    I have had a few comments and messages regarding wifi issues on the CB1. I checked with the CB1 I received and installed on the M8P and didnt have any issues. The second one I ordered from Aliexpress I installed in the Pi 4B Adapter and have tried the latest image (2 days ago) and previous but wifi either works briefly or doesn't work at all. I gave feedback to BTT on this and have been told it is not hardware but the image that is causing the issue. I am really hoping they are able to get this hammered out sooner than later. When I do get the wifi on the CB1 reliably working I will make a setup guide. Pi 4b and Manta boards with CM4 are not affected by this as it is related to the CB1 image file.

    • @ModBotArmy
      @ModBotArmy  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@BackwoodsTinkerer I have not heard of any Ethernet issues. Just don’t use the latest since it intentionally breaks Ethernet. The latest has been stable on one of the two cb1 units over wifi for 2 days now so it’s definitely corrected the issue for some units. But yeah I hadn’t heard any issues from those that are wired.

    • @luisderivas6005
      @luisderivas6005 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This WIFI isn't an issue limited to the CB1. It uses the H616 SOC, just like the Orange PI Zero 2's I have worked with, and can confirm the issue lies with the Armbian/Debian builds. Old versions had no driver support 2 years ago, versions circa Feb of this year work OK. Recent versions of Armbian Bulleye have failed to boot at all!! I have had reasonably better luck with Debian, rather than Armbian builds.
      Ethernet on the other hand is just plain solid all the way around.

      Generally corexy builds with only two Z steppers run them synchronously, which is why you'll often find dual Z stepper headers on BTT boards running from just one driver. Looking at the pinout for the M4P this is indeed the case. Aka, the M4P can run five steppers, two of those being synchronized z-axis steppers.

      I was sort of hoping that the EZ drivers would become the new standard of drivers for all boards going forward. They do need to spend more time on their documentation though, especially for their CANBUS products which will be my next adventure on my IDEX to reduce the number wires. I suspect we will see more canbus products for 3d print boards since they can be daisy chained. Same thing car manufactuers did so one ecu can monitor and control numerous modules.

    hey you should try to setup a printer to use the cb1, its a mess. and the instructs are super incomplete, they say all this stuff works but the os is like a vm or something, and like half the things are mising. A guide will be like run this command, and that directory will either be empty or the tool will not be there.

    Honestly, the Pi shortage is almost a blessing in disguese. You can buy second hand Barebone or Industrial computers for less than the PI 4B 8gb at this point. While the Pi's have a place, it's always been love-hate for development. With the chip shortage its hate-hate, so their place is history books as far as i'm concerned. x86 systems are easier to debug, support more compatibility and are basically better in every way except power consumption and size. I'm not going back to these janky devices, i have wasted so much time debugging problems that wouldn't exist on a x86 with full Linux OS.
