To those of you who are comparing my rate of growth with yours, you are forgetting one thing and that is HEIGHT! We are not all the same height and the distance between my shoulders and waist for instance is going to be different than yours. So don't get hung up on how "slow" you are growing compared to me - it's probably just because you are taller! Humans generally grow about a half inch of hair per month, and the variation from person to person isn't very big. In any case, try to enjoy the journey and appreciate your own lovely tresses at whatever length you have! 😊

A big hint for your hair is to not shower everyday, Don't wear elastic hairbands, don't brush it when it is wet, and do not use heat to it or it will kill your hair... Also start from the bottom of your hair and work your way up. My hair right now is at the back of my knees. I hope these tips are helpful for you, ❤

swedish girl I'm with ya. My hair grows slow too. Try washing your hair in cold water with sulfate-free shampoo/conditioner. Use oil masks before washes. Stay away from hair dryers, straighteners, curling irons, etc. And take hair vitamins. These tried and true methods are working for me :)

swedish girl use mustard oil for hair once or twice a week overnight before washing. it really helps in growing hair faster, stronger and shinier. all Indian girls use this and it works. I am also using this and my hair grows around 6 inches in 6-7 months. and yes braiding hair also works bcoz it reduces hair breakage and hencevhair grows quickly.

What really annoys me is when my 18 year old daughter goes out with us (her bright red hair is waste length) she has complete strangers going up to her saying how wonderful it is but would she not think of donating it! like it's some kind of sin to have long hair and enjoy it. other talk about the dangers and talk about story's of people getting their hair trapped or people stealing it in the street in various places. I'm starting to think they're just jealous!

It's a constant and annoying battle! I have hair down to my butt and I wear it in a braid frequently. I love wearing it down, but then people play with it, touch it, and tell me to donate it. I wear it up, and people tell me I should cut it because I'm not "appreciating it". I've donated almost 3 feet to Angel Hair for Kids over two donations (12 and 8 years ago). While I plan on doing it again, I want to just enjoy long hair for a while!

I began growing out my hair about 5 years ago too, except I began at a pixie and now it's down to waist length. That was also when I decided to stop coloring and go natural with my gray hair. So now it's almost entirely salt & pepper overall with a thick strand of silver at the front which looks almost like a highlight :)

I swear guys this will grow your hair use coconut oil or any organic oil you have even if it's cooking oil, the most important thing is massage your scalp!! just masage it every single day , at least for month and see the results my cousin her hair was same length for a 10 years, she massage it for a month every day for 20 mints and it grows out like crazy, her hair now is almost in her knees you hair needs blood to circulation to grow its really more important than the oil you use

    • @aliaali7992

actually using oil is not important the most important part is the massage, give your root a really good massage, for me i can't wash my hair everyday so i use hair tonic for my roots and massage it that doesn't need a wash i would recommend kaminomoto tonic it's a miracle .Good luck !!

Videos like this saddens me so much, I ALWAYS wanted long hair. My hair was so beautiful and shiny as a teen and just below my bust. Then I took Accutane at 24 and lost about 50% of my hair and what's growing out now 4 years later is dry and brittle and lacks shine. It's just so depressing. Now Im just gonna let it grow regardless but I am pretty sure it will look frail, thin and frazzled, and dry, when it gets longer. I can't imagine the how women with cancer and alopecia feels.

Your hair is absolutely gorgeous! I’m just starting my journey to grow out my hair after years and years of having really short hair to dying my hair with box dye every month for 2 years straight and straightening it everyday, getting it permed and putting bleach on it and reaching a point where I realize that if I keep doing that I’ll eventually go bald. Thank you so much for this video, again, I will do as you did with some extra homemade hair masks that I used to do that kept my hair from completely failing on me when I box dyed it. Thank you thank you! You’re giving me hope. I really really miss my long hair and I am absolutely done with short damaged hair. You’re an angel!

I have curly hair the length of this girl's hair as well, and I've gone and asked them to cut the spit ends. They actually brushed my hair dry and I could see where the hair wasn't healthy and needed to be cut. They probably cut more than you expected because the split/dead ends went up higher.

Well that's sad. Go to another hair dresser or complain about how he is cutting too much. I never experienced that before since my parents have been cutting my hair all my life. But maybe you can ask your family or friends to trim it for you? They should be close to you and know what a trim is.

IWS BALI well once in a while you should cut off the split ends, but you don't have to do it often. I think if you take good care of the ends, you can avoid split ends but once a year you should cut them a tiny bit so that they're even, I think.

Wow! I never knew there was a long hair community!
I started growing my hair when I quit smoking six years ago.
I too went through a hack job trim that took over 6-8 inches of length.
    I am now tailbone length.
    Your hair is gorgeous!!

I stated 25th September (just past shoulder length - been like that for a year) in about 3 days I grew an inch or at least ¾ of an inch. I started on the 25th September and on the 28th it was longer. All I've been doing is massaging my head 5 minutes per day and leaving my hair in either plaits or French braids which prevents frizz also since my hair is straight and flat, using French braids made it look thicker and finally had volume. (:

Something I noticed about my own hair was how much more quickly it grew in the three years I was living in a dorm than at any time before in my life. I attributed this to something in the water because my acne also got worse in these three years, but I wonder if it's just because the showers in the dorms kinda suck? The water's never hot, I can't take baths, so my showers are like 7 mins tops.
I cut 13 inches to donate after my first year of college, with my hair being shoulderlength after. The next year my hair grew 10 inches, and then I cut it to shoulderlength again, bleached the last 6 inches, dyed it purple and then cut 5 inches(most of the bleached part). It's a little past shoulderlength again and I'm getting ready to start growing it out to donate a few years down the line again.
I think, with the information I've gotten on how to take better care of it, I can donate again in three years instead of five. Like I've done twice before. Or maybe I'll wait the five years and donate more than 13 inches next time.
Your hair is very pretty and healthy! You've taken wonderful care of it.

