D.I.Y. - How to Install LED Dash Upgrade | Jeep Wrangler TJ

  • I show you how to upgrade your current lighting in your vehicle dash cluster. Specifically in this video I show you on a 1998 Jeep Wrangler TJ. For the Jeep you only need one tool, a Philips screw driver. You may want to use a pair of pliers too, as the light sockets are recessed in the housing. I replace the main gauges with Jtech T5 green LEDs. As for the rest of the lights, I use Jtech T5 white LEDs. I show how to actually install the LEDs with the correct polarity, as LEDs operate differently than normal halogen bulbs. This video has every step you need to know in order to upgrade you dash with LEDs.
    I also want to thank all of my viewers from my previous LED Dash videos. I hope this video is to your liking and is better than my last, so let me know what you think in the comments.

      Thank you! I am really glad you enjoyed the install. I really do love how the LEDs look. I've also got a 94 ZJ, but never did the dash in that. I did do an LED light bar install video though.

    • @roaddawg538
      @roaddawg538 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The ZJ install is pretty easy, now i just have to do the headlight switch and HVAC control, also did my plate lights. WJ is even quicker. let me know how well the Jtech bulbs hold up, i got me a set, might just go back to green, im undecided.

    You never showed how the dimmer switch affected the dash lights. I suspect they will dim a little but not in the range that they should. I will wire mine differently and add a 50k trim pot. Then adjust the led brightness to resemble original brightness. When you adjust the dimmer all the way down the lights will basically shut off so there is a reference point. I will also add a resistor to the trim pot for safety because when you adjust your trim pot and accidentally turn it to zero ohms, the led's will blow, but thats if your using standard led's and not the type that you used.

    • @SwordInc
      @SwordInc  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes. With these T5 bulbs, they don’t dim. At least with the stock dimmer

  • @StevePittinger
    @StevePittinger 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I think he should have tested the turn signal lights a few more times because that wasn't annoying enough the 3rd and 4th times. He should probably get his airbag serviced too as that light shouldn't be on beyond the ignition on test phase. That's like driving around with the check engine light on. I'm not a fan of replacing white lights with colors either. While it might look neat, it defeats the redlines on the gauges as this video demonstrates.

    • @SwordInc
