I always label my cards condition with ink on the card. I don’t think it ruins the value, but gives them more character.

Just what I’ve been wanting to see. Been learning more and more about these old cards lately. Don’t have much of a collection but I’m gonna start buying alpha and beta cards that I can afford. I really like the way they look. Maybe 20 years from now they’ll be worth more but my plan is to hold onto them

Although there are no official numbers, the best estimates for Revised print run is 200-300 million. Which would mean about 100-150K of each Revised rare, not counting foreign Revised.
I still remember the very first dual land I pulled, Plateau from a Revised booster my parents bought for me at the flea market
Rudy, check the pricing on some of the unlimited stuff you're talking about. Ebay prices. Seriously. Inflation, market correction, whatever you want to call it. Dirty taco? I don't know. Badlands aren't going for $300-$400 anymore. Prices are going up across the board. The four black horsemen of Legends are now hovering around 2-3K a piece, you're welcome. I don't know if any of this stuff is going to retrace, but if so, not by much.

Before the pandemic I picked up a fork at my LGS - revised, was like $35 CAD when I bought it... I wanna have it graded, my buddy figures it'll catch a 9 or better.
got into magic a little over a year ago, I just play commander for now but i'd like to own a full set of arabian nights, going to start picking up NM copies of the lower end cards soon, the magical and historical bases for the set is just too cool to me, plus the artwork is amazing
Pendelhaven is cheap because of a large quantity of reprints and the low rarity of the original printing. Also, *I* care about banding - I still contend that it's a useful ability in some situations.

Pyramids is not that common but it allows for some powerful combos, like say armageddon pyramids, your lands die but half of mine survive, maybe even most of them in an artifact heavy white deck that uses mostly tronlands. So you can build some fun decks around that card
technically the roller line should add value if the rest of the card was pack-fresh.

Honestly if I had a chewed power 9 that I wanted slabbed, i'd just go the authentication route where they slab w/o grading and let people's own eyes do the grading.
beautiful cards. I can't believe that they worth so much today . I even remember using black markers on the white border cards because always thought black borders looked cooler. I could've made a lot of money but I had so much fun with. I lent the whole collection to a friend and never saw him again. I hope he actually made money from it.
The abur lands are way underappreciated
Mishra's Workshop is broke AF and it's a land. Power 11. I could see it getting the prices you say, plus it's rarer than all the other Power 9 cards, print-wise. Mana Matrix seems like a great commander card in a spell deck which could explain some of it's spike.

I love those video, because I can see older cards that I have known and other that went under my radar. BUT, I hate playing with PROXIES and I'm into historic-swiss-93/94 tournaments....and this reduces the amount of cards available and opens the unfortunate door to proxy.

99.99% crypto and electronic currency .001% cardboard currency. physical investments feel so much better than a # going up and down on a graph as far as investments go
the flipper vs the hodler. yeah, the moat guy could have made 20k in 5 years, but if you say 20 moats for 100$ selling for (forgot exactly what rudy said) like 300$ is still 4-6k into the next investment yeilding 10k, then again and so on, if he just makes the one move a year that's a much higher profit in the 5 years..
For what it's worth - I think some guys should be called Scalpers. The ones I am thinking of exemplify the behavior that Timmy's are known for however their behavior is worse because they are they ones that buy up mcdonald's happy meal toys so they can hoard the booster packs. The ones that shove parents or kids down in stores to buy Pokemon cards. Those I feel deserve the word and deserve to be reviled.
I think that there is a difference between responsible and mature investors such as yourself (and many of the people in this comment section) and the people that give investors bad names. That's my random user 2 cents... Now it's taco Thursday so imma go grab

I always loved the way white bordered cards looked. I think they got a bad reputation at the time because they existed in a pre-sleeve era and got dirt marks all the time.

why do people not pay 300 for badlands: 1) it isn't that good. maybe in EDH and legacy. 2) proxies are cheaper than eBay sellers make it seem if you surf to the right site. ones that pass tests. i'm not saying that i believe they sorta crashed their way into the GP. yea i'm sorta saying that. the only tests they fail seems to be bend test, weight test (they still match foils), corners test, paint-tone test (sometimes seems to pass, sometimes fail). the corners test and paint-tone test are just assumed to me: i.e. if you can hold it in your hand and instantly tell it's a proxy. but it's much different sleeved. also they might be using scans of actual cards.
or ok: maybe good in old school. i just think i can beat The Deck at least on an average day. *prolly 4 outta 7. w/ my izzet deck. i'm 2-0. so 100% w/r. but vs. the same deck. 70+ selesnya.. and then people stopped playing in mtgo..

Same here. I think there was a beta Lotus at my LGS for sale for $200, way too much money for a 10 year old kid back then. My parents would give me $20 to spend at the store so I could get a starter deck and some packs. I remember pulling a Jesters Cap out of an ice age starter and that was my best card I had.
I understand availability and rarity but won't the prices of these come to a point that makes them irrelevant to the game dropping the price?
