BALANCE AND PROPORTION ARE THE KEY THINGS TO PURSUE !
Almost no one does this anymore, but if you are starting out, you should try it.
Begin your weightlifting journey with two dumbbells.
Work your weaker side to failure while holding a matched weight in your dominant hand.
Then, do the same number of reps on your strong side. (It will be easy for your dominant hand.)
In time, your two sides will balance in strength and the muscles will also begin to look the same size on both sides.
Then and only then can you go to the barbell and use both hands at the same time.
Strength comes first and then hypertrophy.
On the legs, start with reverse lunges (one leg at a time).
This will allow you to detect and fix an imbalance of strength and size in your lower body just like you did in your upper body.
If you go straight to heavy weights on a straight bar, you will get injured as you try to lift more of the weight on your dominant side and struggle with the form and balance of lifts that are both too heavy for your weak side and too light for your strong side.
Asymmetry will twist your back and shoulders into a pretzel. This is a great way to get injured as quickly as possible.
Balance is the key to safe and injury free lifting.
You have a lifetime to grow and improve.
You don't want to rush and get injured.
Invest a year in achieving balance in your strength before you start attempting heavy weights.
Spending a lifetime trapped in a broken body for a mistake you made when you were 17 would be a living hell.
Injuries lead to missed training. That leads to weight gain and new problems. Obesity, joint damage, heart disease...
Go slowly and do it right.

I think you would really like Matt Wennings youtube channel. That's what he talks about all day long, longevity. And how to balance the body. Like for instance he pointed out that almost all people have quads way bigger than their hamstrings. And when the quad is 63% bigger than the hamstring, knee damage takes off exponentially. The ideal ratio is 1 to 1. Or he pointed out that if your biceps are stronger than your rear delts, it will cause shoulder injuries.

I've been bodybuilding back in the 70's and I've always looked up to Frank Zane even then.
Now I'm 64 and last year had a stent placed into one of my heart arteries and they've given me Anti-Cholesterol drugs to take each day.
Now I'm concerned that all the eggs, red meat, etc.. Would be all for nothing.
I want to get back into bodybuilding as I feel much more fit than I did 5 years ago when I was fighting diabetes then took myself of those drugs which helped my loose weight as well as giving up sugar and now to control my blood sugar I drink a glass of Cinnamon tea wth some Stevia for sweetness.
I don't know about these lowering cholesterol drugs if I should take them or not or if I do, by eating more GOOD cholesterol foods will I overcome this problem.
Can you help me in this area?

I am your age as well, and it seems you copied my story. I too worked out, then following an heart attack (2 years ago) i had stents inserted in my arteries and given Statins to take each day( but i'm affected by Familial Hypercholesterolemia, so i have no choice). I too have ceylon Cinnamon in my teas with Stevia sweetner. My advice is to keep taking the statins and follow a diet very low in saturated fats, and very low in refined carbs which will fence off diabetes which i also have.
Salmon, sardines, oily fish, avocados, low fat meat and poltries, walnuts, brasil nuts, seeds, oatmeals, green and cruciferus vegetables, olive oil, Apple Cider Vinegar, Blue berries, natural yougurt, and stay away from sugary and refined carbs but if you occasionally fancy some carbs like bread, rice, pasta or potatos, document yourself about "Resistant Starches" subject and watch videos about it on Utube. It's an eye opener.
      Hope it helps

You can build muscle being vegan, just gotta research a little. You can get tons of protein and minimize your cardiovascular risk from plant sources (even if not fully vegan)

6 TBS of cider vinegar with a glass of hot water. Add tsp or less of honey. Should not be sweet like tradition apple cider drink. Helps keeps blood sugar levels even.

Know that your dietary requirement for cholesterol is zero. The body makes what it needs. Studies show people with high ‘good cholesterol’ died sooner than people with low cholesterol. Eat a huge variety of plants. Plant fats are ok. Inverse correlation between plant fats and longevity. Strong correlation between animal fats and longevity (ie more of equals shorter life)

How to obtain the perfect physique? Get a time machine and go back and pick your parents. Because Zane trained and eight well and did other stuff. It all starts with genetics. You could only go so far with crappy genetics. People don’t realize that if you don’t have the genetics, it doesn’t matter what you do you will only look so good. and the people who disagree with me about genetics or the people that have crappy genetics and they just don’t wanna believe it but it’s true. Did you ever see somebody that is totally shredded and they literally don’t work out. That’s genetics.
