Even it just being the basic, a better driver would have beat the gt500. Also, the c8 is much more versatile. It would kill the gt500 around turns. It's lighter and more aerodynamic, too.

I think it's the front, a lot of people don't like the back but I don't think that looks too bad. The headlights popping up and the tall front end make it look odd too me.
People saying the race was close, the 500 absolutely blew by the vette, Once it got traction sorted out it was game over. Do this on prepped surface and the 500 would destroy the vette. The current 2022 Shelby GT500 Mustang is only available with the 10 spd automatic transmission, there is no optional manual shift transmission available, and the 2021 edition came with a Tremec 7 speed dual clutch trans . If you had used the electronic line-lock function and kept your foot on the throttle instead of lifting, when you were attempting to drag race the Vette you would have been more successful. If you want a Shelby with a manual transmission you'll have to settle for a 2021 or older Shelby GT350 or 2020 and older GT500. When you quoted the prices of each car you forgot to add in the $10,000 up-charge for the limited edition Shelby GT500. The only way you would see me buying a Corvette is if there was a: showroom condition, numbers matching, un-restored 1963 Stingray for a reasonable (under 5 figures and not in any shade of green paint) price. I would rather have an all original, un-restored, numbers matching 1969 Mach 1 Mustang, a 1969/1970 Boss 429 Mustang or an as seen in the movie 1969 Shelby GT500 "Elanor" Mustang.
this Mustang is far less successful on the drag strip because of the launch control system's delay between releasing the brake and actual takeoff. As you can see in this video it’s never a smooth launch. Sucks that this is a new gt500 and the system isn’t tuned for optimal launching.
@@joseph1541 On the drag strip you can set the RPM up more but still spin less so i wouldn't say "far less successful." But you are right about the delay.

That Mustang looks AWESOME! He always talks about storage...toss 200 pounds in the trunk of the GT for traction! New viewer and love your vid's
Both incredible and love the race. Would love to see a tuned corvette 💥💥💥
Tune for tune lmao
Corvettes are raw beauty, Mustangs are raw POWER!
NO THANKS. I don't need another company gathering information about me and my car. PAAAAASSS
Exactly, you don't know who they will be sharing or selling the data to. Plus they want you the buyer of their product to be the free test mules for their profits. Sorry but that is what I paid you to do!
Damn! Naturally aspirated that's intense
Tim having fun at HenneShmee
Yeah!!!! It doesn’t get any better than this! If you’re looking for the coolest and best looking performance car, it now comes down to these two and let me tell you what the best choice is, are you ready?..... ...... ...... Yeah, the answer iiiiiiisssss you will want to have both! Yeah!! It’s time to kick some ass!!! Yeah!!!! Dun dunun nun dun 🎶!!!!
I remember doing recruitment work for wejo back when they were a startup. They were based near Manchester ! Amazing stuff
When the more high performance versions of the C8 come out, won't be close.
Yes the Z06/ZR1 and the ZORA!!!
Wow, they look so good together!
Those guys take off like they are at a stop sign near the school where they are picking up the kids.
That corvette has reduced torque due to the break in period. I think it's down like 30% in first gear.
Exactly. 25% in 1st and 2nd i believe. I think it would be really close between the 2 once broken in. At least from a dig.
Even after that it lose by small margin and why you buy 3lt of 95k buy 1lt with z51 that performs same i had seen many drag races on drag strips in stock c8 z51 so overall c8 wins as it's very cheap to buy as compared to Shelby..c8,🤟🤟
@@sahilkhatri427 because that what a cheap ass does... 3LT all the way.
milage is 2514 if you watch the video at the 6:18 mark
sorry thats stang mielage
If I could get my hands on one I'd love the Ford Mustang-E as in electric, I love the body styles too. Like a Ford Tesla
What’s the top end speed of the gt? I think you would not keep that small lead in a all out 10 mile run!
Love this new format of car on car comparisons
I know it's not your thing and it's way out of left field but I'd love to see you visit Demolition Ranch lol I think seeing Shmee shoot a 50 caliber sniper rifle would be one of the greatest things ever on youtube. Plus seeing Shmee drive Matt's 5 ton military truck would definitely be a first for him and his fans.
This would be absolute gold
Both cars garbage compared to european supercars
@@zjfrydymfytr1199 lots cheaper though.
Thank you SHMEE for your clear English
9:58 "No Monica !!!!" 😆🤦♂️
You are comparing the highest performance Mustang against a basic Corvette. I would like to see a comparison of the Mustang GT500 against a Corvette Z06
Even it just being the basic, a better driver would have beat the gt500. Also, the c8 is much more versatile. It would kill the gt500 around turns. It's lighter and more aerodynamic, too.
With those rims, the C8 sort of reminds me of a Ferrari 430 🤔
That's intentional as the front end also resembles the F430.
I still don't really get the whole "Looks like a Ferrari" type point. Completely different body styles and not a lot of resemblance besides the mid-engine sameness.
Love that gt500. Such a very well built car that can run with the exotics
Shmee, your content as of late has been phenomenal!❤️
Thank you so much!
It has always been phenomenal.
@@Make-Asylums-Great-Again True, but I like American cars.😏
I would like to see a matchup between the Mustang and the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk.
