It’s honestly a shame everyone instinctually calls Katagiri a jealous snitch, when she had everyone’s best interest in mind and then she’s called the runner up or second place. She’s actually very nice lady and I’m sure Ryuken did love her.

I really like your discussions. One of themes of Bleach is "Balance" and Ichigo embodies that perfectly. Having so many sides in him and he is forced to confront each one of them("good" or "bad")and embrace them after his losses makes his powerups really interesting. Ichigo fighting against his hollow in Arrancar arc cause of pre-conceived notion of "Hollows bad" and "fighting bad" but after going out of control and then coming to peace with that side vs Aizen and now is a good example of this. You have to have a balance. Instincts matter as much as Logic.
Beyond just his son, niece and nephews, I don't know if Isshin had anyone else close to him. But if Masaki was the only person to bring him such joy, I can't imagine how painful it must've been to lose her, and to live alongside Ichigo, who more than likely, reminded him of Masaki from time to time as he raised Ichigo all by himself.
People's issues with TYBW is the ending. No spoilers about the arc here, but IRL Kubo's health declined a lot towards the end of Bleach, and he also has never been a writer that likes the pressure and expectations put on him by editors and publishers. Those two things combined led to a rushed ending to Bleach that really left fans dissatisfied. So this adaptation is extremely important to us older fans. It's not only a chance to finally see this arc animated, but also a chance for Kubo to redeem himself and fix all the issues with the arc.
To put it into perspective how abrupt the ending was: At the end of June 2016 they told us Bleach was ending August 22nd 2016. So we had 10 weeks of Bleach left, when at that time people had been speculating we had 30+ weeks left to wrap everything up at the earliest.
@@JJ-tq5sk I don't think it'll get changed in terms of what happened, and I don't think the ending needs to be changed in that sense. The issue with the ending was that Kubo rushed through it. We've already seen the anime has been willing to take some time to flesh things out and streamline things, and I'm confident they'll do that with the ending as well. It's just a question of whether they can add enough to make it feel satisfying.

He had been hospitalized multiple times, had a lot of injuries and was exhausted, and chose to prioritize his health over extending the series further. He had been tempted to end the series earlier multiple times, but in the end he stated he ended the series at a location he was satisfied with.

His writing is extremely basic and average. And he is certainly not a master of foreshadowing. Nobody can tell me That Yhwatch was planned from the start. Every reveal in this final arc feels non-organic and jarring to me. Many things are so obvioulsy retconned that its absolutely crazy to me that there are people who seriously think that Kubo had some big plan from the start of the series.
You all ignoring Uryus Mom when infact Uryus mother dying plays a much more bigger role in the future arc than Misakis death... especially the way Kubo proved Ryukens love for her.. But it seems like nobody gives a sh*t about her.. Especially her death😕...

