Thanks Frank for everything you did for bodybuilding!!
He wasn’t eating enough. Eating “healthy” has almost nothing to do with building muscle. It’s eating enough calories to allow the body to build the muscles.
@@pleasureduma9693 Agreed. I think eating healthy and healthy eating for bodybuilding and muscle gain are not necessarily the same thing. I see what bodybuilders eat, and how often they eat, and it's a different situation from regular healthy eating. Really? Did you learn what his mantra was in this interview ? Because he kept talking about it on and on but the interviewer never even bothered to ask.
Of all the things Mr.Zane said the thing that I personally found most interesting was ((and he came back to it time and time again)) was how important it was to get actual "fotos" of Your body to be able to know what ACTUALLY look like. And that looking in the mirror will NOT suffice. The reason that I find this interesting is that I've so often experienced "dysmorphia" both negative (people thinking they are to fat or skinny) and ""positive"" people who clearly think their body has "properties" that it doesn't, that I've come to believe that we are all inherently unable to look at ourselves objectively. And that generally speaking our underlying mental state will always "interfere" and influence our perception to such an extent that what we "see"(or more correctly perceive) is more dependent on an "inner image" than what our eyes "physically register". Now I believe that this goes for both "mental properties" and actual "physical ones" (i.e. body image) but here I'm mainly concerned of the physical appearance. And so in order to have any chance of objectively look at our own bodies (when that is what we want) is to do it in such a context that we can ""fool ourselves"" that we are looking at someone else, and this can never be done when "watching" (or more correctly evaluating, critiquing) yourself "live". Ideally I would even go as far as to argue that it's better if You can not even see Your face (or more generally speaking identify Yourself, in contexts where we are not talking about just physical appearance). All in order to to decouple Your "ego" and avoid all the "instinctive mental processes" that "looking at Yourself" unavoidably evokes. At least those are my "longwinded 5c's". Best regards
Drawn to him when I first started lifting and wanting to change my body.... little did I know the journey would transform me as a man. Bodybuilding principles, many things he espoused (that inspired me at 16 y.o.) still ring and prove true today. Grateful for his example and influence
Love his nutrition regimen. "Dont get off shape in the off season." Yessss! Each person is different but spot on. I eat the same. Fruits and vegetables. LOTS of vegetables, small carbs and moderate protein. Small amount of fat from the food. Then all you need to do is workout. The body will take care of the rest.
In my opinion Frank Zane is the epitome of bodybuilding. His physique resemble that of ancient sculptures. Proportions were perfect. He was literally my idol as I grew up and started bodybuilding 25 years ago. The guys almost in his 80s and looks phenomenal. Talk about longevity.
Arnold took up the headlines but Frank Zane possessed something special that every guy wanted. Seeing an elderly Zane is making me feel some sort of way.
Thanks for these podcasts and videos. I'm in my late 40s coming back into bodybuilding, and hearing the insight from these legends allows me to properly focus my energy. It really makes it an authentic experience.
I have always, since I was a kid knew and followed Frank Zane but this was the best interview I have ever seen about the life and career of this amazing bodybuilder!! Thank you!
In the interview Frank disclosed he did not use anabolic steroids in his supplementation regimen; that surprised me. At 72 years young, I am still trying to improve on my physique, but all the various training techniques, diets or natural supplements I have tried over the years have not provided more muscle mass or definition. Past injuries have limited my weight and movements, but Frank has inspired me to try lighter weight and focus on the pump. Overtraining and recovery has always been a problem for me, possibly stopping after a good pump is achieved will yield better results for me. Thanks for sharing what worked for you Frank!
