I actually learned how to drive in one of these. Perfect for a first car. Good on gas, engine is quiet, seats are pretty comfortable. Plus it's kind of a gem with its column shifter and a bench seat. It's definitely one of the last of its kind for sure...
@@michaelmohrle1773 I have an 08 impala lt with a column shifter and bench seats. Very weird as I have not seen any other like it. It’s a very weirdly optioned car with lots of options.
If you can only afford an econobox and don't want a shitty Asian, base model 4-banger (as reliable as they are), then this is the best option. I bought a used 2007 LT 3.5, fully loaded almost three years ago with 90,000 miles on it. It's a boring car to drive, a bit boring to look at (the car has its presence though), but it is smooth, surprisingly reliable (only my water pump broke at 100,000. Original one. warped front rotors replaced as well. Original ones too.) and also ridiculously fuel efficient for such a heavy car with a relatively large engine. Power everything, sunroof, great stereo system, comfy seats, TCS, dual zone climate control, steering wheel controls, cruise control, REMOTE START! And even a freaking AUX jack!! And the interior doesn't feel super cheap. the dashboard is cushioned two-tone plastic/vinyl with a leathery feel. Fake wood is very smooth and shiny. Fabric is very soft. steering wheel is wrapped in real leather. The only cheap plastic is in the center console lock (broke twice on me. $10 piece though, so no big deal)and the steering column casing. For $6,000, I'm glad I didn't buy a beat up 4 banger Camry or Civic with probably twice the millage. this car feels a lot more expensive than it actually is. Only things that I don't like but I really don't mind: the 4-speed transmission is slow as fuck and the ratios are way too long. It insists on shifting to overdrive as soon as it can. I'm often cruising at 40mph at 999 rpms! (reason why it's so fuel efficient) When you need more speed it's very hesitant to downshift. When it does, it's nice to hear the big-old pushrod V6 droning like a cow though! Steering is a bit heavy. I tested other Impalas and that's how they feel apparently. Even being heavier than other cars, often the steering feels over assisted and has absolutely no feedback or road feel. It took me a while to get used to it after driving a 2011 camry for a while.
Indeed. I got the SS myself. Lovely car. Wouldn't trade it for nothing. The 4 Speed is alright and the steering might be a little more pronounced on my SS, compared to all the other models, but it isn't bad after all. Imported it to Germany 5+ years ago. You simply can't beat the value!
Nice The SS is a real classic now! The 5.3 V8 sounds so nice. I'm trading in my '07 for a newer 2013 with the 306hp 3.6 V6 and the 6-speed. However, I am still looking around for a good SS. It's hard to find one for a decent price and low miles. Nice to hear a good old Impala is living all the way in Germany.
I have an 06 LS with a 3.5 V6 and I like it to this day. Got it from my grandma back in 2014 after she started to not use the car hardly. Needed about $650 of work from lack of driving, but it was amazingly all simple stuff that you’d have to do anyways. (I believe it was brakes, rotors, tires, muffler and something else) only thing that makes me hate it now are these actuators inside the dash that like to break often, but they’re cheap parts. Nowadays my work commute is 50 miles per day and I think the car is all the better for it. It likes riding and I like driving it. If anything living up north my car will die from rust before major parts do and I hope that isn’t anytime soon. 15 years strong. Go Impy! (Yes I know dumb name)
Had the chance to drive a 2008 Chevrolet Impala...Cloth interior,Floor shift with the 3.5L V6. really didn't have alot to complain about. the driving dynamics were smooth but unremarkable. Car felt pretty solid in terms of build and even the interior no squeaks or rattles plus road noise was well managed. as far as the powertrain went the 3.5 was adequate and i rarely felt a need to push it much past 2000 RPM to keep up with traffic. very little engine noise and vibration as well...only issue on that impala was a Throttle position sensor issue that set the Check engine light & greatly reduced engine power affecting drivability...other than that id buy one in good condition.

I have had a '06 Chevrolet Impala LT since May '09, and I am so underwhelmed by it, I just bought a '07 Honda Accord EX-L V6. My Impala did not come with the optional antilock brakes, so the brakes lock up and the car skids in emergency braking situations. The Accord has four wheel anti-lock brakes with Electronic Brake Distribution, so it stops in a much shorter distance than the Impala. The Accord kicks the shit out of the Impala in every way except two: trunk space and AUX plug on the radio.

I own a '13 model. It realy isn't a bad car at all. The ride is smooth for a big FWD boat, but it can go pretty fast if you floor it. And you're right about it being good looking too. It's a sleek and simple design that some may find "boring", but I don't think it is. My only complaint is that I wish GM would have updated the radio to a screen/bluetooth system for the '12 model year. Overall, I think it's just trendy for people to hate on American brand cars.

The impala has a stiff and jittery ride And Should not be compared to a toy on a Camry Or Honda Accord Rather to More archaic large sedans like the Ford Taurus and Dodge intrepid.
That braking result is really poor. Possibly a deal-breaker. I'm puzzled as to why this car seems to have seriously outsold Ford's Five Hundred, which I'd say is its nearest competitor.
Unfortunately this never happened! 😂 As a proud GM customer, 11’ Impala LT owner I would have loved a Rear Wheel Drive SS under the ninth gen design. Love these cars. Didn’t GM pull the plug in 09’? Remember seeing the commercials in 2008 as a child.