As we all know the Zanpaktou is representative of a Characters self progression and Here Ichigo finally gets a Completed Zanpaktou. Both parts of Zangetsu finally accept Ichigo because Ichigo finally accepts and loves himself, Which is something he couldn't do given his trauma. - That last bit about Yhwach being responsible for Masaki's death is also important because as I stated on several occasions Ichigo still carries that trauma, he still blamed himself for his mother's death, He couldn't accept himself because he was the cause of his greatest failure, and now he has a true target to point his blade towards. -Throughout the entire show Ichigo's Quincy power never said he was Zangetsu, in fact, the first & only time that part of Ichigo's soul spoke its name, we could not hear it. More important is that if you go back through the story "White" always told us that he is Zangetsu. Think about the entire SS arc, it was actually White that kept saving Ichigo. Kubo loves writing in this fashion where he blends Metaphors and Foreshadowing to make the viewers that pay attention cling to a false understanding. - Some still question "Then how did Ichigo have a Zanpaktou all this time". The hollow "White" was made from Shinigami Souls, so practically Ichigo had something akin to an Asauchi, yet made with a hollow as a base. This is also why whenever he got stronger as a Shinigami, His hollow powers did as well because his Shinigami and Hollow Powers are one. - It's really cool how Kubo uses Ichigo being a mixed breed to show that he has Quincy Powers, we can assume that this Young Ywach looking being existed in all Quincy, but unlike Ichigo, Quincies can't visit their inner soul...only Shinigami can, so Ichigo would be the only one in existence able of experiencing this. -This part of Ichigo that looks like Young Ywach seems to carry Quincy intent, yet also seeks to protect Ichigo. I always found it fascinating because this Quincy part of him believed becoming a Shinigami = Conflict and suffering so he actively tried to keep that from happening. I still wonder if maybe this belief comes from Ywach himself. - The special Gigai Urahara used with Isshin was the same kind Urahara used in an attempt to secretly turn Rukia Human. - The long Blade is representative of his Shinigami & Hollow powers and the short blade is his Quincy powers. - Bleach blends Buddhist themes and Christian themes when crafting its lore. Buddhism has a concept known as Samsara and within that concept, you have something known as 6 Paths, 3 of them are virtuous paths and the other 3 are unbenelovent paths...One of those "bad" paths is the Animal path, which plays into Komamura's clan being beast.
It technically don't finish Ichigo's development though. Ichigo still has those key moments with his core friends to go with, especially since most of his own friends has a plot thread that needs Ichigo's involvement.
Beautiful and well done from the anime. That line “Thank you Zangetsu,you are…me” always saw it as a way to finally acknowledge what his roots are and who he really is
I feel like there's a lot more kubo is holding back about uraharas background, he was meant to be the original aizen of the show and he does have a darker past we know nothing about
At this point, Urahara is more of Aizen's actual true rival/enemy. Basically almost all of the events in Bleach are just Urahara and Aizen playing Chess.
Near the end of the Can't fear your own world novel which is a sequel to the bleach manga, Urahara is having a chat with Yoruichi and he straight up says that if people like Ichigo, Byakuya and the book protagonist Hisagi knew what he has done to aquired the knowledge he holds, they would be horrified and try to catch him. So it's pretty much implied that Urahara has a lot of skeletons in his closet and the only person that knows about his past and doesn't care is Yoruichi Shihoin
Like I had previously said the peak of the series imo it ties soo many loose ends and makes me laugh at the “it should’ve ended after Aizen” comments we knew so little about what really happened to Masaki and of Ichigo’s origins. In these last 2 episodes you get the entire story from the start with Ichigo’s parents as well as the reveal that Zangetsu was a manifestation of Yhwach from a 1000 years ago I remember reading the manga and just being stunned at something that was hidden in pain sight.
Really enjoyed the discussion on Yhwach personally I prefer him over Aizen as a villain will be fun to see your opinions on him after all is said and done. Also can’t wait for the manga recap of Cour 1.
I thought Ishin was going to teach his son about the birds and the bees too, but man jumped straight to,"..and then you were born". Welp, I guess another time..
Something I haven't seen people talk about here in the comments is the fact that in the manga, Yhwach in the flashback from his fight with Yamamoto, looks almost identical to old man Zangetsu, as well as Yhwach having the same voice actor as old man Zangetsu since the beginning of the anime, so those two points are big forshadows. Also, the first time ichigo talks with old man Zangetsu, he tries to tell him his name, which ichigo is unable to understand, but in the anime, the last part of what he said seemed to have a "-ch" sound at the end, implying the name was set since then at least.
The only time people only thought twice White was actually is Ichigo's zanpakuto powers is during the Final Getsuga training. Meanwhile everybody 100% believes the liar since day 1 of his appearance. One of the Best red herring out there.
People who say this arc isn’t good are on some good shit…. The only thing bad about this arc was that Kubo got rushed by the higher ups to end BLEACH so he did what he can to wrap the story. That ending doesn’t mean it’s his definitive ending. After the ending gets animated, watch those people come back and get on the bandwagon. The disrespect to the great Kubo man. 🤦♂️