I’m 9 months into my hair journey, at the start I had my hair bleached from my scalp to the ends which were about 3-4 inches below my shoulders. So in order to have my hair grow out healthy and not be breaking of every second because the bleach ruined my hair. I chopped off my hair up to about 2 inches below my ear, I kept cutting it that short until my natural hair grew out all the way, Anyway now my hair is at my shoulders, and I’m looking forward to growing it much much longer. Now that all the bleach is out I feel confident that my hair is not as damaged and it a lot healthier.! Also I forgot to mention I am 6 foot so my hair grow looks a lot less compared to most other women haha!

Your comment is about 2 years old but i saw it today .I just discovered this channel today. While scrolling comment section i read your comment so i decided to help you even if its too late may be it will help you .To aviod hair breakage when oiling you're hair You should never comb your hair immediately after applying oil. You see, hair is more fragile after oiling and your scalp is a lot more relaxed. Combing your hair roughly can cause hair breakage and loss. Just massage your scalp and when you apply oil on strands just leave it don't comb it right after oiling. Comb your strands after some time .start from the tips and gently make your way to the top. That way, your locks would be free from knots and the oil would spread to your strands and scalp evenly.
I also had the same problem that you have and the above tip helped me .I hope it will help you too.

And its because oils promotes new hair growth (new hairs) to come in. Also, We have a hair cycle. And every year during a certain season (everyone is different, mine is in the fall/winter) our hair falls and we grow in new hair. Thats why some of your hair is different lengths always after u cut it and it starts growing out again. My bottom half grows more than the top.

I am two years late but hope this helps. Coconut oil is rich in protein and will help if you have a protein deficiency but if you have too much protein in your hair (this sounds kind of weird),your hair is going to be thin and brittle. Try avacado oil instead and drink less than 8 ounces of spy milk or take a break from it. Drink oat milk instead. Your hair also has a pH level and the normal hair is slightly acidic and the level is 4 or 5 but your hair may be more alkaline so use apple cider vinegar to wash your hair or Rinse it. Once your hair is healthier, try a Brazilian keritan straightening treatment if you want straight hair and your hair is frizzy.

I am a boy and I for some odd reason have been addicted to having long hair. Three years ago I had a buzz cut now I have hair up to my tailbone. I am very proud of it and hope never to cut it again.

Im currently at year one of growing my hair. I cur it collar bone length about a year ago and I also bleached it. I really shouldn't have done that. My hair got so many split ends and would break off when I brush it. So yeah I decided I'm never going to dye my hair again.
So its been a year and my natural brown hair has grown in a lot and I'm so happy about it. My hair is now down to my upper back.
The problem is that I still have so many split ends because of the past bleaching. I want to cut it all of but that would leave me with a bob.

This is so motivating and your hair grew so well! My hair is very thick and gets dry easily nowadays at the ends. I rarely use heat products unless for a special occasion, and hope it can grow as long as yours one day.

i dont really have "journeys" like that .. my hair grows quite fast so basically what she had at the end of year two is the lenght of my hair after getting a haircut and letting it grow out for 4 months or such (i usually cut my hair to shoulder length and yes i cut it on my own) but for once i wanna let it grow out (will cut it around this time next year prob) xD your journey is so cool :33 lets see how mine will be~

I just got a VERY bad haircut where I said I wanted a dusting and the hairstylist razored of my hair into these weird layers and it was definitely not what I wanted even though I was clear, and detailed in explaining what I wanted. I am now back at square one after trying to grow my hair out for 2 years. I'm trying not to get upset about it because it is just hair and it'll grow back, but I can't help but still being very pissed that my hair is not only shorter, but ruined with weird layers that I never wanted. Hopefully my hair grows out. You inspire me to believe that it can get better! :) Thank you for posting.

    I had classic length hair.
I went to a salon a week ago to get a little trim, and she cut way too much hair and now it's a little above my bellybutton.
My hairgoal is upto the tailbone.
This is really inspiring.I hope I can get my hair back in a year or so.

@@lisaluckman I mix red oignon, red garlic with menthol hydrolat and ortie hydrolat in a blender. When it is all mixed, I add to it essential oils (menthol, ginger, lavander, lemon, bay st thomas, girofle) and also vegetal oils (mustard, fenugrec, castor). I put all of this on my head by massaging hardly with my nails. It hurts, it is normal. I do it once a week for more than 6 hours. Ur hair will grow sooo fast and become pretty thicker. The volume is insane and the results unreal. I'm in my second month now and i can"t stop doing it i'm addicted

    Hi Britt!
Wow... this is so inspiring! Congratulations! Your hair is so perfect!
My mom made me go to the hair salon a month ago insisting my hair was ugly and damaged and they just chopped it off! I'm so depressed right now... I absolutely love long hair, you know that... and now mine is so short! Above shoulder length... =\ I hope it grows out fast... you are my inspiration! This hair video came just on time!
    Happy Hairgrowth b-day! hahaha

My hair isn't really growing all that well in my opinion (although it's still pretty long) so I'm about to chop it to a bit shorter than shoulder length and dye it for the first time ever. I'm planning on growing out the bleached parts and cutting them off as they grow, and it'll basically be a fresh start for my hair, because right now the first 5 inches or so are the only parts that aren't damaged.

Just yesterday, my hair had to be trimmed to even out the length, and my mom did it. My hair used to be as long as yours, but she cut off way too much. Now it's up to (give or take) my belly button, and I was (still am) absolutely devastated.
