I was in one of these for the first time 2 days ago, and I was surprised at how quiet it was. It also had very little engine vibration! It had soft touch materials, the dash didn't creak or anything, albeit the car had only 102,800 miles, but still it was a 2007, that's 14-15 years old! This particular one had the 3500 and it was able to get up and go fine!

GM loved W-body sleepers. The V8 SS and in later years the V6 had 300HP to the front wheels.
This gen came out in 06? I could have sworn these were a late-00s design. Right before I graduated high school my district bought a bunch of police package Impalas for drivers' ed cars. Way nicer than the junky Ford Focus they had me drive. These are super generic but I've always kind of wanted a police model.

Super heavy at the front end. I'm also always worried about grenading the transmission because of the power characteristics of the engine.

My trusty 06 impala finally died on me last week at 267k miles. She served me well 🫡 it was a super reliable car I was very surprised. Most I ever had to do to it in the 5 years of owning it apart from regular maintenance was replace the alternator and thermostat. Both were super easy and pretty cheap to get fixed. CarMax since 2006 this vehicle has giving me problems. Mainly was rack and pinion changed 3 times. That lead to do front suspension and control arms. Did fix it so far 🤞. If rehappens then must be the frame that holds the entire engine bay underneath.
Then the transmission. I had it rebuilt.
Last, both cylinder heads blew in 2019. I decided to replace them on my own. I just finished it last night.
I will start her up. Once I see that runs great for at least a month. I am done with her I am selling it.
That was my only luxury vehicle that I owned After that I have 4 dodge trucks that I am pleased to have.
The reason I like this Impala engines are push rods engines. No need to go far touching the time chains. Compare the trucks they carry a 3 chains 😂. Can't complain since they are build to haul.

I love the Impala. But they are severely underpowered and inefficient for their weight and size, especially if it has the 3.5 or 3.9 engines. Then there is the awful 1970s technology 4 speed transmission they paired with it. City driving gets you roughly 14-15 mpg. An embarrassment to GM IMO.
