Thank you Paper Chef for saving me from constantly having to buy new mats. I finally took your advice and applied Zig Two-way glue to my cleaned mats. The results were absolutely amazing. I have learned so much from your tutorials. Please continue helping us to be better crafters with the our ScanNcut machines.
I found a work around for the mat when I needed a quick sticky mat. I had some clear, repositionable Con-tact paper. I cut it to within the registration marks, stuck it down and had a new, clean, sticky mat. I have cut with it several times and it works great. When it loses stick, I can peel it off and stick on a new piece. No waiting for glue to dry.
I love this idea. Thanks for sharing it so that others can give it a try. Last summer, I took a sheet of something similar. I figured it was double-sided so it would work. However, I cut right through it. I had shredded plastic and bumps all over so I gave up on using it.

I purchased some of the mats on Amazon and unfortunately they won't work in my Brother SDX225, giving a "not recognized" error. Do you know how to get around this error with these mats or do you know of anywhere else to get mats that will work for a better price?
Joella, you have to get one kind of mat for your DX and another kind for CM models. They are not interchangeable. You have a DX so there should be just one arrow because it only feeds in one direction. CM mats have two arrows. DX mats have a diamond shaped hole on the bottom and CM mats don't have any holes. Have you tried a different brand for scanning other than Brother? Or, is the brand you mentioned just for cutting. The inexpensive mat I'm referring to is actually a Brother mat. They are so much cheaper from another section of Amazon. They look a little different but work the same.

@@franceshum9580 If you are still using the same mat, that is great. You are good to go. Just restick it sometimes. My poor little SNC is a work horse.
I don't think the Cricut "piggyback" mat will work on a DX machine. It seems that making the mat thicker would mess up the auto pressure cuts and half cuts. The machine tests the mat thickness at the edge of the mat and then tests the thickness of the material to judge how deep the half should be. It would think the material is thicker by the thickness of the Cricut mat and that would throw off the auto half cut.
Makes sense which is why I just used my Cricut mat on my CM350. I don't want to mess up my AutoBlade. I sure do wish my mats were sticky. I have to keep re-sticking them often.

@@PaperedChef Thank you! I did order an extra mat...great minds think alike! I have to call them but have you heard of this one? After i started w extra mat yesterday, the blade started shredding my shapes! It started w corners looking doggy earred & separated. Thought it might b paper, tho it usually cut beautifully on same. Few cuts later it was completely shredding and ripping edges in the CENTER of shape, not like maybe it snagged on a edge. All the edging looks like i took that round device from Ranger on my edges to give it the "vintage" shredded look and any cuts at the .25 width it completely rips it. I see nothing online...have u heard or experienced that complaint? Figured id chk b4 i call them tomorrow morn. Thank u for the help. Again, i love your channel!!
Karen Opet Oh yes, ripping paper. There could be something stuck in your blade holder and you may need to sharpen your blade. Here is a video about blades. th-cam.com/video/tjuhKAsURIc/w-d-xo.html
@@PaperedChef You think? After just 2-3 wks it needs sharpening? Ive only used paper to keep it sharp. Cardstock was thickest. Are the machines that sensitive?? I appreciate all your help, really!! I just wanna b armed w info when i call, since ive read so many issues w dx. Its a shame, i just love love this machine!!
Flip your mats upside down to remove and keep your cardstock from curling.
Kim , is the inexpensive mats call La La sticky Designs, there half price ,
Have you tried a different brand for scanning other than Brother? Or, is the brand you mentioned just for cutting. The inexpensive mat I'm referring to is actually a Brother mat. They are so much cheaper from another section of Amazon. They look a little different but work the same.
Oh ok , no , I’m still using the same mat it came with , but I bought one at Michael and it’s a Brother Scan mat , I payed $20 , I see the one on Amazon is $17 , but so far I just been cutting with it , ♥️
Can you send me the inexpensive Brother, so I can see it , please and thank you for all u do
@@franceshum9580 It is still a Brother brand but it is cheaper than the regular mats. I think Amazon is onto me because they seem to be slowly raising the price on the cheaper mat from the sewing section as more people buy it. amzn.to/2DoKiZ7
@@franceshum9580 If you are still using the same mat, that is great. You are good to go. Just restick it sometimes. My poor little SNC is a work horse.
Or use the purple cricut mats 😉
I don't think the Cricut "piggyback" mat will work on a DX machine. It seems that making the
mat thicker would mess up the auto pressure cuts and half cuts.
Do Cricut mats work with the Brother scan n cut 2?
Not at all. That is one of the first things I tried. They are a different size.
