Thanks for showing the two different techniques of cleaning the mat and reglueing the mat. So often, people ask how to make their mat sticky again and they are told to strip off all the sticky and restick, when all they actually need to do is either give it a wipe with a baby wipe or give it a quick wash to refresh the sticky. 💜
Aileen's Tack it Over and Over also works on your mats. Use water mixed with the glue and let it dry. This is what was used on the Cricut mats years ago when I first bought one.
I'm not sure this re-stick method will work on the fabric mat since that mat is super, super sticky. Worth trying, but I'm not sure the Zig Two Way glue is sticky enough to restore that particular mat. If you try it and it works, let me know. Good luck!
Thanks for the info I have a new machine and did a no no on my fabric mat, I used heat and bond ultra and it relly messed up my brand new mat Any thoughts or sugestions for me?
That is a pretty big problem and I'm not sure there is a way to get that off, to be honest. It's supposed to be a permanent bond with fabric so not sure about the plastic of the mat. You could try using a chemical de-sticker to attempt to remove it like Undu. Pour some on there, let it sit for a bit and then use a scraper to try and get it off. That's the only thing I can think of that might work. Good luck!
I'm glad you found it useful. Those glue pens will help you get a lot more use out of the mats. Just make sure they aren't too sticky after they're dry (happens to me a lot). You can press them to a cotton shirt or lint-free towel to take some of the stick off if you need to. 😉
I've done this before watching your video, but I'm not happy with it. The standard mat is way too sticky now😓 I've a second mat where I left some water on the surface, this became a little better.
You can also press the mat to a cotton t shirt or towel to remove some of the stickiness, as long as it's a tight knit so it won't leave too much residue on the mat.
I'm sorry to hear that. It's not a perfect solution but works for me most of the time. Another viewer commented that they use Aileen's Tack It Over and Over mixed with water instead of the Zig pen. Maybe that would be better for you? Could be worth a try. Good luck!
You will need the mats that work with DX models (obviously - lol), but those always start with CADXMAT and then have the stickiness and size in the model name. So, the Standard stickiness 12 x 12 mat is CADXMATSTD12. I’m not sure why Brother gives their mats these complicated designations but it can be tricky to figure out. Also, you can make sure any pictures of the packaging say “ScanNCut DX” on the white label. Hope that helps!
Thank you.....Holding thumbs for my umpteen mats I have that have lost all its stickiness!
I hope this method helps you with all of those mats!

Very true. Sometimes just a good clean will do the job. But it's also nice to know the more in-depth method to re-stick a mat too. 8-)

Good to know. I'll have to try that method too. Thanks for the tip!
Thank you so much for this tip to get the mat sticky again!!
I hope it's helpful! Thanks.
Thanks for the tutorial. Will look for that glue.
Thanks!
You can also use non-alcoholic baby wipes to clean your mats
Good to know. Thanks!
Thank you for the cleaning instructions for the mats. While I’m a new owner - it’s nice to have this advice.
No problem. I hope it helps when it’s time to clean your mats. 8-)
Thank you so much! Was great to see how this looked start to finish
No problem! I hope it was helpful.
Thank you. I needed this for a fabric mat. I’m learning.

I tried this glue method and it worked ok but much prefer the use of LA Totally Awesome. Easier and less expensive.
I hadn't heard of LA Totally Awesome but will have to give it a try. Thanks!
Yay Elena, I need to do this! Thanks.
It's easy!
Thanks for this. The first time I used my SnC mat I dropped it face down on the carpet! You can imagine the result🤣
Oh no! Well I hope some mild soap and water fixed it up.
Thank you very much!
Do you have to clean the tip of the gluestick?
So it wont get hard?
I never have. I wipe off any excess glue on it but that's it. Just make sure you put the cap back on and then it won't dry out.
@@BlackSheep303Crafts Thank your very much for your answer :)
Thank you for this tutorial, Elena. I was looking for help for this. Happy Fall 🍂🍁
Thanks Kathy! I hope it was helpful.

You bet! Thanks for checking it out.
In the uk pinflair stencil glue is approved by brother for re-sticking mats.
Ooh, thanks for sharing that! If I can get it in the US, I'm going to try it. 😀
Thanks for the info

@@BlackSheep303Crafts I've tried it and it doesn't really work for the paper cut lightbox I'm working on now.😓

Hi!
About how long did you wait for the glue to dry?
One hour? Or longer?
Thank You!
Well, I live in very arid Colorado so I waited about 20 - 30 minutes. In a more humid location it may take longer.
Thanks all, helpful, aids are great totally new to,using my scan n cut but anxious, tomlearn
The ScanNCut can feel intimidating in the beginning, but just keep playing and experimenting. It is really fun once you get the hang of it!
Excellent educational moment
