    Although I have a different type car, I suppose the principle is the same. Thank you for taking the time to post and share how to do this project. I want to put blue LEDs in my dash cluster lights. I don't think they have ever been changed, and some are going out, so it is a good time to replace bulbs. Thanks again.

    LED also has color temperature with narrow range. This means that the gauge needles may not conduct/reflect the LED light if the color temp. range is off. Users might try different kinds of LED bulbs to find the best effect for yourself.

    I ordered exactly what you used. I’ve done LED conversion externally & internally on a couple of my cars/trucks, but never on the instrument panel. However, the T5 (small bulbs) must be getting a minute amount of residual voltage because when I start the car, several of them are staying dimly lit on my ‘97 Mustang GT. 🤷🏻‍♂️😞

    Does the cluster have a color filter for the indicator lights? I noticed the seatbelt light looks kind of purple, which might be from the blue LED you used going through a red film in the clusters.
    I'm thinking of just getting white LEDs for them and keep whatever color the cluster has for them

There appears to be two different types of bulbs apart from the colours eg: main instrument lights & smaller warning lights, high beam, turn indicators etc, etc!! I have an 01 Mustang GT, I am aware that the bulb size is T5, but my question is can I just plug and play the bulbs without any problems? Because I see a lot of people talking about “you have to sand out the green film” and others that say “you don’t have to sand out anything”. Any advice?

    • @SwordInc
      @SwordInc  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends, do you like the color of the gauges to begin with? If yes, go with a white LED. If No, scrape the film off and get the color LED you want.

      Cristian Ramos nope for my gauge cluster I used T5s for the whole thing and I would recommend using blue as because of the green filter on the gauge face red does not show at night at all but blue is very visible. use T10 only for the HVAC unit

      @SwordInc  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't have a CD changer in my Cobra and the radio that was in it was all wired wrong. I have no idea who installed it, but there were wires everywhere and all cut up too. Wires spliced together that should not have been. A huge mess.

    • @MexLopezMoDz1337
      @MexLopezMoDz1337 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Darian Bogart if you're changing to an aftermarket radio you can just get a 99-04 aftermarket radio plug and play connection and from them splice and clamp your wires together it isnt hard i didn't bought no plug and play i just clamp wire to wire, most of it its color coded
      You can search online the radio wiring diagram and from there just splice to your aftermarket radio

    • @stevecobratei8538
      @stevecobratei8538 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Darian Bogart,
      The easy estate way to change the radio is to get a package of scotch locks so you don't need to cut any wires at the radio. For the speakers, most likely you will add an amp so use the speaker output wires from the new radio and run new wires (14 - 16 gauge) to your speakers. Remove the wire connector from the speakers that go to your old radio and leave them right where they are and connect your new speaker wires using spade connectors.
      Job done and none of the original wires are cut or messed up so later if you decide to reconnect the stock speakers and radio you can do so very easily all you would need to do is remove the scotch locks from the power lines connecting to the original radio power and ground which you use to power the new radio .
      P.S. DO NOT CUT the original radios shielded speaker wires. They are not needed and a lot easier to run new speaker wires from your new radio.

    If you wanna test all bulbs, hold the button that resets the miles while the car is completely off then while you hold it down, turn the key to the on position (not the start position) then wait until it says "test" on the odometer. Once that has happened, let go of the button and you will now be able to switch it to different modes, keep pressing the reset button until you get to the mode that says "bulb test." It should be the 2nd one, can't remember so don't go too fast and skip it by accident.
