The great escape was a hobby / bicycle shop that was popular in the 80s and 90s in the mid Atlantic region . We had two in my area here in SC until the last one closed down a few years ago .
I'd love to see an updated collection video of everything to be honest! It would be cool to see your top stuff. Actually, what would be really cool is if you did a video of your best/favorite/high value cards out of your personal collection that you value most. Maybe do a back story how you got it, how long you've had it etc. MTG, FAB, anything your holding just your favorite personal stuff you love.
Even if a non dollar-denominated asset sees no real gains during inflation that's still much better than holding cash and seeing your real purchasing power undermined. In other words, sometimes you have to chose between the lesser of two evils.
One thing I always have at the back of my head is the Rockefeller's advice on how to earn during times like this; while others are panicking and selling or holding, just go a different route and invest right now, there's no better time.
My primary concern is how to grow my reserve of $300k which has been sitting duck since forever with zero to no gains, sure I know the risks of short term gains are much greater but if well managed one'd make a killing, am I wrong?

@@brownhilton2842 I’ve been on both end of the spectrum, I was investing on my own for about 3years, did my own study and analysis before actually buying, things became rather difficult after the pandemic which was right about when I reached out to a portfolio-advisor for guidance, It’s been over 2 years and I’ve scaled up a stagnant reserve of $280K to $700k in just about 24months.
I just recently saw the video from the MTG yt channel titled Dominaria United FIrst Look, and they apparently found an old warehouse full of sealed, well boxed Legends from 1994...they opened about 100 or more of them, so if ya havea good number of sealed LEgends, Rudy...the value of each just doubled since late july 2022. Congratz! ^

Showcasing Unlimited, which is my favorite set? Yes please! As a player from Europe, I'm stunned by how cheap you say Unlimited Basics are in the US. I regularly buy them, not to invest, but because I like them and want certain versions of them for my decks. The decent quality ones are now mostly above 5 EUR per piece. If you need 10 or 20, I sometimes couldn't get them even if I were willing to pay any price, because there simply not enough for sale unless I buy from further away, when shipping costs become a factor.
OMG... memories. Time Vault was my first ever MTG trade I did .I traded a Royal Assassin for the Time Vault. At that time I got hosed as the assassin was more valuable and the time vault just hit the banned list. Didn't stop me form playing it against my friends though.. good times.
Kitties also buy cardboard in a recession! My 29 cats all named Rudi haven't spent their.....or my money on anything except cardboard, catnip, and fancy feast for the past 6 months. It's actually gotten pretty bad. Ive resorted to using grocery bags as underwear, because I can't afford laundry detergent.......I've even developed a very strange rash that looks very similar to Bubbles from trailer park boys. Every time I ask the Rudi's for a few bucks they hiss and scratch me.....I'm starting to worry guys....

GREAT ESCAPE is a Record and Comic Book chain of 5 stores in the Nashville Tennessee area. They have been around since 1977 and when Magic came out in the 90’s they started buying and selling collections and singles. That is my guess for that sticker means if you are in Florida.
I first discovered these collection videos and your channel early 2021. By March I was obsessed, buying all the alpha and beta commons and uncommons I could. It’s now fall 2022 and I’ve come a long way. I’m currently beating the stock market and crypto hahaha.
I will mention I think there are exceptions to the basic land thing past UNlimited. Guru lands are never going to get reprinted without a new artist if they ever do and that printing style never has seemed to be duplicated . I dont think the prices have much room to grow but i thought it nuts when the island was $40 15 or so years ago now it seems to be $750 on the cheap side. I also think the Apac lands have been something that likely would not get a reprinting that would hurt thier value as they would have to repay that artist so it doesnt seem worth it. They are also fairly scarse

I'm sure there are multiple stores called "Great Escape" but here in Louisville we have a comic/hobby store called The Great Escape. Worth checking out if you are ever visiting

There were about 87K printed of each version of Alpha basic lands. There are only 2 versions of each basic in Alpha, not 3 like B,U,R. I would venture to guess that a very high amount of these were destroyed, thrown away, played to death, dog ate them, etc. So at most, 50k of each in decent condition, and most likely, a lot less than that.
The question about the Bazaar is more ambiguous than black and white. The case of MM2 will give you technically more mileage than 1 single Bazaar ever will. I mean collector vs player is just very different. Obviously the Bazaar is worth more to a collector than to a player. So ya, if I want to play magic (like modern), those are worth more to me than 1 bazaar.
Why would you not buy in a recession, wouldn’t they be cheaper because people are unable to sell? Or are people holding onto cards during recessions for that reason?
It should be only Timmy's SELL cardboard in a recession. Good thing us Rudy's BUY from Timmy's so we can sell to them in a few months when they suffer sellers remorse.
I think every Rudy's got to look at there cardboard life's work at least once a month...it won't take most of us 3 weeks to just get them all out of the vaults but it should be done none the less
He's saying he doesn't think WotC banning the card counts as adequate due dillligence. The banned cards are essentially RL you can't sell into buylists because stores won't take them. The real question is why would you want to stockpile them?

There's a small chain called Great Escape Games in Sacramento CA that's been open for 27 years...good store I went to around 98-99.
