    I'm a big fan of the NBA and I'm considering building my portfolio by web scraping data from the NBA's website. However, I want to make sure that there are no legal issues with doing so. Thank you for sharing great content as always.

    • @mo-chen
      @mo-chen  ปีที่แล้ว +40

      Hi Igor, there shouldn’t be any legal issues, I doubt NBA will come after you for scraping data off their website 😅 It’s more about how companies don’t like it when you scrape personal data. Just google something along the lines of ‘is web scraping legal?’ and you can easily read about it yourself. Thanks a lot for watching 😃

    • @ss_roldan
      @ss_roldan ปีที่แล้ว +2

      As I've understood after doing a little bit of research about this topic, as long as you are scrapping public available data, you shouldn't face any legal consequences. I believe web scrapping public data is not regulated under CCPA in the US, neither under GDPR in Europe.

    • @panblacksolutions
      @panblacksolutions ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I did a NBA project for 1 of my projects in a data science boot camp. The NBA allows you to download their data. I think to get clean copies you have to pay, but the data sets aren’t so big you couldn’t just copy and paste it

    Can you provide a bit of detail on how you apply your skillset in Data Analytics within the financial field? I just graduated with my Bachelor in Accounting but I also possess a certificate from a different school in Computer Science. I'm hoping to combine both and dive into the Data Analyst field.

    • @mo-chen
      @mo-chen  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This could be a very long answer so I’ll try my best to keep it as short as possible. Say for example, I know exactly what CDSs, bullet loans or balloon payments are, so when it comes to data around these metrics, no one has to explain to me what they mean. Or if the data is completely out of line, I can just tell by looking at the numbers. That’s one super simple example. Hope this helps!

    Great video! I noticed you and many other data youtubers recommend creating a distinct project for each skill. What’s your opinion about creating one comprehensive and large project instead of several small projects? (For example, instead of creating one data cleaning and transformation project and one visualization project - creating one project and using the data I cleaned in order to make the visualization).
    Do you think one approach is better than the other?

    • @mo-chen
      @mo-chen  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Probably easier to tackle smaller projects rather than one big large one. That said, there's absolutely nothing wrong with creating one big project that contains everything.

    Very Insightful video, I lost all hope as my resume was not even shortlisted for one company but now with your video I have new hope. However I have one question, all the projects that you mentioned to go ahead with Python , which cloud platform or website to go with as I like doing everything on the cloud. Thanks again.

    Great videos.
    You define 1 "project" as one part of the entire data analyst process? e.g. 7:13 Data Cleaning the FIFA dataset is considered 1 project, and if I were to carry that data to 8:30 (Data Analysis) and conduct analysis, that would be considered a second project?
    Wouldn't a singular project be defined as carrying data from step 1 (Cleaning) up-to Step 5 (Sharing)?
    Asking for clarification before I start applying for jobs; I have 3 "projects" in github rn, and I want 5-10 projects as you mentioned in another video, as I don't have related work experience.
    Thanks

    My question is what is ultimately the end product of each of these projects? I understand project three can be put into a tableau dashboard, and the fourth one is a wildcard, but I'm not sure what can be produced from projects 1 and 2. Do I present them as walls of code?

    Hi thank you so much for the video. I have a question. I retreived my youtube history search and watch lists. But the format is not excel or csv. It is html and I should open it up in the brower. So how can I use this data since it is not tabular? did I do something wrong for requesting the data ?

    I'm aiming to undertake a project focused on extracting valuable insights from Spain's remote job market. I realize that this is still a rather broad problem and should be narrowed down. As a novice, I would appreciate your advice: Where do you think it would be viable to focus? Could you provide me with some guidance on how to approach the search for available data sources for this case?
    Thank you!

    • @mo-chen
      @mo-chen  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you want really specific data with regards to Spain's job market, I'm afraid you'd have to scrape that yourself. You could focus on top paying companies, fields, industries, etc. Thanks a lot for watching!

    • @mo-chen
      @mo-chen  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You could do project 1 and 2 in SQL as long as you load in the right datasets, but not 4. Thanks for watching 😁

    I have a question. I am thinking to mock a survey via google form and then download in excel so can I do the analysis, etc. My question is how I can get responders to answer the survey. So with no responders, is that possible I be myself the responders. I would send the questionnaire to myself, respond and send back to me just to get the forms responded. When you doing your data analyst role, does it involve researching. I ask this because interviews and job applications ask about the research thing.

    • @mo-chen
      @mo-chen  ปีที่แล้ว

      Good idea! Probably best just to ask your friends and family to fill out the survey for you 😁

    Hello Mo. In the data analysis segment, you suggested using python. When is it advisable to use SQL for analysis?

    • @mo-chen
      @mo-chen  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You could just use SQL for projects 1 and 2 as long as you load the dataset into a database. I'd say use whatever tool that's available and you feel comfortable with. I'm a big believer in fit for purpose coding 😁
