I hope that you will discuss the recurrent camshaft failures in the LC8c inside of the 790's and 890's and how buying this bike is probably not a very good idea because it has the same engine.
@@getwrx-d2423 Might want to Google it. There are a few working theories about why this is occurring but tons of owners have premature wear on the camshafts. Unclear if it's a oil pressure, oil passageways clogging, or, what seems to be the prevailing theory... Soft camshafts. Don't buy one.
I'm so tired of all these non KTM owners who brings this up all the time. This is not a common problem. And those who experienced problems were covered by KTM. Buy the bike of your dreams and stop reading those comments from keyboard warriors. 🙂
Its not a case of upgrade its a case of is it interesting enough to swop your current marque, if you’re already riding 790 then no probably not worth upgrading, but if you’re riding an MT 09 then maybe a 990 might have made you think about trade in. I think with the 790 it’s just not tempting enough to bring in virgin customers…
This is my question. I want to see a Vitpilen 801, they haven’t even hinted at one yet. I worry they’re going to wait to see the Svart’s sales figures first. Hopefully by next year we’ll have one though.
I'm probably gonna buy this bike I hope I don't have any Big problem's if so that's why we have insurance..also I think it looks Great different than what's out there...401 for My girl and 801 for me that would look Great ... thanks for the video you did a great review one of the best I've seen.....
Likewise! But I noticed 2 screws under the left side of the seat: maybe, as happened to the previuos models, we could arrange a bag on the left side but I wonder if it could be possibile to have one to the right...
So, is a normal naked with a little bit of tecnology. Well, that is all that we ask to husqvarna after the 401. Is a shame that will cost a lot, maybe i'll buy the Ducatti scrambler instead.
Buyer Beware. I have owned a new Svartpilen 401 for almost two years now. I have spend the past six months waiting for a replacement for a defective radiator fan. My efforts to reach out to KTM, including corporate, did not help. Not even a response, explanation, apology, or effort to expedite the part. I have waited previously for a month for an oil filter to become available. I'm going on 10 months to a year waiting for other less critical parts. I was eagerly wanting to place an order for the new 801. Now I'll be afraid to take the bike more than 30 minutes from home when and if it's finally repaired. When I did research on the 401 none of the reviewers mentioned the reliability and parts availability problems. I wish I had been warned. I think this is a systemic problem at KTM that they have somehow kept relatively quiet and instead flooded social media with positive videos about new bikes.
I bought a Kawasaki Dominar 400 , same motor as the Svartpilen 401, and the KTM 390 Duke , runs as it should ; this motor is built in India , I believe by Baja . Parts are easily found, forget about manufacturer support. I’m inspired to buy similar power plant in my home Country. An American Expat.
This bike needs spoked wheels so bad
The Duke 890R would have been a more interesting platform instead of the budget engine, brakes etc.
I think that's replaced with the new 990

Can you elaborate on this issue? Haven’t heard about this and i was debating getting this bike. Thanks for posting for awareness.

I'd love to know more about this. Specifically why they'd use this engine on a new bike if this is a known issue.
@@FunWithAJ Google it. It's everywhere. Likely soft camshafts. KTM refuses to acknowledge the problem, but it's clearly widespread.

I think its a great looking bike. Very futuristic but raw at the same time. Id get one if i have the room
This was surprisingly excellent video! Dynamic, vivid and yet so elaborate presentation, coming from non native English speaker. Bravo!

@@johnDukemasterwhat Problem are you talking about?
@@Kodreanu23 I'm talking about people who don't own a KTM, messing about problems with them. That's the biggest problem! Not the bike itself.
@@johnDukemaster why bringing it up on my comment?
@@Kodreanu23 I see what you mean. It wasn't on your comment. I have no idea why our two comments were connected.
High amount of info/minute. It is however not made in China as you said. Made in Austria, motor block made in China.
If they could have shoe horned in the 990 new Duke engine I would have put my money where my mouth is, or even the 890, but the 790 sorry nope….🤷🏼
have you ridden them back to back to compare? i have the 790 adventure r with akro exhaust, have ridden 890 and didn't see a reason to upgrade.

Getting parts and servicing is more important. Top bikes but I'll stick to Honda after reading up on the issues
Is there still a big Vitpilen planned?

A vitpilen 901 seems to be on the way. Look it up 😉

Excellent, detailed review, thanks!
Thanks for the review. Wish this came with the 890/990 engine. FYI 701 tank is 11.2L revised down from 12L. Not 9L as stated.
needs color and better tires
Bike is also made for travelling .I am worry how to attach luggage.

Very thorough and well informed review. Would be good if it had a grab rail at the back (like the 401 version)
I liked the vit 701 design better. Even the 701 svårt was better
I wanna see this one vs the KTM and de CF Moto. Thank you! What a great video.
Riding, bike. Not Driving, vehicle. 😊
Xsr900 is the only competition that comes to mind for me
Nice bike, but too many electronics for me. I'm old school.🧓
overpriced for a chinese bike...
looks good, bit of a fan of bar braces myself. Made in China a big turn off
It’s not made in China. The motor block is made in China. The bike is made in Austria