What he actually said was that he didn’t rely on it to help him win. I took it mean that he took the minimum amount. No overdosing. I’ve seen it many different places where it seems people are mad that FC would say how much he took and steroids. But I believe it’s because (1) they were legal then but illegal now. (2) he and perhaps other bodybuilders do not want to encourage people to take steroids. He feels responsible
Almost right..no..steroids were not legal..a doctor could prescribe them or you could buy them from the street but you couldn't just buy steroids from a store in 1970
depends on what kinda physique you prefer. frank & steve, were a normal size on steriods, while everyone was of a size unattainable naturally. serge nubret is a bigger frank zane

@@breaks3085 yes he did. And we need to understand this that he is a product of his times where most bodybuilders didn't tell that they're on steroids and it's even common today. So take what's good in him and every individual will not have the capacity to stand on expectations of everyone .

What I see is analysis, discipline and patience.
@paul mitchell
Exactly. It helps that he clearly has an analytical mind when it comes to bodybuilding.
Absolute legend! Could not stop listening, wisdom & experience in every sentence. Loved it!
Youngsters getting into bodybuilding...listen to this man!
Mr. Frank is a very intellectual person. He is dropping some deep wisdom. Thanks sir.
Thank you for this I enjoy listening to Mr. Zane's perspective on things
Thank you for the interview.
Mind, Body, Spirit, and as he aged it became more transparent on what really counts in the long term health of human beings.
Man such a great interview. I hope he keeps a journal. He really embodies stoicism. Thanks.
Every now and then you stumble upon a REALLY ENJOYABLE podcast….. this was one of those!!
Many thanks. 👍👍👍👌👌👌
A nice mellow man through and through. He is just very genuine. God bless you mr. zane
Highly insightful and informative! Excellent stuff. 💪
Glad you enjoyed it!
You need to learn nutrition better.
I've watch this 4 times so far! You just can't get enough of Frank Zane. The man is full of Wisdom and. Rocky of Bodybuilding!🏆💪
THE LEGEND THAT GOT ME INTO MATERIALIZING YOUR GENETICS, MIND AND BODYS POTENTIAL. I got there ; now I train for longevity. Thank you Mr. Frank Zane.
Frank Zane is an absolute legend. I own/read all of his books. I still use most of his training routines (tailored to my physique) to this day!
It’s okay, you have a man crush
are u gay???
You’re a great interviewer, excellent work
Great interview. Thanks for making this happen
What a class act with great wisdom!
Thanks for these podcasts and videos. I'm in my late 40s coming back into bodybuilding, and hearing the insight from these legends allows me to properly focus my energy. It really makes it an authentic experience.
Same in my fifties, coming back.
I have always, since I was a kid knew and followed Frank Zane but this was the best interview I have ever seen about the life and career of this amazing bodybuilder!! Thank you!
He is phenomenal and love his character, this interview is amazing I love it. Thanks for this amazing interview with him
In the interview Frank disclosed he did not use anabolic steroids in his supplementation regimen; that surprised me. Thanks for sharing what worked for you Frank!
frank is a well known drug user,
What he actually said was that he didn’t rely on it to help him win.
Almost right..no..steroids were not legal..a doctor could prescribe them or you could buy them from the street but you couldn't just buy steroids from a store in 1970
Frank Zane and Steve Reeves are the two bodybuilders with the best well defined and most ideal physiques...!!!
depends on what kinda physique you prefer. frank & steve, were a normal size on steriods, while everyone was of a size unattainable naturally. serge nubret is a bigger frank zane
2 of the alltime greats its not about massive size its about proportion...symetry
Charles Bronson as well. 👍
This is a one of a kind interview, I applaude your dedication to quality videos. Well done!
Love Frank's comment on worrying "what if so and so is doing this or that," but came to the realization that the only thing that was really important is what he was doing! 11:15 ❤
Love the line of questions and quality answers here !
Fantastic Interview with Frank Zane. In the Mecca Era of training, The physiques of Frank Zane, Sergio Olivia and Flex Wheeler come to mind in terms of great asthetics and symmetry. But, Frank Zane's methodology of training discipline was years ahead of it's time.
but he's telling Lies
@@breaks3085 what lies ?
