    It would be good to start the video showing how the finished tool is to be used so that the viewer can decide if it's worth it to watch the rest of the video.

    Leave a bit more metal on the screw driver tip to make a stubby screwdriver and a bushing tool.

    I don't know how a 9 year old video came up, but destroying a screwdriver rather than using a piece of square stock was like the DUHHH moment.

      @@SouthpawAutoworks that’s ok ; just a simple explanation would be enough; which edge do you use etc

    • @SouthpawAutoworks
      @SouthpawAutoworks  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Right on! Great question!
      I almost always use the lower edge (as opposed to the higher edge). Just for clarification, if you look at the video thumbnail, I'm holding the tool in my hand. Use the edge that's closest to my hand (index finger).
      Pro Tips:
      Tip #1:
      Push the tool firmly against the bushing, and start hammering.
      It helps to keep the tool at a slight angle (instead of straight up/down). It'll help the tool get a good "bite" on the bushing...yet, the tool should not mare/damage the transmission part that the bushing "lives" inside of.
      Tip #2:
      Use a dial caliper to measure the depth of the bushing before removing the old bushing. This way you know how far/deep to install the new bushing. Bushing depth isn't always super important...but there are instances where it can make the difference between a problem, and a successful rebuild.
      Tip #3:
      If you look at a brand new bushing, you'll see that one end, of the outer circumference, is clasped together. If you're trying to remove a bushing from a blind hole, place the tool just to the left/right of the bushing clasp. When you start hammering on it, it'll spilt that side of the bushing apart, making it possible to remove the bushing with this tool.
      Note: The alternative is purchasing/using a slide hammer tool setup to remove bushings from blind holes.
      Hope this made sense. It'll make a lot more sense in a video explanation....when I can get around to filming/editing this future video.
      Once again, great question.
      Thanks for being here...
