Thank you for taking the time to make this video. It was very helpful. I like that your so organized in all your videos. My favorite is your camp kitchen that you built
Thanks for all of the resources! Because of you, I’m now bingeing on Notion! Lol! I’m having a blast organizing my gear and planning my first trip. I’m 65 and love your videos (and I binge on those too!)
Another tip: have a good detailed weather app so you can plan for weather and be aware of storms approaching you. Share your location (via Google Maps) with loved ones. Make sure to turn location on ALL the time. That way if something happens ON the way to your destination they will know better where you are at.
Yes! I usually turn it on just before I pull out. I could use a better weather app. The Apple one is meh. I use wunderground on desktop. I should see if they have an app. 🤔
I just wanted to apologize. I've been enjoying your videos for weeks and thought I had subscribed but I didn't! I've corrected that now. Thank you for your content. I'm a very new solo female camper so this information is helping me build the confidence to go more places!
Its Fall in Michigan. I agree, in general, 1-2 hours. For kind of a first of season "shake out" ill do 30/45 minutes. But Fall in Michigan - i follow the scenery!
Very very helpful!!! Thank you :) You are definitely a lot more organized than I am, but this video had many useful tips that I will use on my next camping adventure
Lol that would be *scandalous* to show! 😅 Half in the shed, some in the guest room closet, under the guest room bed, and the mini kitchen lives in my closet 😂 It was supposed to all be stored in the shed, but it’s just too hot out there 🔥
@@ShoestringMartha My old shed fell apart after some serious bad weather and I haven’t yet replaced it. So most of my kit is in the back of my car… not ideal! 😂 It’s the only place I have room!
When I had my van, it was always ready to go except for electronics, food, beverages, and clothes. Now that I am in a 4Runner, I will have to be more like you and make sure I have a good list. Thank you for all this information, it is very helpful!!
Yeah I wish I could keep it loaded, but we use it for so much more than camping, it has to be available for hauling lumber or sacks of concrete, at a moment's notice. 😄
Lots of great ideas! I’ve never heard of the motor vehicle use map, so I’ll have to check if there’s one for Minnesota. State parks, COE campgrounds and NFS campgrounds are all I’ve used so far. Kids, friends and I just got back from 6 days in the Boundary Waters, so food and equipment planning is necessary.
That sounds lovely! Planning camping trips with a group is a whole other level of complexity, to avoid gear overlap, and those, "oh I thought you were bringing firewood" whoopsie moments.
Well done! That was very helpful and informative. Thanks for taking the time to do this. It's nice to see your before trip behind the scenes process. It's a little more involved than what I thought. I'm very analog and like pen to paper but I've heard about Notion so I'll take a look and see if it's something I can handle. Loved the background scenes!
As always great Video Kori! I am just a throw the shit in the vehicle and go type a gal…..I always buy to much food though so planning meals is something I need to consider, but grab and groat is often the choice. Snackle boxes is next on my list of easy food stuff. One that stays and fits in my tiny fridge and one that can stay out.
I often wish I could be a fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants type, but I just have too much anxiety. 😅 Love snackleboxes, and they will definitely be featured in the no-cook camping meals video I have on my to-do list, for whenever I get around to it. 😄
USDA also has dispersed camping especially in the Plains. NCA (National Conservation Areas) "may" have some areas, like NM and ND. In Kansas, they have MANY lakes designed for fiahing, but camping is also allowed. Nebraska is $$ and police-y and workers are rude. Federal Parks in Nebraska are much better with better amenties than the State areas.
Love this video.... question....would you consider showing how to use that Notion site? I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to this, but love your work up.
Thank you! I probably wouldn't be the best teacher for it, as I only use about 3 functions (lists, bookmarks, and tables). The good news is, there are a lot of really fantastic Notion teachers on TH-cam. I looked at a few, and found this one to be pretty easy to understand. th-cam.com/video/IrIAmq80VEE/w-d-xo.html
Oh my goodness! Yes, you gave me lots of great information! I have only camped twice this summer but have another one in the planning stage for next month. And I try to stay out 2 nights, sometimes more. Any way, thank you for sharing your tips and tricks ❤
Planning 2024 California camping season this weekend. I have my list of parks & sites. Now, I need to select a date range then mark the date 6-7 months before to book at 12am 😂
LOL I probably should have mentioned another reason that I plan so early -- as you indicated, you basically HAVE TO -- if you want a spot, especially at a popular campground.
@@ShoestringMartha thank you so much. Btw I am 79 and sometimes I just can’t hold onto words long enough to google them. Otherwise…I am a spring chicken!
Great video…been binge watching all of them :) would you be willing to share pictures of the camping list you use? I would love to have something similar for my set up…at least the template. My procrastination is getting the best of me lol
Thank you! Here is the Notion doc. It's a little outdated, as I pretty much go from memory now, but it might be a good start. Also, it's clearly tailored to my particular needs -- with all the AV stuff included 😄 rose-vertebra-7d1.notion.site/Pre-Flight-0dcfa34cea154d019c1fa8b659a63db9?pvs=4
Ok ..I'm a year late to this party😢 but I have a question if you see this. I have Google map...it's just green background with directions..ANDROID.. I dont understand how you find all these places and KNOW WHAT THEY LOOK LIKE😢 mine doesn't show beautiful pictures..rocks..rivers lakes trees etc. I'm old n not a techy so sorry for dumb question. Thank you!! LOVE YOUR VIDEOS❤❤
Not at all a dumb question! It may be different on Android, but on iPhone, to get the satellite view, look for an icon that looks like two sheets of paper in a stack. It's just below the search field and to the right. Tapping that icon will bring up "Map Types," where you can select "Satellite". "Terrain" is sometimes useful too, if you want to get an idea of any mountains or any other nearby elevation. Hope this helps!
@@ShoestringMartha THANK YOU MAAM. I'm pretty much locked to Florida so I don't think mountains will be an issue. LOL!! BUT SWAMPS maybe..I will check it out n see what I can learn. Stay safe

Soooooo relatable 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Yay! It really is addictive. I’ve gotten into the templates and databases now. Good luck with your trip!

After listening to your prep, I suddenly remembered why I stopped camping. If it works for you then more power to ya.
I completely understand that most people find this level of planning burdensome, and I am a total weirdo who actually enjoys it. 😂
