2013-14 automatic Mustangs have FULL manual mode. Either floor it in Drive right before saying “Go” or put the transmission in Sport mode, use +/- to get in the right gear, then floor it on “Go” and put it in Drive right after, so the car can shift for you. It’s better than manually shifting the automatic because of the delay after you press the + button, unless you’re very familiar with it and know exactly when to press the + without shifting early or hitting the rev limiter. The roll race with the C6 should be much closer.

Huge bang for the buck, that's why i went with a 2011 C6 Grand Sport and Procharged it, cammed, LT headers and straight exhaust, added e85 support, upgraded the fuel system, bigass intercooler, pfadt race suspension, 345mm Toyo R888R's on the rear and 285's on the front, and more. That auto really stuffed the C5. I ran consistent 13.8's with a manual car at 4400 feet elevation with a 120k miles still on the factory clutch and factory suspension that was in terrible shape. My tires were brand new Firestone Firehawk indy 500's. Yes it was a track but it was not remotely sticky.
Fun video. Cool cars, all. I suspect if you learned the shift points for each gear on the C6, and got your shifts quicker, it would have come out on top. Honestly though, I am just pleased to see young adults that can drive manual at all. Both my children can. Keep having fun. Looking forward to future videos. This is the first of your's that I have encountered. Will check out some others.
The cool thing is the C4 ZR-1 that you tested would have beaten both the C6 and the mustang by quite a bit. Shows how fast the ZR1 was back in the day.
Pops should've been manually shifting that 5.0 since the torque curve is so flat in the ls. Too bad the cars weren't all manual since they'd all be 6spd, the autos were the big variable here 🧐 My son has the 5.0 with boss 302 intake,3" ford racing exhaust and a tune. It's a trac- pac so gears are 3.73 and it's pretty impressive 😁
why didnt they manually shift the mustang or downshift it then let it shift itself in drive? I have a 2014 mustang GT i raced a header only c5 on a 60 roll, i had a tune and intake auto he only had headers and manual i didnt downshift either he got the jump but i reeled him and put about 2 cars on him
I bought a 2005 C6 convertible Z51 package and love the car...not as fast as the C7s or C8s but as you mentioned for the money I get a fun car with great performance
Too bad all 3 weren't stick shift to compare but then you run into the issue of the driver being the deciding factor in shifting the vehicle correctly. Ya have some things to learn on shifting a performance vehicle Tobby, those shifts can run about as fast as an automatic if you time your clutch work perfectly with your gear shift. Great prices on them though, nice finds.
We have a C6 Z06 and 13 Boss. This video made me chuckle, as I feel as fortunate as you two. Different drive styles, but amazing car experience's. The 60's are back, but for how long? After that the vetts we’re I don’t know lack luster to me burn out machines. Only thing I seen that guy lose to was a Camaro iroc z that was probably more modded then my friend tuner. The all wheel difference didn’t matter that day. I will never forget looking over at him and being like dam Danny that Camaro beat you pretty good and it sounded so much cooler doing it lol
Tommy you did good trying manual selections in the C5 as well as picking the right gear in the C6. Roman did poorly because the Mustang was never given the opportunity to have Manual gear selection. Had that happed it would have walked the C6 again. Tommy you are right the coyote definitely punches above its weight. I own a 17 GT and 17 C7. The coyote deserves a lighter chassis. On the roll races, we need that mustang in manual mode to give it a fair chance against the manual vette.
Them coyotes ain’t no joke. And that’s a gen 1 motor! But I will say my 4v NA properly tuned and built motor will put down 425 to the wheels
Crazy how much elevation slows motors down. Im at 1000 ft above sea level. My wife drives a 2018 camaro RS 3.6.
On my draggy in the 1/4 i run 13.6 at 105 mph.
I also ride bikes and snowmobiles iv ridden im the rockies at high elevation snowmobiles iv felt the power loss climbing mountains just blows my mind. Why i love my turbo sleds and cars dont lose power like natural aspirated engines.
Great stuff
Thanks for the entertainment
Sweet video. Love seeing these older cars. Tommy, are you wearing an Omega MoonSwatch?
Nice, was the LS3 Vette not an option for you guys? Feel like the price is pretty similar for a good kick up in performance
These are all cars they have purchased recently and just decided to race is all
@@watchreport no I understand that. But in my my mind... The price difference between the ls3 and ls2 Vette isn't crazy, so If I'm spending the money, I would aim for the better platform
Good and fun video. Keep them coming guys, really do enjoy the channel. (oh, and I'm a Corvette guy all the way.) 😊👍
I have an '07 c6 z51. I like 'em all. I can appreciate any of them. No need for haters. We like what we like. I always enjoy unmodid races. There are too many variables when mods are done. Just have fun and be safe
Real life racing coyotes are about the most dangerous to race. Great base by my god those things take boost soooooo well. Especially gen 2 coyotes
I knew a dude with a boosted stock ls1 that used to give boosted coyotes hell…he only made like 600whp too
3:15 rearmed would’ve helped the Vette a lot, the 2:73 is called the gore gear for a reason.
