Nice videos yeah. The filter cap should be 25nm and u hand - tightended it... Strong guy. It's good to do the filter first and then open the drain plug, that way the oil drains faster and the filter oil gets to sump before draining. It's extremely important also make sure that the center part of the filter housing is installed because sometimes it's stuck in the old filter and some garages have even thrown it accidentally away and that causes vanos problems. Drain plug is good to wipe carefully so that there isn't any dirt when u install it with the new spacer. Also remember that idrive doesn't update the oil level immediately so if it shows low, don't add oil but wait. Important to add correct amount of oil.
Liqui Moly oil seems to be the mosy popular BMW oil among do it yourself and independent shops than Castrol. Redline, Royal Purple, Amsoil, and Motul racing oil are also popular. I purchase my liqui Moly oil on Amazon at a pretty good price. I get one five liter jug plus a single liter to do an oil change on my BMW E46 M3. I use Synthoil Race Tech GT1 SAE 10W-60 by Liqui-Moly. It comes out to about $10 a liter. If I buy my oil exclusively in five liter jugs ($44) it comes out less than $10 a liter. I use the Mahle brand oil filter cartridge. And a stainless steel, very high-quality magnetic drain plug by a company called Dimple.
I see some of you n54 guys switching to liquimoly. Any particular reason? Also what weight would you recommend for southern east coast states? Currently using Castrol full synthetic euro blend which is 0w-40. Thanks BMW fanatic!

One thing you guys can try is driving your BMW up on 2x4 blocks of wood. All you need is an extra couple of inches to get that drain bolt off. I use four blocks that are about two feet in length. You just drive up on them (super fast) and the car is 100% level. No jacking required. Give it a try.

It doesn't make a difference really, its still within oil weight specifications from BMW. Also if you tend to get the car a little hot with spirited driving you might want to go with the 40w

hold down odometer button till u see yellow triangle then you can access service menu scroll to oil and hold reset
