The tan looking sludge is emulsified oil. There's moisture in it. It may just be due to the car sitting for so long. If you're not losing coolant then you're golden.
Seems like we're good to me!
Top quality videos, loved every episode from start to finish so far. Can’t wait till the next vid 👌🏼 don’t change anything just brilliant fella 👍🏻
You got it! Thanks a ton 💯
I'm glad there wasn't a cliffhanger. Dude, we're already all invested in seeing this car fixed to completion. After all, that's why we are here to start with! I hope you see there's no need for them, just give us a breakdown of what's next and that's all you need to do, we will be here!
You got it! Appreciate you!
Genius Mate. Cool calm and collected. 🔥🔥🙏
💯
Well done dude!!
Appreciate it!
I've been watching your channel forever. four five years easily. The MacLean is awesome, and thanks for sharing your journey with us! Thanks Ray
My pleasure, Ray. Glad you're enjoying the series.
Congratulations man!!
Cool bro. Moms is out there too I see helping you. It's good we stay close to our mothers as we get older.
I thought the same thing. Especially when his mom was standing there recording with her cellphone.
(that's my wife btw haha)
This car will always be one of the coolest cars in the world, there is nothing boring in these videos this is epic
🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
One of my absolute fav channels on any platform. LOVE your content and your amazing journey with this insane McLaren! The only problem... Im so darn impatient and can hardly contain myself for the next episode... Keep em coming, and Blessings to you your family and all your endeavours! ❤🖖☘
The PCC issue can sometimes be resolved once the air bleeds out of the system from driving it, could also be tied to the clock spring issue. If the problem persists after, I had the PCC issue with my 12C and did the typical replacing of the accumulators, that didn't fix it, so then I replaced the APMU (Hydraulic pump), that didn't fix it. Many hours later, a simple bypass of the hydraulic reservoir sensor with a piece of wire I had laying around solved the issue. The sensor in that reservoir tank can fail, I didn't want to deal with ordering one, so just did the DIY bypass and the car worked flawlessly after, PCC error gone! Awesome video as always, and can't wait to see this beautiful 650S back on the road!
Interesting! Thanks for the info based on your real experience! I'll get that spring replaced and do the SAS recalibration, and see what happens!
A little bit of smoke? Looks like you elected the new Pope in your garage lol! So nice to hear it fire up after all that work. You are going to have so much fun taking it on its maiden voyage!
Anyone who takes a risk and spends $38,500 on an unloved McLAREN and gets it running and looking like this deserves the joy of owning such a beautiful car 👍🏾💯%
This was a great series and I watched each episode. It was good to see the granular detail on a fix like this if you are contemplating something similar. I am not, but I like the detail, not to mention there might be something in these videos that is applicable to any car. Keep it up Inja, can't wait for the next one.
Appreciate it, looking forward to finally finishing it up. Got some other projects I'm excited for coming up!
Really pleased for you, hard work pays off👏🏻
Facts 🔥
Couldn't be happier for you getting to this point. Looking forward to the first drive.
Thanks a ton, man. Can't even imagine the feeling when it moves under its own power 🙌🏽
Doing a great job fella? Can’t wait for the next episode enjoying from start to finish keep it up Lee form the uk 🇬🇧 👍
Great series! Not sure how this series isn’t getting more views, you just never know. I’ve been there myself and it can be frustrating.
I'm sure people will enjoy the series for a long time to come. :)
It's a tad old school, and I haven't researched this for your car, but have you tried disconnecting the positive batt term and shorting it to the negative directly? Do it for around 20 seconds, and it should flatline all the modules back to the factory.
😂 yes it could do or it could completely fry it do it on the chip directly is better
It's a lithium ion battery so it would probably just damage the battery pack. 😅
@@TheInja how? Ok take the negative off the batt and just hold the two together. All it’s doing is discharging any residual charge in the electronics. Generally the worst case is, it may need a code input when reconnected. Naturally I would confirm it’s safe by someone with more experience with these cars.
@@staffs964 oooh I see what you're saying. Gotcha.
@@staffs964 interesting idea!