This cour is already 10/10, cour 2 and forward can only go up from here to 100/100. With the tease of more story and action and high quality animation, BLEACH is deservingly crowned King of the Big 3. Coming from me a die hard OP fan who say One Piece is the anime of this life time. I freaking love JJK but Cour 2 in my opinion will top season 2 of JJK Shibuya arc. Can’t freaking wait!!!! Mondays for now till July will be gloomy and nothing but the rain 🌧. 😢
The Zangetsu reveal makes me teally think about the Final Getsuga Tensho. We know that all of Ichigo's powers combined to fight him in his inner world and he accepted their blade before his fight with Aizen. The Final Getsugatensho is a combination of all his powers. The ability "Getsuga Tensho" (gathering Reiatsu in the blade an releasing it at once) is his shinigami powers, since Isshin used a Getsuga aswell. The Reishi of Ichigo's Getsuga, that's his hollow powers. The black Getsuga contains Hollow reiatsu and Ulquiorra Cifer compared it directly to a Cero Oscuras. The "Final" part of the Final Getsugatensho is his Quincy Powers. As Uryu did in the SS Arc, Quincy can use Letzt Stil to gain a significant powerup that causes them to lose their powers. And the Final Getsugatensho is all 3. His shinigami power is collecting and releasing Mugetsu, his hollow powers are what Mugetsu is made of and his quincy powers gave him the necessary strength to pull it off. However, it wasn't perfect. At that point in time Ichigo didn't know about the true power he possesses. To give you an analogy: The final Getsugatensho was like filling different colors of paint into a bucket and throwing it at the wall. Now, after this episode, Ichigo knows which power is which, and he has two blades signifying his Hollow-Shinigami side and his Quincy side. He can now start to carefully mix the colors together and paint a picture he likes.
Now we know why Tensa Zangetsu back when Ichigo was training to defeat Aizen said : I want to protect "You" I don't care about what you want to protect and why Ichigo sense sadness in his sword and he cried too

As far as i understand it... it went a little bit differently than what you described... but i might be wrong... Ichigo was NOT born with shinigami powers... also ichigo was born with just a seed... a spawn of the original white, while the real one died with ichigo's mom... Ichigo was a human, and bot a slumbering quincy and hollow... but then Rukia came in and TURNED him into a shinigami... at that moment he was borrowing her zanpakuto... then when Byakuya destroyed those powers Urahara came in and instead of actually giving him shinigami powers (which technically could not be done because ichigo was a human not a "spirit") he actually awakened his hollow powers instead but he trusted that the things inside him and his previous knowledge and feeling of how to be a shinigami would keep the hollow at bay just how it had for the vizards... THEN ichigo managed to subdue the hollow and shape it into the "fake" zangetsu bypassing the need of an azauchi to create his actual zanpakuto using his actual zangetsu... as "fake zangetsu" kept limiting ichigo's powers the power seeping out of his "seal" kept feeding both ichigo and "white" and they kept working together until they got to this point... Now zangetsu stopped sealing his power and ichigo got an actual azauchi into which he poured his hollow powers... then he finally poured his own power into that Hollow azauchi to create the new zangetsu... He is finally a full shinigami and all his hollow powers were also poured into the zanpakuto... which gave birth to sibling blades representing the duality of his power yet not that each blade is a different power...
Most vizards are good on a sprint a short 3min long spike of power... Mashiro is good for a marathon... she is not as strong as some others but she can keep that power going for VERY long, over 15hr...
The Asauchi gang was fine fighting Renji for 3 days in the Hooden. One look at Ichigo and they were like nah, we dont mess with soul reaper, hollow, quincy hybrids.

If there was a mistake with this Bleach return, its the worlwide streaming There are so many people using their Mugiwara Hats and pirate watching this season because Disney didnt freaking launch it for us Mostly english speaking countries got it, but Latinoamerica, we didnt, i heard about parts of Europe, Africa and Asia who didnt got it either, it was massive mistake and its painfull to say that I wasnt able to support this Bleach season with my wallet, at least not for the on air streaming, im still going to buy anything oficial they put out But mannnn... FROM MY MEMORIES from 10 years ago... this arc in the manga kept getting worse little by little not in terms of content itself... but it felt a lot like besides ichigo at this point nothing else really mattered... no matter what other people did or how stuffed happened... there were absolutely no stakes other than what will ichigo do?... a lot of the things happening around that thread felt like they were just padding... the characters introduced after ichigo getting his powers back... let's just say there was no way to get to know them or care for them... a couple of them felt like Kubo just ran out of ideas or he was just in a weird place... expectations of other characters just disappointing.. THAT is what made the pacing of this arc feel really really awful week to week... BUT thanks to the power of both money and actually having the full manga out in advanced... what we have gotten so far feels and looks actually way better than the manga so far... excellent animation, really good music, voice acting and effects... the perfect ambience for every scene... hype over the nostalgia... AND the anime is actually filling in a couple of spots here and there that came out of nowhere in the manga... I a pretty sure that 95% of the issues with the next part of the manga will be fixed just like that... the missing 5% is for sure that character that i am pretty sure most people hated as much as me but who can say... by the time this manga arc came around when i had just come out of college... none of the remaining friends i had were actually reading bleach anymore and the ones who probably did were gone so no idea what they thought about it...
Have to say... As of right now the anime is better by the manga... And for the remainder of the manga... The bar is not that high to beat so the anime will make it WAY better...