i just bought a used 2008 impala anniversary edition, ZL7 3.5 V6 with 219Hp 220Lb ft of torque. its faster then the 3.5 they tested here and mine is NOT flex fuel. red with black interior and i love my car!
I'm having problems with the battery could u show me a diagram
damnnn this model is the same design as the 2013 impala! wow! didnt change till 2014 to a new design wow!
@smczack1 how is ur gas mileage i rele want the ss but i cnt afford to much food to feed it lol
Thanks
@soyntgo4it Well, taxi companies in my neighborhood still use Crown Victorias. Do you still have a problem with that?
This just makes me miss our 2008 LT (with a column shift) more. Got into an accident years ago and we have had a 2012 Ford Focus SEL and man, do I really dislike it compared to the Impala 😕.
Just got a 2007 impala 9c1 and it’s not bad I wish it had a better mpg but that’s just my preference it’s quick it’s roomie and I had a 92 crown Vic so it’s seemed sorta mid sized compared to that but still huge on the inside
I thought you couldnt get the ss package with 4 doors?
No all 06-09 SS Impalas were 4 door, the Monte Carlo SS was 2 door.
2006-2013 Chevy Impala. The official last of the W-Body.
odd the 211hp 3.5 does 0 _60 in 8.3 seconds but the same reviewer did 0_60 in 7.5 seconds in the 200hp 3.8 2000 impala.
3674 lbs. on the 2006 versus 3389 on the 2000.
@soyntgo4it I didn't even mention about using public transportaion. Why are you switching the topic?
I've seen a selector of the transmission located near the steering wheel and on the floor tunnel. What's the difference?
One is a 5 seater one is a 6 seater. Same transmission
My Dad had the LS, Good car.
yes!
I got a 2010 impala ltz 3.9l with black on black leather tinted windows bose stereo with bluetooth heated seats . sat radio and the thing goes good smooth quiet . its got navigation . hands free calling etc. If i was looking for a fast car i would get a jeep grand Cherokee srt . thing would smoke 80 percent of cars on the road. Whatch some youtube of the jeep srt beating lambos n chargers. The all wheel drive trees everyone of the starts
im daily driving a '98 L82 3100 sfi with the 4t60e transmission in a Lumina ls with nearly 300000k. It still runs perfectly. Built in oshawa about 30 mins away I have a ton of pride for GM sedans, They look and perform the best imo, classy and reliable as fuck. Remember to change your fluids and dont redline off a cold start when its -30 outside!! people do this shit everyday and wonder how their Economical cars break after a few short years..respect it not neglect it & it will last 20 years
@jherskine The Ex v6 And the Impala ss are Two different cars the Impala ss is ment for performence the accord is more luxury The resale value might be higher for the accord but the Impala is still the better car
This is the new Chevy Lumina
Favorite car :p
an impala is not a midsize...that means a charger is midsize
they don't show the ss on the 0-60 track? wtf?
I had a '07 Impala SS.
the SS was badass we have a 2006 LS
The Impala SS needs the 2007 Monte Carlo SS front bumper to make it a true Impala SS.
The Impala is a Full sized sedan, NOT a mid sized.
@soyntgo4it Don't you know that taxi companies are also privately owned?
الامبالا سياره عالميه بمعنى الكلمه وانا اعشق الامبالا
Dis car is so nice i like the 2009 version tho there no other car i will rather buy than this except a bentley bmw you know wat am saying but the ss is my fav am getting it as my first car!!!
@macktenful how is the impala a better car? the accord has a nicer interior, better engine (much more advanced), better transmission, better looks, and certainly better handling. there is a reason why the accord is consistently on car and drivers 10 best.
SS will smoke your stupid honda. Cant swing a dead cat without hitting a honda. I bet it got some shitty exhaust on it and u think it sounds good. Be original instead of buying a honda that everyone got.
I have grocery bag hooks? Whoa, who knew!
I can’t imagine paying 31,000 for this Impala I paid 4000 for mine
This first price was when It was launched in 2005.
@@jonathanquiroz1 I know that . I’m very knowledgeable about cars and when they come out. It just that this car is so BLAND 31000 is high
@jherskine Don't you test drive cars before you buy them? Why did you buy a new-ish vehicle without ABS in the first place? I like import cars, but I think you simply bought the wrong car to begin with.
@americanstylefreak The 3.0L V6 engine in my '07 Honda Accord puts out 244 HP.
the chevorlet impala is not a midsize car its a fullsize car.
The SS and Police versions stop way better than the base 3.5.
@soyntgo4it Hey man, my friend's Sienna didn't last longer when its tranmission and alternator blew up. Ah also NHTSA is investigating door fires recently. Watch your back!
the new impala is slower than the 2005 impala the 2006 o to 60 2006 impala 8.3 and chevy impala 2005 o to 60 7.5
why?
and i have the FE3 suspension and 18" wheels and bigger brakes all standard.
1:57 Disappointing is right. A 95 Tahoe, with more weight and ten years less technology got 135' in the 0-60.

The most vanilla of rental cars.
Standard dash click
@ecurules Because the impala is bigger inside atleast to me it is
This impala Is what you would expect if General Motors were to design a car that was Design and Destin to be a rental car. I've driven dozens of these over the years and although I do like the steering I take exception when he compares the ride to a Toyota Camry. The impala has a stiff and jittery ride And Should not be compared to a toy on a Camry Or Honda Accord Rather to More archaic large sedans like the Ford Taurus and Dodge intrepid.
The Impala is full sized and the Malibu is mid sized. Also, I absolutely hate it when people pronounce it IM-PAL-UH.
Cool
@soyntgo4it But many companies are.
Love my lt nough said
That braking result is really poor. Possibly a deal-breaker.
I'm puzzled as to why this car seems to have seriously outsold Ford's Five Hundred, which I'd say is its nearest competitor.
I work for general motors and the 2012 impala SS is gonna be rwd not to worry.
@tjmick1992 the ss is better than any accord
Japanese Junk. 8 years later the namplate did get far and much more sophisticated. Still what never changed was my family sticking with GM.
Love their cars.