Awesome video and a great series! Thanks for posting! Most people reasonably enough have no idea just how much work you have done! I am working on an older Porsche (Complete restoration / rebuild) and so many of those task you think are going to take a few hours can often take so much more! This car you are working on is so much more complex than anything I am working on so.Kudos to you!
Appreciate you brother! Hope the Porsche is doing great!
I'm super proud of you!
Means a lot brother! It has been a project of sheer willpower to this point!
I wish the best with the car. I’m sure it’s going to be SICK when you get it done.
Been realliy enjoying this series. Cant wait to see it rolling down the street
Just a simple comment, I can see and also I feel you are very blessed to have your wife with such passion give you such huge support , it looks so fantastic, your patience in this video is so much noticed, and deserve the rewards both you and your family, good luck and God bless.
Appreciate it, Frank. 💯
Great job👍🏽keep up the great work.
Very happy it turned out well for you in the end people don’t realise the gamble you have to take if you’re not a hugely wealthy TH-cam’er doing a project like this.. top job 👍👍👍🙏🇬🇧
Congratulations brother, it's coming together very nice, 👍 from Detroit michigan 💪
Going to look amazing with the body panels on soon 🙌🏽
You've stayed remarkably positive throughout. So happy to see the car cooperate.
Yeah, huge blessing. 💯
The car looks and sounds amazing
Happy to see where you started and now started to car! Gave me tears to eyes 😅
Great job man! Honestly the oil didn't look too bad. When flushing an engine oil WILL come out darker, because the flush breaks down all the gunk and carbon buildup inside the engine. And that little bit of milky oil that came out of the filter might be just condensation from the engine. Engines do suck in some moisture through the air intake. Not much to worry about
Appreciate it. Seems like it's a runner to me!
Loving the series. Man, you’ve got vision and courage to spare. Much respect! ❤
Just to be clear about bleeding brakes, I believe the sequence is determined by the location of the brake pump. Start with the brake farthest away from the pump and finish with the one that’s nearest. Congratulations thus far, by the way!
Got it! May need to bleed the brakes again so I'll do it that way next time. Thanks brother!!
Looking forward to seeing it on the road
Congratulation!
I'm a bit concerned about the milky substance in your oil filter, but I'm hoping for the best. Don't call your videos is boring, it's super exciting to see your progress, and I can't wait to see you driving this thing.
I knew you'd get this build going, your determination is very admirable and always positive demeanor second to none! But I had no doubt you could do this. I've always found that if I really put my mind to doing something, I always reached me goal! My grandfather used to say "Life is 99% perspiration and 1% inspiration! Work hard, work smart and get it done. I'm so happy for you bro! It really is coming around and I think the oil flush was a good idea. It can't hurt really so ...... WHY NOT right? I noticed too the subsequent start ups sound much much faster, better and proper. Keep up the great work in True INJA style Bro. Your fan from NYC
Your grandpa was a smart man. Much love, brother. 👊🏽
Thanks he was a great man. Lived through the Wars 1 and 2 the Great Depression was only educated till 6 grade as he needed to help family. He’s dad passed very young. Later became self taught and well read! Damn I came back to find a lot of critic. Simple thing if people don’t like your channel don’t watch it! You run it now you want. I’m into Ebiking and I click on some reviews and the person is as charismatic as a lamp post lololol I then switch to one I like. No neg critic to give. Just be you bro. This cars needed a boat load of parts and TLC. The only project going on where the guys even more devoted is Tavarish with his Flooded McClaren. It’s crazy how he strips it down like it’s an 80s Civic. You’d never know it’s such a high dollar car
Watching now but cool to see it start and run😊 Hope the engine is ok after all the work.
Same!
Good job bro 😎 nice project
Lotsa work! My heart is with you❤!!
🙌🏽
Dude.. that dream car, I think, BARELY deserves YOU❤
Carry ON😊😊😊!
Nice. Happy for you. Have you watched the LSC videos changing that clock spring? Alex had some problems with that too...
Yeah just did!