- It's really cool how Kubo uses Ichigo being a mixed breed to show that he has Quincy Powers, we can assume that this Young Ywach looking being existed in all Quincy, but unlike Ichigo, Quincies can't visit their inner soul...only Shinigami can, so Ichigo would be the only one in existence able of experiencing this.
-This part of Ichigo that looks like Young Ywach seems to carry Quincy intent, yet also seeks to protect Ichigo. I always found it fascinating because this Quincy part of him believed becoming a Shinigami = Conflict and suffering so he actively tried to keep that from happening. I still wonder if maybe this belief comes from Ywach himself.
- The special Gigai Urahara used with Isshin was the same kind Urahara used in an attempt to secretly turn Rukia Human.
- The long Blade is representative of his Shinigami & Hollow powers and the short blade is his Quincy powers.
- Bleach blends Buddhist themes and Christian themes when crafting its lore. Buddhism has a concept known as Samsara and within that concept, you have something known as 6 Paths, 3 of them are virtuous paths and the other 3 are unbenelovent paths...One of those "bad" paths is the Animal path, which plays into Komamura's clan being beast.
It technically don't finish Ichigo's development though. Ichigo still has those key moments with his core friends to go with, especially since most of his own friends has a plot thread that needs Ichigo's involvement.
Beautiful and well done from the anime. That line “Thank you Zangetsu,you are…me” always saw it as a way to finally acknowledge what his roots are and who he really is
Tosen is a poor man, also a good captain, you can know Tosen’s back story in Bleach novel.

I feel like there's a lot more kubo is holding back about uraharas background, he was meant to be the original aizen of the show and he does have a darker past we know nothing about
At this point, Urahara is more of Aizen's actual true rival/enemy.
Basically almost all of the events in Bleach are just Urahara and Aizen playing Chess.
Near the end of the Can't fear your own world novel which is a sequel to the bleach manga, Urahara is having a chat with Yoruichi and he straight up says that if people like Ichigo, Byakuya and the book protagonist Hisagi knew what he has done to aquired the knowledge he holds, they would be horrified and try to catch him.
So it's pretty much implied that Urahara has a lot of skeletons in his closet and the only person that knows about his past and doesn't care is Yoruichi Shihoin

Like I had previously said the peak of the series imo it ties soo many loose ends and makes me laugh at the “it should’ve ended after Aizen” comments we knew so little about what really happened to Masaki and of Ichigo’s origins. In these last 2 episodes you get the entire story from the start with Ichigo’s parents as well as the reveal that Zangetsu was a manifestation of Yhwach from a 1000 years ago I remember reading the manga and just being stunned at something that was hidden in pain sight.

Something I haven't seen people talk about here in the comments is the fact that in the manga, Yhwach in the flashback from his fight with Yamamoto, looks almost identical to old man Zangetsu, as well as Yhwach having the same voice actor as old man Zangetsu since the beginning of the anime, so those two points are big forshadows.
Also, the first time ichigo talks with old man Zangetsu, he tries to tell him his name, which ichigo is unable to understand, but in the anime, the last part of what he said seemed to have a "-ch" sound at the end, implying the name was set since then at least.
"I am Zangetsu" the hollow said this when Ichigo fights him to get his mask that was litteraly him telling the truth to Ichigo lol

People who say this arc isn’t good are on some good shit…. The only thing bad about this arc was that Kubo got rushed by the higher ups to end BLEACH so he did what he can to wrap the story. That ending doesn’t mean it’s his definitive ending. After the ending gets animated, watch those people come back and get on the bandwagon. The disrespect to the great Kubo man. 🤦♂️