Plz be particular.
@@vibhorejaiswal2997 he used steroids to build his physique ,
@@breaks3085 yes he did.
And we need to understand this that he is a product of his times where most bodybuilders didn't tell that they're on steroids and it's even common today.
So take what's good in him and every individual will not have the capacity to stand on expectations of everyone .
This was such a great interview I loved it!
Iso lateral training is probably the most interesting training concept I’ve ever heard. Made perfect sense when he explained it. 🔥 I am definitely going to experiment with this at some point.💪 What an interesting and insightful person …legend 🙏💪
What a legend, and wise as well. Hope he lives a long fruitful life. One of my idols since I was a kid.
Thank you for asking great questions very educational. And Zane your a legend!
What a nice bloke Frank Zane is! Such an good interview. Many interesting observations and insights. He has a great sounding voice too.
Interview: How do I be like you Frank?
Frank Zane: Patience, understanding, setting goals, dedication, trail and error, eat, sleep, workout, take your vitamins and say your prayers.
Frank Zane the G.O.A.T.
Delightful interview, what an extraordinary human being Mr.Zane is.
Thank You both : respect!
That was some fantastic information! There is nobody in the World like Frank, his unique way of looking at things is very helpful and his calm and cool manner is really inspiring. He is one of the few people in the industry who speaks from genuine experience and intelligence.
Buddy needs to relearn some of his beliefs. Lol roid rage is proven to be a myth and doesn't change your personality... Second, trt will lower your chances of prostate cancer. Low testosterone makes you more likely to develop prostate cancer. Also he clearly has lied about his protein intake. The food he listed does not hit 240g of protein a day. Not even close and if you hit 240 g of protein a day without wating over 2000 calories I'll give you 5k cash. He was definitely taking taking protein even know he said he didn't.... doesn't add up.
He also lied about his AAS use
@@JLUX100 seriously how can you question this legend?,roid rage is real dependant on the person on it ive seen many change on them, frank zane do you even know his story or even researched his story guess not!
Frank Zane! The most awesomely symmetrical bodybuilder ever 💪 🧠 What a fantastic interview ✨
Great!! Really shows that getting mad or angry is just a waste of energy. Positive energy is the way to go. Thank you this was so very good.
Positive and Negative Energy create Polarization.
Balanced Energy is the way to 'go',
Or channel that negativity into greatness. MJ style
I'm Asian and I was a great admirer of Zane from afar, the man with greatest body shape, calm & hardly spoken bodybuilder of all time. I almost can't recognised Frank Zane now. I believe it's all Sheer Hard work to come this far.
this man is a treasure. Blessings to you Frank Zane 😌🙌🏾
Health is wealth......true treasure.
This interview is awesome. Thanks for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I’m a 49 year old skater, and I have been following this man since the beginning. I’ve never felt better, and now seeing this, I’m convinced… Zane rips.
such a calm gentle man. Hes easy to listen to
"You can't make a silk purse from a sow's ear." Frank had great genetic potential and used it.
I am 70, work out and walk daily. So encouraged me! Thanks
What an amazing amount of extremely valuable information!! And VERY pertinent to any bodybuilder, even today!! His diet, his schedule, his expectations during the whole year overall, regarding body composition...an absolute legend! 💪
Incredibly humble and an inspiring interview on many aspects.
47:50 "I can see out of both eyes" hahaha, that's an interesting way to look at it. Great interview with Mr. Zane again, he has quite a thoughtful approach to working out.
Awesome interview...Frank was one of the greats i grew up with..
Fabulous interview. Great questions in so many related areas, with great insights :)
Loved this interview never even knew of this guy....one thing that was a jewel to me was" work out at a tempo" Make "light weight feel heavy" and work at your goals and be about you and not others.
Awesome interview. Glad to see the legend doing well. 🙌
Frank Zane Total Fitness Course would be an instant Bestseller.
