I got the regular bondo because it said “metal” , watched this video and you said, “make sure is for aluminum, “back to return before I opened, after the second car store found one for ALUMINUM. Now going to repair my Shasta skinny skin. Much obliged Rob

I'm glad you caught it. Rebuilds are expensive enough as it is.

Thanks Rob, I appreciate that you stated to use aluminum Bondo! I may have used my car stuff and really regreded it. Con-tin'u-usly watching your excellent videos.

There are so many little things to be careful of each build.

Was just thinking about using bondo the other day on some larger dents. I had a small dent and hole on one side of my camper. A few years ago I patched the inside of the hole with eternal bond tape and then used some osi quad exterior caulk thinned down with mineral spirits. I spread it with a utility blade like bondo. Looks great and doesn’t leak.

That stuff looks awesome! But I kind of cringed when you didn't protect your lungs from the dust as you sanded it. Does the aluminum "bond-dou" provide a permanent seal?
My campervan was damaged by a falling limb that was 12 inches in diameter. It hit the corner of drivers side cabover. The frame of the camper is steel 1"×1" square tubing so it was not damaged but the aluminum roof tore.. I was able to pound it back into the correct shape.. I then covered the tare with the kind of tape that is used to put around the openings for doors and windows. Would that bond dou product be a good way to fix the tear permanently?

Its hard to tell without looking but it really isn't designed for big repairs.

Maybe you can put a metal patch, the use Bon do to smooth out the edge of the patch?

Rob, do you have a video or list of what primer you use for aluminum? Also, what paints do you use, ever use Rustoleum in bulk? Thanks

I use Zinsser bullseye from HD. I use Behr exterior paint from HD as well. I buy it by the gallon when I need it.

And that house paint holds up on the trailers? Thanks

For a large hole, how do you feel about riveting on an aluminum patch and leaving it exposed?

It saves money. I would put some roofing tape around the edges.

This was perfect for what I needed!
Would you use this on small holes like old screw holes too?
I’m not repainting the aluminum, any tips on getting a reasonable colour match to the old aluminum? Thanks!

It works on screw holes. Color matching bare metal might be tough. Good luck

Have you used this for cracks in the aluminum?
