of the problems with the game, the class system does nothing but limit the abilities of certain characters unlike the older games. And the force ghosts are dearly missed, more now that we could've had Luke and Leia too.
Honestly I feel like this game was a big downgrade from DC super villains, in that game they had a super good character customizer and each character was unique, it’s not like the Skywalker saga where literally every blaster character feels exactly the same, I mean really the new game has like ten characters with completely unique attacks, if we had gotten 200 characters but all of them were unique people would have been much happier
I’m okay with there being a class system so that characters in the same class shared a baseline set of skills to work through the puzzles. I just wish they had little unique quirks to each character. Not all of them, obviously-that’s unrealistic because obviously lots of the characters are just minor characters and extras in the films/shows. However, it would be great if there was a dedicated button for a character’s unique skills or even an equipment wheel much like the Scavengers’ selection menu, that you could then use any applicable unique skills/equipment
I just hate the fact that so many "extra" characters don't have any abilities whatsoever. Not even a blaster? The Master Codebreaker's description even says he has a blaster, but you can't use it! I love a lot of these characters, but when they can barely do any of the game's puzzles it's hard to justify having them on quick select.
While the class system was a good idea, I do feel like it removes the uniqueness from the characters. And the class upgrades aren't even that useful, so I would prefer having more base upgrades instead of classes and having atleast the important characters like Jango be more unique

As for the rest: Luminara Undili = Luke Plo Koon = Ben Kenobi Kit Fisto = Obi Wan Aayla Secura = Rey Shaak Ti = Barriss Offee = Mace Windu = Leia Yaddle = Yoda Ben Solo = Kylo Ren (obviously) Would have been great if they all had unique moves ofc but hey I think this is at least more than we had in the old games. Additionally there's some mixing and matching with animations outside of the combat. Like how Plo Koon has Ben Kenobi's fighting style but Obi Wan's jump. Or Kit Fisto who I believe might have a unique animation for drawing his lightsaber (not sure tho).

Well, You can cheese a lot of Kyber Bricks that normally require Scavengers' Gliders and Net Launchers (which you don't unlock until Episodes 6 & 7, despite getting Scavengers in the story as early as Episode 4) using just a Jedi and a Droid. And the game *encourages* you to do that.
Captain Phasma is really disappointing because she doesn’t have her special rifle. Jyn Erso is also disappointing because she doesn’t have her special pistol

in no particular order, here are the most disappointing for me: the fetts: limited jetpack use, flamethrower is only there as a combo the bad batch: really hoped they’d get their unique abilities snipers: very upsetting that the sniper characters were not really snipers, characters like aurra sing and crosshair should have been able to use scopes like in Lego Star Wars III force lightning users: same issue as the flamethrower for the fetts, it was only a combo gonkatine: completely agree with you on this one, was hyped to see what the gonkatine was, only to discover that it was just a gonk droid baze malbus: his gun acted like a normal blaster rather than the absolute beast of a blaster that we saw in the movie
An idea for Greedo is for him to say "Maclunkey" as an interaction if your second character Han kills him. For Max Rebo, he could have a voice like in Robot chicken.

Non of the characters really feel unique with the different classes it’s just which Star Wars character you like more from each class unlike previous ones (minus TLM2TVG) which even though they DID the same things as other characters there was different effects and stuff so they felt a little more unique (this is my opinion though and if you agree then you agree but if you don’t then you don’t)
Echo should be able to use protocol droid panels since he uses them in the animated show that would put him above the rest. It would make I'm special he is one of my favorite clones

Boba and Jango they could've just made their jetpacks like the glider that scavengers have. Where it doesn't really go up in the air that much but you can glide across stuff with it.
I personally was disappointed the most when I unlocked Plo Koon. They had James Arnold Taylor in the recording booth, and they didn't have him record even a few token lines for Plo. Nevermind that he's an Obi-wan clone, so he uses Obi's animation set. When I think Ep 6 Luke's would have fit him better, since they share a Saber Form.
Honestly I play Jango and Boba so much because of the jetpack, the reason I say this is because they basically have 3 jumps and way more mobility than any other bounty hunter.
I'm surprised noone is talking about this: but you can make the jetpack OP by double jumping before you hold down jump AFTERWARDS so you get a LOT more height and distance and it can be used to bypass most platforming segments in the game
I'm still bummed the character maker didn't happen especially with so many characters and NPCs meaning you could make some insane custom characters same with the strange handful of enemies that were exempt from the roster like geonosian,the enforcer and Canto bite police
I mean being able to hover with a jetpack is cool and all but I actually use the jetpack as a sort of triple jump which helps a lot with getting certain kyber bricks
Fun fact : the Grand Moff Tarkin litteraly beat Darth Vader in comics. I'm not joking, this old man beat Darth Vader. And just after the Death Star destroy Alderaan, he beat one of the Gunner almost to death, because he and his team had hesitated to fire. Then he throw them of the Death Star by a SAS (I don't know if that's in English). Plus, he have a knife in his boot I think. So yeah, the things they could have do with him... Very disappointing
Rugged, I have a proposal. A long video where you "fix" every character in the Skywalker Saga by removing classes and giving them all the proper attributes. Adding singing characters and stuff, too.
After seeing Doctor Who in Lego Dimension, I want a whole Lego Doctor Who game, it's been going since the 60's, so there is well more than enough for quite a big Lego game.
astro mech panels would be great for echo, and for wrecker to have extra durability and for force lifting items, wrecker can physically pick up the items with strength
Now you see, doctor evazan and ponda baba’s voice lines work because they’re an iconic duo, they talk to each other, same with leia and jabba. But greedo is a rodian, what the heck would he say? He only ever talks to Han!
In my opinion, Dooku is maybe one of the sith lord who was treated correctly, has really well made and unique lightsaber animations, though i do agree about the lack of force lightning, it was definitly better in TCS/TCW and TFA. Palpatine (not Emperor) in other hand is really disappointing, he's mostly a copy/paste of Qui Gon for his whole animations, he doesn't even have the "screaming spiral charge" he has done during the Palpatine Arrest from Episode III, and yet he had it in TFA...
I hate how much they disrespected Grand Moff Tarkin like he literally bullies Darth Vader and is in charge of the Death Star and they call him just Tarkin, take him away from the story, don't give him voice lines, and don't give him a side quest.