Great video. Three performance cars for the price of a new full size, mid level truck with a few options. Sounds like a steal of a deal.
Yes my C6 is beast!!! LS2 baby!!
What the hell happened? Pops spanked ya with the coyote 😂
The cool thing is the C4 ZR-1 that you tested would have beaten both the C6 and the mustang by quite a bit. Shows how fast the ZR1 was back in the day.
That is my favorite Mustang. I would even accept the auto, as that thing shifts so well.
The stang wins because it's more practical. You can have 2 more friends in back + all the shopping bags in the trunk. and you can have fun with it.
Trade that auto c5 for a manual c5.
+1
Pops should've been manually shifting that 5.0 since the torque curve is so flat in the ls. Too bad the cars weren't all manual since they'd all be 6spd, the autos were the big variable here 🧐 My son has the 5.0 with boss 302 intake,3" ford racing exhaust and a tune. It's a trac- pac so gears are 3.73 and it's pretty impressive 😁
why didnt they manually shift the mustang or downshift it then let it shift itself in drive? I have a 2014 mustang GT i raced a header only c5 on a 60 roll, i had a tune and intake auto he only had headers and manual i didnt downshift either he got the jump but i reeled him and put about 2 cars on him
C6 driver needs a driver mod, those should easliy beat that mustang
"Manual shifting" when u jump the start
"Holding with me" when he's blowing by u
What world is dude in
He is a slow shifter...would have made a difference.
Those LS2 Corvettes were known to have some pretty aggressive torque management that cut a LOT of power.
The c6 is just so impressive for its age. I have an LS3 manual and I’m so happy with it
It's C5's like that, that gave Mustang GT owners false confidence thinking they could beat up on my Z06. Even when it was stock, it wasn't even close.
My 14' Coyote went 10.96@125 on 93 with bolt on mods... 9.93@138 on 93 with 8psi...
How about a C5 z06 to get the numbers more close? That would be a much more interesting, and fair, race.
I bought a 2005 C6 convertible Z51 package and love the car...not as fast as the C7s or C8s but as you mentioned for the money I get a fun car with great performance
Wish you had the 3.15 sport diff auto for the C5. The 2.73 was the slowest c5 trim, by a large margin.
Awesome! Next video should be S550 5.0 vs C7
Auto 1st gen Coyote with a tune and converter gain about a full second and 10 mph in the 1/4, been shown time and time again.
Why everyone keeps putting the Mustang up against the Corvette?? The Corvette is a super sports car, The Mustang is a muscle car... no comparison 🤷♂️
Manufacturer's are headed electric. Might be a great time to scoop up these affordable cars, before you can't find one. ? Father & son, doesn't get any better :-)
I had a friend when I was a teenager with an eagle talon. All wheel drive with the Mitsubishi engine some mods of course turbo I believe it had inner coolers not a super gear head and this was like 20 years ago but he beat the pants off vetts and a lot of other cars.
Love both, but the newer Mustangs are proper fast!
In a quarter mile top speed won't be as fast.
@@mbsnydercmost definitely will be.
@@burgerbandit3646 compared to what? And what model I'm talking just the GT.
Can you compare with the Camero??
Coyote heads breathe better than virtually anything so I assume it can gather more air up high.
When I drive the C7 I often think how the coyote would complete the car.
Love the Colorado scenery too!
Lol 2014 mustang vs a 2006 c6 and a 1999 c5. Corvettes are beasts. And the mustang barely beats them and loses too. Put a 2014 vette against a 2006 and 1999 mustang and it will dominate/ smoke them
Bro you can cook a burger inbetween these shifts, looks like the car is being pushed back each shift
He can’t shift or they arent really racing.
Why not put it up against at least a 2008 Corvette with the 430hp LS3?
Soooo is that C5 about the speed of the new HO Ford Power Stroke?
Edit: and almost as quick as the C6 manual.
Are you leaving the vette in drive not OD since it has 2.73 gears? I think it would definitely help keep your RPMS UP
Speaking of 1999....I watched a few C5s turn mid 15s at Bandimere like that stock with the mentioned A4. Most of the F-bodys ran quicker "stock" with a 6 speed and 3.42.
Pathetic... my old C4 runs 13.5 with just a mild camshaft
