I use Castrol edge 0w40 in my 530d F11, but I don’t buy long life as I change it and the filter every 5k miles. Better for both the engine and camchain.
In fact bmw recommends all those viscosity u said no , it says in my instructions book . Is not recommended to use 0w-20 in warm climate, i use 5w-30, all depends how u drive and how cold and hot is the weather
Watch out for Amazon Oil Basics in BMW's. Lost my 320i because it has no LSPI protection that is up to standard. Piston came out the side, pre-ignition problems. Learned a very expensive lesson. Pay more for your oil, and save your engine
Probably quite the opposite. His claim that thinner oil offers more protection is misleading at best. Thinner oil protects the engine better at startup, and is better for fuel comsumption (which is an important reason the manufacturer recommends it). But with heat the oil can become too thin. Thicker oil is usually recommended for warmer climates. If you drive aggressively the engine will generate more heat, and you would probably want a thicker oil to maintain the protection, not thinner.
I have a 2024 BMW 2.0 B48. what is the best street performance oil. I live in a warm climate Miami Florida I drive spirited, but not tracking my car. Recommended by dealer is the 0w20... But I want the best brand with the best engine protection. I don't mind paying a high price. I want my engine to last. By the way I change my oil between 3 to 4 thousand miles max.
if you want the engine to last, never use 0W-20 despite the dealer saying so (especially LL-17 FE+) if your car doesn't have a GPF filter, you can use LL-01 5W-30 without any problems otherwise use LL-12 5W-30 your car's engine will thank you
@enblr thank you f. or your response. What is the difference between ll 01, and ll 12 ? Also wich do you feel is the hest brand ? Lastly, between 0w30 and 5w30 ? Thanks bro.
@@ericsivilla4091 the key difference between the two is that LL-01 has a much higher SAPS (Sulfated Ash, Phosphorus, and Sulfur) content, which enhances performance by providing anti-wear properties, oxidation stability, and corrosion protection however, a high SAPS level oil can clog a GPF (Gasoline Particulate Filter), so it is not recommended for use in cars equipped with one in terms of SAPS content, LL-12 oil is formulated to balance engine protection with emissions system compatibility, making it suitable for cars with GPF or DPF filters I can’t recommend the best brand to choose, but I use original BMW oil myself 0W oils are suited for colder climates because their lower viscosity at lower temperatures provides much better cold starts considering you live in Florida, 5W might be a better choice for you
@@ericsivilla4091 GPF stands for Gasoline Particulate Filter as far as I know, BMWs for the US market are rarely equipped with this filter, but I would recommend checking with your dealer to confirm

But you have failed to advise people correctly that, With high mileage bmw's that have motors that have done high amounts of km's to use thicker and heavier we8ght oils! Stop pretending to know what your talking about and advising people to use the wrong oils for high mileage bmw! BMW engineers state that high mileage bmw vehicles Must have a higher velocity oil rate to slow down oil burn due to engine wear! Fact!

I use on my m140i 5w40 shell gaz to liquid pureplus helix or liquid Moly températur 0 degree to 45°summer time
Do you think a LL01 oil protects more an engine than a LL04 ?
BimmerN53
Yes if your gasoline has more than 50ppm of sulfur
And yes if you oil change interval is beyond 5k miles
Anyone else use mobile 1 Ow40 for the 335i N55 F30
How’d that oil go?
i'm a new user of BMW E46, which engine oil is preferred
nope
Is it good to use motul 5000 10w40 on bmw f800gs motorcycle?
if my driving style is more aggresive, is it better to change my oil to 0w 30 from 0w20?