Greedo really deserves more respect for being iconic ngl - I had an original minifig of him that I loved, lost it because I was dumb enough to bring it to school, but needless to say, I thought he was pr cool.

My most disappointed character is for Jedi is aayla secura. She doesnt have any voice lines and her animations are limited to like 3. Wished they wouldve brought back her voice actress from clone wars

The Fetts jetpacks are even more dissappointing seeing how recently we saw Boba not just glide but properly fly in Book of Boba Fett.

Every DLC Character is disappointing because of no voice lines, especially for Ahsoka
At least Ashoka plays different than the other copy and paste characters.

The most dissapointing thing is the animation recycling, almost all of the jedi have Qui gon's moveset
So Qui gon is all the Jedi not Rey!

Tarpals missing his spear and shield was a huge letdown.

Boba and Jango they could've just made their jetpacks like the glider that scavengers have. Where it doesn't really go up in the air that much but you can glide across stuff with it.

I personally was disappointed the most when I unlocked Plo Koon.
They had James Arnold Taylor in the recording booth, and they didn't have him record even a few token lines for Plo.
Nevermind that he's an Obi-wan clone, so he uses Obi's animation set. When I think Ep 6 Luke's would have fit him better, since they share a Saber Form.
The biggest snag is the character class system. It makes everyone in a class feel the same

Honestly I play Jango and Boba so much because of the jetpack, the reason I say this is because they basically have 3 jumps and way more mobility than any other bounty hunter.
Tech is disappointing because he can't translate anything even though it's also mentioned in his description.

I'm surprised noone is talking about this: but you can make the jetpack OP by double jumping before you hold down jump AFTERWARDS so you get a LOT more height and distance and it can be used to bypass most platforming segments in the game

I mean being able to hover with a jetpack is cool and all but I actually use the jetpack as a sort of triple jump which helps a lot with getting certain kyber bricks

Fun fact : the Grand Moff Tarkin litteraly beat Darth Vader in comics. I'm not joking, this old man beat Darth Vader. And just after the Death Star destroy Alderaan, he beat one of the Gunner almost to death, because he and his team had hesitated to fire. Then he throw them of the Death Star by a SAS (I don't know if that's in English). Plus, he have a knife in his boot I think. So yeah, the things they could have do with him... Very disappointing
i also think the astromechs like R2 and R4 were dissapointing as they didn’t have the hover ability like jango and boba did in TCS
As amazing as the game is, the character classes make all the characters within their classes feel the same.
I think THE MOST disappointing character is Grogu because he’s not even a playable character but BABU FRIK IS how does that make sense!!

I just got this game and honestly I agree with a lot of your choices.
Mine is count dooku and palpatine/the emporer, i was so excited to use force lightning and was so disappointed ☹️
In my opinion, Dooku is maybe one of the sith lord who was treated correctly, has really well made and unique lightsaber animations, though i do agree about the lack of force lightning, it was definitly better in TCS/TCW and TFA.
Palpatine (not Emperor) in other hand is really disappointing, he's mostly a copy/paste of Qui Gon for his whole animations, he doesn't even have the "screaming spiral charge" he has done during the Palpatine Arrest from Episode III, and yet he had it in TFA...
I hate how much they disrespected Grand Moff Tarkin like he literally bullies Darth Vader and is in charge of the Death Star and they call him just Tarkin, take him away from the story, don't give him voice lines, and don't give him a side quest.
No sith lightning, no jetpack rockets or flying, and randomly issuing iconic blaster sounds (Jango and episode 1 padme come to mind)
Nah see Boba is kind of a wild pick, that jetpack is such a cheat code for like 50% of the puzzles

Greedo really deserves more respect for being iconic ngl - I had an original minifig of him that I loved, lost it because I was dumb enough to bring it to school, but needless to say, I thought he was pr cool.
I know that Jango Fett has problems, but he’s still the character I play as the most. Sure, that’s just because he’s my favorite SW character, but still…

My most disappointed character is for Jedi is aayla secura. She doesnt have any voice lines and her animations are limited to like 3. Wished they wouldve brought back her voice actress from clone wars

To fix Tarkin, instead of a normal gun, he could've had a really small death star it never stops until you stop holding the r2.