Was the corvette in its’ reduced power break in period?
yeah i think it was he also looks like he didn’t use launch control the ford shouldn’t be able to beat it at that distance from a dig
motor trends race was better
milage is 2514 if you watch the video at the 6:18 mark
sorry, i'm dumb, wrong car
Shmee living life ¼ mile at a time 🤣
7:14 I'm quite surprised the revs drop so low during the launch. You'd think that'd all be figured out by now.
Why do none of these drag videos use the manual mode with paddle shifters to max out the rpms between shifts??
I am almost out of breathe myself when Tim is talking so fast.... What's the rush...? 🥵
Phew I wasn’t the only one!
😆 I’ve felt that way for years
lmaoooo dudes a menace
I notice they chose the Corvette to race the Stang. Guess the Camaro isn't even in the discussion. Now, about that Ford GT....
From the side, Corvette looks strange, especially in the back
Always thought the C8 was fugly. The C7 was a much nicer design, hopefully the C9 doesn't look like a wish ferrari
@@adamhallwood5768 Wish Ferrari :D:D:D:D:D You nailed it :D:D:D
I think it's the front, a lot of people don't like the back but I don't think that looks too bad. The headlights popping up and the tall front end make it look odd too me.
The front of the C8 is nice but the rear doesn’t flow just hella boxy and sharp
Classic over style it for old guys syndrome...
The back of that new Vette looks so awesome
Agreed. The previous model looked like a Pontiac from the rear. Beautiful car all around. Great value too for cars in its class.
Matt Watson joins the chat 💬
Thank you for doing a more realistic race. Wow! Better than the Carwow dudes
Still prefer the gt500 easy choice for me !
Yes I absolutely agree!
They seem so slow taking off when your used to watching sub 7 cars all day. 2 awesome cars.
Hey shmee, any plans for C8 in your shmeemobile fleet?
2 borderline supercars. Both are terrific for the price in my book.
For the C8 to only have 495hp compared to the 750hp the mustang. I would've thought the C8 had 690hp just from the race results alone.
Wtf did you watch lol the 500 freight trained that vette once it could put the power down
Ever heard spinning ain't winning
not the result i expected yet entertaining and informative
Can't wait to see the ZR1 in action
People saying the race was close, the 500 absolutely blew by the vette, Once it got traction sorted out it was game over. Do this on prepped surface and the 500 would destroy the vette. Not to mention if this was a half mile the 500 would have put a train length on this vette
Disclaimer I own an Audi and don’t have a preference between these cars but it’s obvious which is faster lol
When u get the gt500 in England I would love to see partake a race in carwow
That's my favorite drag strip. Now that it is a full 1/4 mile strip. To bad it's the only 1/4 mile track in the Houston vicinity, now that Royal Purple is closed.
YEEEEEES a c8!!! love that car ❤️❤️
I HAVE BEEN A CHEVROLET CORVETTE FAN SINCE I FIRST SAW A 1961 C1 CHEVROLET CORVETTE
@@williebowen1043 bro I wasn’t even alive in 1961!! Hahah
I love the fact that the GT500 is the best mustang you can get and the C8 is the base model 😳
I love the fact that you don't own either of these cars and never will 😳
10minutes of talking 30 secs of racing gotta love this rich ginger
Try turning traction control off 🤦🏻♂️
In the gt500 you can’t use launch control with traction control off
this Mustang is far less successful on the drag strip because of the launch control system's delay between releasing the brake and actual takeoff.
This video should be called "Two Dorks With Cars They Cant Handle"
Stoplight to stoplight the C8 wins 10 out of 10 times. Not even close
There aren't any red lights on the interstate, and the cops catch the vette first. 10 out of 10 times.
Nice video. But oh my gosh. It's always a stock Corvette against an upgraded top of the line Mustangs, Hellcats, Chargers etc. Even up against Lambo's.
Never a stock vs stock. That's why I chose Corvette. Stock. Still shines. Keeping it, and now going for the Z06.
moral of the story: never race a C8 off the line, only rolling starts.
@Random Autonomous Drone Pilot that c8 is about 75k it's with options but I doubt it's gonna ever stay at 60k msrp. A zr1 c8 is gonna be close to 130k or more
@@Stormtrooper-oc4vn you're talking about a car that doesn't even exist yet, the one out now absolutely costs 60k
@@phillippinoFLASH 60k and you get all seasons no summer tires, no racing seats, no spoiler for downforce and other goodies. Not really the way to go for 60k. Now you want the good stuff your at 75k. I'm saying it's not gonna stay at 60k msrp for long it's gonna go up eventually. Read the comment again. And the zr1 I'm making speculation based on the market.
@@Stormtrooper-oc4vn the way I see it 60k gets you the exact same engine and a 3 second 0-60. The 75k car is the exact same car as the 60k car the only differences is simple stuff
@@Stormtrooper-oc4vn and what do you mean it wont stay 60k for long? The base c8 will stay around 60k with probably a few bumps in price every other year but essentially stay at 60k
Did anyone else notice the vibe, felt like you intentionally lost the Race 2 8:16
You ARE LIVING THE DREAM MAN!!!! Enjoy america!
The fact a base c8 can even compete with the top mustang is impressive for GM. Lets see how the z06 does against the gt500 as that would be a fair fight as both cars would be similar in price and trim level.
Corvette and mustang aren’t even the same class tho. Should be gt vs the c8. Little more similar since they both wanna be euro cars.
