    Although I have a different type car, I suppose the principle is the same. Thank you for taking the time to post and share how to do this project. I want to put blue LEDs in my dash cluster lights. I don't think they have ever been changed, and some are going out, so it is a good time to replace bulbs. Thanks again.

    LED also has color temperature with narrow range. This means that the gauge needles may not conduct/reflect the LED light if the color temp. range is off. Users might try different kinds of LED bulbs to find the best effect for yourself.

    I ordered exactly what you used. I’ve done LED conversion externally & internally on a couple of my cars/trucks, but never on the instrument panel. However, the T5 (small bulbs) must be getting a minute amount of residual voltage because when I start the car, several of them are staying dimly lit on my ‘97 Mustang GT. 🤷🏻‍♂️😞

    @JonYugen 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    If you wanna test all bulbs, hold the button that resets the miles while the car is completely off then while you hold it down, turn the key to the on position (not the start position) then wait until it says "test" on the odometer. Once that has happened, let go of the button and you will now be able to switch it to different modes, keep pressing the reset button until you get to the mode that says "bulb test." It should be the 2nd one, can't remember so don't go too fast and skip it by accident.

    Does the cluster have a color filter for the indicator lights? I noticed the seatbelt light looks kind of purple, which might be from the blue LED you used going through a red film in the clusters.
    I'm thinking of just getting white LEDs for them and keep whatever color the cluster has for them

    • @SwordInc
      @SwordInc  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      White LEDs will work great if you want to keep the factory color. You could also scrape off the film, if you want to use a different color

  • @brendonrutherford5118

    Correct me if I have not been listening properly but I don't recall you stating the model numbers of these replacement bulbs. There appears to be two different types of bulbs apart from the colours eg: main instrument lights & smaller warning lights, high beam, turn indicators etc, etc!! NO use me even thinking about changing these unless I know what LED bulbs to buy in the first instance!! Sadly this video has not helped me very much!!

    • @SwordInc
      @SwordInc  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t, but you can scrape off the colored filament and it will shine through the color of the LED. You can also use a transparent but opaque paint to diffuse the LED light. At this time, I’m not sure what kind of paint to use. I may look into doing that though

      I am using LEDs but they are most likely a different size than your car's. Mine is a 98 Ford where yours is a Chrysler. I'd call Chrysler back and find out what type of light bulb your dash uses, then either tell me what size it is and I could try to find what you need it you could google that size of LED.

    Great Video. Chipset led's are way better and don't melt with time. Those have metal pins, which are garbage. They melt and then the lights start turning off and on with time. Those LED's are cheapo's. i am sure that manufacture makes the chipset ones that don't have those wires. I would do your homework before buying cheap LED's, just FYI.

    I have an 01 Mustang GT, I am aware that the bulb size is T5, but my question is can I just plug and play the bulbs without any problems? Because I see a lot of people talking about “you have to sand out the green film” and others that say “you don’t have to sand out anything”. Any advice?

    • @SwordInc

      It depends, do you like the color of the gauges to begin with? If yes, go with a white LED. If No, scrape the film off and get the color LED you want.

    • @SwordInc
