I'm so glad the Mazda K-series was mentioned. I had an MX6 as my first car with the 2.5 KL-DE and I loved that car. Such a great sounding engine and quite a light car for its size. Handled great and was reasonably quick. I need another one at some point.
Might be a faulty sensor. I think the vtec wont engage if the oil pressure is too low and the engine will hit a « safety rev limiter » beacause the engine might break. Afterall, the vtec solenoid works with oil pressure.
Ok I did a little research and it's actually really common issue it's caused by the engine vibrations that eventually lead to the sensor's failure they have kits you can buy to fix this problem
I have to admit that even though I'm a born and bred American Muscle guy...there is something about the NSX that I can't escape. It's definitely on my list of cars to own eventually.

I know it's technically not a V6, but I've always thought Porche's 4.0L flat six was the sexiest sounding NA six cylinder out there. I get that Forced Induction can get you more power, but nothing beats the pure sound of an NA Engine.

Then look up the Veyrons engine where they use a similar technique for its cylinder arrangement and they call it a W16. That's right 16 cylinders! No way to fit that under a hood without some clever cylinder spacing.

The lotus V6 comes from Toyota. It doesn't come from the hybrids though. It comes from the engine production line of the 2GR-fe usually for Lexus or the SUV's with towing package cause Toyota adds better oil cooling on those
Dont forget the mistubishi fto, sounds like the mx3 or the nsx at 8000rpm. Tiny v6 that rev to the moon are cool, even if they are not as powerful as a j35 or a vq37.

The VR6 2.8, 2.9, and 3.2 were 15 degree engines. The later 3.6 was a 10.8 degree V engine. If you listen carefully, you can kind of hear the different V angles in this video. The 90 degree NSX engine sounds subtly different from the Alfa and Nissan 60 degree units, and both angles sound quite different from the VR6. One thing about that VR6 is that its firing order is completely different from other V6 engines in that it fires one entire bank of cylinders and then the entire other bank, as opposed to traditional V6's which bounce from bank to bank.
The Evora is the best package hands down imho; makes going back to a normal car with the engine in the front equivalent to going from a manual to back an automatic lol

Don't forget comfortable and practical too! Remodelled in Ford Probe guise (as I drove it), definitely a completely underrated package.
I had a 94 626 with the KL-DE and a 5 speed for a short time. Paid $100 for at auction and it would pull past the 8k rpm on the dash 😂

My 27yo w124 has 3+bars instant,from idle to rev limit.

Im a v8 guy ,but that Lotus sounded the sickest...real racing performance tone. With 400 + horses and 440 ft lbs I would love it in my garage
