I'm an old beginner bodybuilder from 1977 -1981 and I've always looked up to Frank Zane back then and still do today and I'm now 65 this year 2024. Last few years have been getting back into bodybuilding and the very first workout since 1981 I immediately pumped so with Frank Zane's books and videos along with some more equipment I began getting into it and now I'm beginning to see the results. Mind you, I'm 65 and seeing positive result. It's all about consistency, determination and most of all sacrifice. If someone asked me to choose between going to a concert or staying home and working out, I choose working out all the time. "Eat Healthy, Exercise Correctly & Sleep Well". Rest is one of the most important things. You need to rest the body for it to grow.
It’s true due to newer type drugs etc if you have the right genetics the Zane look is attainable heck some former Olympia universe guys would t even make the cut on stage today , sone of these fit ness guys are very much Zane like
Excellent advice, at 55 I've never went over 5 or 6 sets. Even few if the training is very intense which also changes with age. Too many train the buddy system which might work for one but not the other as routines need to be taylored to each person so you use what works to get results.
Im starting to Read his book.. I started taking building more seriously almost a year ago.. I first read Mike Metzner's book.. but Zane is alive in his 80s.. Im natural and hope to always stay that way.. I really respect everything Mr. Zane has said so far in his book. I was lucky to have my father, who really cranked up the fitness and nutrition in his life when I was in about Jr. High. I see Mr. Zane's physique and for the first time I think I have a goal in mind.
So instead of educating them we take the time out of our day and talk shit about them. 10 sets may work for them. Let’s be open minded and let them learn on their own.
I honestly think it sucks today because people lack of nutritional discipline. The exercise information is out there and I see people performing it. But there’s no change. I can only think it’s what they’re doing behind closed doorsthat’s failing them. Diet, nutrition, sleep, and hydration. Bringing a full jug to the gym doesn’t compensate for lacking the disciple to drink throughout the day.
Steroids have ruined the sport. Back in the days of great role models like Zane, Chuck Sipes, Sergio Oliva, Bill Pearl and many more even if you didn't achieve Mr. America status you were in excellent shape without having to use any additives. You just became a better athlete, a better member of the military or just a better person. I didn't realize that Frank comes from the same coal region area as me. I am from Pottsville, PA until I joined the Navy. My father was also a coal miner and railroad worker.
Larry Scott who won the first 2 Mr Olympia's was taking Dianabol. Every Mr Olympia winner has taken ped's, they can't win it otherwise. Sad fact of today's bodybuilding!
4 foot tall 3 year old 🤔? I believe that about as much as him being natural. Or about as much that his haters don't get to him. He talks about them every video to try to belittle. Own up to things, you'll be more likeable
So todays guy don't have a clue, but literally Zane couldn't win a pro-qualifier show in todays world. Not talking shit thats just a FACT. Another out of touch shit talking geezer.
Frank is a living legend but his physique is easily attainable in todays world. He was 200lbs in his competition days. I see plenty of people in the gym looking like that these days
Yes, Classic physique should be attainable but many end up going into dangerous territory as they are not happy and never being worth it in the long run.
His size is attainable but the aesthetics isn’t. No one in the gyms come close to Zane’s aesthetic that’s an insane statement to say people in the gym look like him 🤦🏽♂️
I trained with Frank about 30 years ago when he lived in Palm Springs. Great Memories. Thanks Frank.

Thanks for the motivation. I want to be motivated like that at your age! I'm in my 30s.

I don’t have the genes, but Frank just gets you motivated to live better than yesterday.
Just cos you don’t have the genes just means you have too work twice as hard.
Frank is TOPS ! Too many today want the quick and easy route. MR. ZANE IS TRULY A LEGEND !

Look Frank Zane is a pro... if you do ten sets than you are being an idiot. Simple. Not wanting to listen is a flaw.

Its all about MASS with EGO LIFTING. No more focusing on art and sculpting the body.
The average guy should set a goal too get a physique like Frank Zane.
