I really like how he is not speaking as if it is normal to know each movie that he worked on and still explains. That shows to me that he is still on the ground. Such a nice and friendly guy.
I'm surprised the 4.6 and 5.0 Mustang was not included, I always loved the way those sounded with that deep, echoing rumble. A Ford Flathead V8 speaking though some steelpacks is a great sound as well. But my favorite V8 sound- probably the 427 Chevy big block. The sound that engine makes gives me goosebumps.

The Ferrari recording was so perfectly recorded and laid out that's why it sounded orgasmic. It had a great build up and release, the pacing was perfect.

My list would have been a LOT different outside of the Ferrari but this was a cool idea and a fun video to watch It's a shame there wasn't much consistency in the quality of recordings across different models
In school, I knew a guy who could tell you without seeing what car was going to come round the corner by the sound of the engine. He went on to be a rally engineer.
Mark was super entertaining! You don't have to know every last fact about cars to have a passion for them. You guys need to make this a series! Bring him back for V10, V12, V6, I6, I4, H6, and anything else!

As far as my personal favorite v8, it's gotta go to Audi's 4.2l V8. My first major car purchase once I started making some money was a 2009 Audi S5 MTM. Absolutely loved that car from the day I got it and still have it to this day.
I did a film decades ago called " Raiders of the Lost Ark" .... Legendary how subtle he was about it. One of the greatest adventure movies of all time!
As an audiophile myself, I detect hints of Joe Pesci overall, but especially Scotty Kilmer in Mark's upper rev range, with a tad less growl/ rasp and sub 500 Hz. It truly is exciting! :)

I would definitely say that he knows a ton about sound mechanics, but I don't think he know too much about cars however. In my opinion, the f-type and gt350 should have been much higher.
@@isaaczman Why? The gt350 doesn't have much going for it. It just sounds muffled and restrained and lifeless, there's no character to it. [Maybe thats because of bad recording quality] I like the f type's sound a bit better, but its like it's trying too hard to be cool. The Ferrari had emotion to it, like it wanted to bite you. The 440 was the best IMO. The old v8s leave a great impression on your ears when they drive away from you

I went to college for sound design. Audio Engineers are their own special breed, and this guy is peak example. Kinda wish I stayed in the field but was unable to make a living off it.

This is just how professionals speak, they don't want to sound pompous or like they are gloating about their achievements. It's more embarrassing to themselves if they assume the other person knows the movie/show/soundtrack etc, and ultimately they are not familiar with it.
I love cars with big engines, but can appreciate a well enginered ev.. imo everything under 6cyl can just go electric right away, not a big loss.. but lets keep v8,10 and 12 for a bit longer
As a diehard GM fan, that engine has some of the most intoxitacting exaust notes in American made cars, period. It's below the Huyra BC and C8 to me still, but amazing nonetheless.
I think one huge point for me with V8 sound is that, in Finland it is so rare to hear v8 that every time you hear it out in the wild it always creates so much more emotion, than hearing many of them in a row. That said, I still think this one is one of my favorite videos from Donut ever

I actually agreed with his ranking and opinions about each sound, especially the Lexus and Dodge 440. I'm disappointed you didn't include the F355, because that is THE most beautiful sounding Ferrari V8 IMO. Would have also been nice to include the 1UZ, 302 Cleveland, Lotus Esprit, Cosworth DFV and BMW M5 E39. Any chances this guy is invited again?

That audio recording didn't do enough justice to the GT350, I'd say. There are some really well done recordings out there. The in-cabin noise isn't that exciting, sure, but the exhaust noise is just outrageous, the engine revs to 8250rpm. And who in their right minds would forget the Maserati Quattroporte / Alfa Romeo 8C V8, the M139 4.7L (it's basically a cross-plane crank Ferrari Engine, a version of which later went into the 458). That engine is the best sounding V8 Ever made. Hey, and also you've missed the Aston Martin Vantage 4.7L NA V8.

He’s some what of a car guy. He can recognizes the difference in between a high reving motor from a low one, and he he can recognize a supercharger

The GT350 was kneecapped by the recordings. That's one of the best sounding american cars of all time.

I love cars with big engines, but can appreciate a well enginered ev.. imo everything under 6cyl can just go electric right away, not a big loss.. but lets keep v8,10 and 12 for a bit longer

As a diehard GM fan, that engine has some of the most intoxitacting exaust notes in American made cars, period. It's below the Huyra BC and C8 to me still, but amazing nonetheless.

I think one huge point for me with V8 sound is that, in Finland it is so rare to hear v8 that every time you hear it out in the wild it always creates so much more emotion, than hearing many of them in a row. That said, I still think this one is one of my favorite videos from Donut ever

I actually agreed with his ranking and opinions about each sound, especially the Lexus and Dodge 440.
I'm disappointed you didn't include the F355, because that is THE most beautiful sounding Ferrari V8 IMO. Would have also been nice to include the 1UZ, 302 Cleveland, Lotus Esprit, Cosworth DFV and BMW M5 E39.

That audio recording didn't do enough justice to the GT350, I'd say. There are some really well done recordings out there. The in-cabin noise isn't that exciting, sure, but the exhaust noise is just outrageous, the engine revs to 8250rpm.
And who in their right minds would forget the Maserati Quattroporte / Alfa Romeo 8C V8, the M139 4.7L (it's basically a cross-plane crank Ferrari Engine, a version of which later went into the 458). That engine is the best sounding V8 Ever made.
