Hi Kori, I rarely comment on TH-cam videos but felt compelled to leave one here. I really enjoyed this video. My parents are Korean immigrants, coming to the US in the mid 1980s. Growing up, I went on a lot of camping trips with them and we often made similar food to what you showed here - the kbbq with the special grill top on a butane stove by the campfire is a familiar sight! Sometimes the smell of our delicious marinated meats would make it to the next campsite over and hungry and curious campers would make their way over to our campsite to ask what we were cooking... I think secretly hoping we might share. We usually did :) My parents must have learned before I was born that rice takes an agonizingly long time to cook on the fire, because by the time I came around they made sure to lug one of our several rice cookers from home and plug it into shore power at the campground once we arrived at our destination. Now that I'm grown and go on camping trips on my own, a little 12v-powered rice cooker has made its way into my camp kitchen - highly recommend if you plan on cooking more rice on the road in the future! I didn't realize there were so many Korean women on TH-cam filming their camping adventures! My mom has told me that when she was in her 20s, she did a ton of hiking and camping in the mountains in Korea. There was no TH-cam back then, but it's fun to check out those channels and imagine my mom as a young woman exploring and cooking meals and sitting by the fire years ago. This was a fun trip down memory lane. Thanks for making this video and linking the Korean campers in the description. And don't worry about the pronunciation of 안녕 (annyeong), sounded spot on to me!
Hello and thank you so much for sharing these memories! It sounds like such a fun (and delicious) experience, camping with your family. And your mom sounds like an incredible pioneer! 💪 While making rice in a mess kit was a fun experiment, it did take a lot time, even for such a small serving. I can only imagine how long it would take to cook enough for a whole family. I do have a mini 12v rice cooker on my kitchen list! With the heat, and fire bans, I'm always looking for other non-flame-dependent tools to use. Thanks for watching, and safe and joyous travels 🥰
Hi I’m new to your channel, camper van Carolyn said you had a great channel so here I am watching your videos. I have now been watching you regularly and she was right!
You make the best camping food and accompany with a great variety of drinks. 😊. I think I will give it a try camping by myself since waiting for others to go with me is quite annoying. Thanks for the inspiration to explore even on my own.
@@yvonnesouto9023 wow. We’ve only camp at one place in MA so far, Sweet Water Camp Grounds in Brewster. It was nice to let our son loose with his friends on their bikes. They go swimming, fishing and biking there. We went to Province Town for some touristy stuff too. Do you have good recommendations for a quiet camp near the water that isn’t too crowded? We normally camp in RI, Burlingame and Fisherman’s Memorial state park. I like Burlingame the most because it is more secluded and closer to East Beach, which is really small and tucked away.
Lol I fell into the same rabbit hole, love the Korean girl campers. You’ve got the drinking and eating down but to make it more similar, you have to camp in heavy rain, the best! 😂

i did 6 months in sasebo around 2001. stop at micky d's about every other day. found a terayki burger there. taste wise i am saying the micky d pork sausage patty in terayki sauce. became a favorite when i stop in. okay 1 gatorade fight coming up, i prefer the grape zero or the powerade zero in grape. the powerade wins as it does not give the gatorade after taste when you don't need the enzymes. hated when they went from 32 ozs to 28 ozs a few years ago. suggestion leav about a inch in 1 bottle up to the first ring then throw that one into the freezer. after frozen fill up with your drink mix of whatever.
I watch a lot of those Korean campers too, they have so much fun, rain or shine. Much like yourself - thanks. I also wanted to note that all the best youtubers have lovely hoomans.
Yes! If the weather is bad, or they forget a piece of equipment -- they shrug it off and make the best of it. I was going to include something about it in the video, but it got cut for time -- I also love the appreciation of seasonality and regionality. Whether it's snow, or changing leaves, or cherry blossoms, or the ocean -- they admire it deeply. When they are in an area known for some particular food, drink, or crop, they are always sure to try that item. It's traveling with a sense of time and place.
@@ShoestringMartha Eating local seasonal food is a big part of Korean culture. Koreans are serious about the freshness of ingredients, local and seasonal.
I can see that, and am a little envious of it. Having indistinct seasons, and everything available, all the time makes one feel detached from nature, and out of sync with the progression of time.

Yes! And I love seeing how different the campgrounds are. It seems most are privately-run, and have a store. Some have communal kitchens where you can wash your dishes and heat your food.