The Zangetsu reveal makes me teally think about the Final Getsuga Tensho.
We know that all of Ichigo's powers combined to fight him in his inner world and he accepted their blade before his fight with Aizen.
The Final Getsugatensho is a combination of all his powers.
The ability "Getsuga Tensho" (gathering Reiatsu in the blade an releasing it at once) is his shinigami powers, since Isshin used a Getsuga aswell.
The Reishi of Ichigo's Getsuga, that's his hollow powers. The black Getsuga contains Hollow reiatsu and Ulquiorra Cifer compared it directly to a Cero Oscuras.
The "Final" part of the Final Getsugatensho is his Quincy Powers. As Uryu did in the SS Arc, Quincy can use Letzt Stil to gain a significant powerup that causes them to lose their powers.
And the Final Getsugatensho is all 3. His shinigami power is collecting and releasing Mugetsu, his hollow powers are what Mugetsu is made of and his quincy powers gave him the necessary strength to pull it off.
However, it wasn't perfect. At that point in time Ichigo didn't know about the true power he possesses.
To give you an analogy:
The final Getsugatensho was like filling different colors of paint into a bucket and throwing it at the wall.
Now, after this episode, Ichigo knows which power is which, and he has two blades signifying his Hollow-Shinigami side and his Quincy side. He can now start to carefully mix the colors together and paint a picture he likes.

As far as i understand it... it went a little bit differently than what you described... but i might be wrong...
Ichigo was NOT born with shinigami powers... also ichigo was born with just a seed... a spawn of the original white, while the real one died with ichigo's mom...
Ichigo was a human, and bot a slumbering quincy and hollow... but then Rukia came in and TURNED him into a shinigami... at that moment he was borrowing her zanpakuto... then when Byakuya destroyed those powers Urahara came in and instead of actually giving him shinigami powers (which technically could not be done because ichigo was a human not a "spirit") he actually awakened his hollow powers instead but he trusted that the things inside him and his previous knowledge and feeling of how to be a shinigami would keep the hollow at bay just how it had for the vizards... THEN ichigo managed to subdue the hollow and shape it into the "fake" zangetsu bypassing the need of an azauchi to create his actual zanpakuto using his actual zangetsu... as "fake zangetsu" kept limiting ichigo's powers the power seeping out of his "seal" kept feeding both ichigo and "white" and they kept working together until they got to this point...
Now zangetsu stopped sealing his power and ichigo got an actual azauchi into which he poured his hollow powers... then he finally poured his own power into that Hollow azauchi to create the new zangetsu... He is finally a full shinigami and all his hollow powers were also poured into the zanpakuto... which gave birth to sibling blades representing the duality of his power yet not that each blade is a different power...

Most vizards are good on a sprint a short 3min long spike of power... Mashiro is good for a marathon... she is not as strong as some others but she can keep that power going for VERY long, over 15hr...
The Asauchi gang was fine fighting Renji for 3 days in the Hooden. One look at Ichigo and they were like nah, we dont mess with soul reaper, hollow, quincy hybrids.

FROM MY MEMORIES from 10 years ago... this arc in the manga kept getting worse little by little not in terms of content itself... but it felt a lot like besides ichigo at this point nothing else really mattered... no matter what other people did or how stuffed happened... there were absolutely no stakes other than what will ichigo do?... a lot of the things happening around that thread felt like they were just padding... the characters introduced after ichigo getting his powers back... let's just say there was no way to get to know them or care for them... a couple of them felt like Kubo just ran out of ideas or he was just in a weird place... expectations of other characters just disappointing.. THAT is what made the pacing of this arc feel really really awful week to week...
BUT thanks to the power of both money and actually having the full manga out in advanced... what we have gotten so far feels and looks actually way better than the manga so far... excellent animation, really good music, voice acting and effects... the perfect ambience for every scene... hype over the nostalgia... AND the anime is actually filling in a couple of spots here and there that came out of nowhere in the manga... I a pretty sure that 95% of the issues with the next part of the manga will be fixed just like that... the missing 5% is for sure that character that i am pretty sure most people hated as much as me but who can say... by the time this manga arc came around when i had just come out of college... none of the remaining friends i had were actually reading bleach anymore and the ones who probably did were gone so no idea what they thought about it...
Have to say... As of right now the anime is better by the manga... And for the remainder of the manga... The bar is not that high to beat so the anime will make it WAY better...