Definitely happy for you, was awesome hearing it run, but you need to do just a video replacing the clock spring and getting most of the faults cleared...that is kinda a cliffhanger for us watching for sure...lol
niiicú! Thrilled too see this soon finished
Well done, I was nearly sure that engine was toast looking at that oil. You definitely won on that.
For sure. Could have gotten really sketchy really quick. Pure luck on that one.
Another great vid bro! I think the clock spring cross references to a Nissan part from memory, that will save you $$$
Love the long videos!
Good to hear! Will keep them coming!
So excited for you brother! Can't wait for the next video.
Appreciate it! We're so close to driving this thing!
@@TheInja jealous!!😁
the peanut butter most likely from condensation from sitting.
Hoping so. Thanks for some reassurance! 👊🏽
Yep, seen that before.
Me too! All these people saying things like head gasket leak or stuff like that, yeh are being caring, but honestly it's fine! That original oil before was absolutely the worst, just a couple of engine flushes and you will be fine, you will be surprised actually how Little water it takes to make old oil milky, what you had there was probably a drop or two of condensation in the engine, the filter caught it, and you replaced the oil and filter anyways, so you're fine, just go easy on it for at least the first 50 to 100 miles, then do another oil and filter swap, and that engine will be perfect!
But yeh, still do them spark plugs as soon as you can, yeh they are a pig to get too, but soooo worth it! I bet the gaps on them are huge! Going by its lack of service history lol
@@fieldie 1000%! Thanks brother! Great tips. 👊🏽
Great video and sounds great. 👍👍👍👍👍
What a sweet deal, I can’t wait to see the car rip down the road!!! Sweet color too
Same! Going to look incredible very soon with all the bodywork done!
Love your videos. I've been watching you since the first ebike you got and always great stuff to watch 😊
Appreciate that, thank you! Glad to have you for so long!
That car worthy to buy it because is very nice that car. Looking amazing car 🚗
Great news 👍
Thankfully it sounds like a healthy McLaren so far. The codes sounds like they're going to be expensive to fix some of them but I'm sure it'll be worth it in the end... just remember after sitting for so long, these engines maybe so powerful they can hurt themselves (according to Tavarish's blown engine experience) Until you get upgraded rods and stuff.
@17:03 a little bit of sick just came up there
Props on the progression......finally 😊....may want to look into spark plugs as well? Im glad the car found proper love❤❤❤
For sure. I think I'll need to get new ones, even though I didn't want to have to 🥲
👍Sounds great,love it !👍
Inja you could try the mercedes on your scan tool as mclaren where renound for using mercedes modules also when manual bleeding start with the rear oposite to your steering wheel then the other rear then oposite front then drivers front start up smoke can be caused from over fill of oil in dry sump cars so recheck when engine is hot to check the turbo's see if there is any wiggle in the turbo shafts or check the inlet hose to the throttle body's for oil but usually over filled oil and it only has to be by a couple hundred mils the milky spot in your oil filter housing will be from condensation from sitting the coolant air purge you should jack the front of the car up and then use a vacuum bleeder for the coolant matt armstrong has a video on his mclaren but good to see you getting there with yours cheers from down under
Hi just wanting to ask ??
Isn't the engine a dry sump setup with most of the oil in a tank???
Maybe I've been missing something in the way you're filling it with oil.. I've seen you drain from the engine but not the dry sump tank which actually holds most of the oil???
Other than that been enjoying your build progress on this one and have watched your channel from the early days of motorbike purchases ... Keep at it they're great to watch,
The cliffhanger’s brutal 😅😅😅
This build is looking awesome Inja.
Can't wait to put the body panels on and have it look like a real car again 😭
@@TheInja yeah me to, I dont like red however the color of the car is gorgeous.
Outside Jay Leno’s Garage mechanics you likely have more McLaren knowledge than the majority of these owners. A great series; Bravo dude!😎
Looks good, sounds good. Kudos to Swag!!! The Power behind the thrown, taking care of business so you can tackle the big projects!!! I don't know if my wife would suffer me having so many projects laying around....
Haha! She's the best. Just let's me do my thing with all the support in the world. 💯
@@TheInja I had a Suzuki 80's G series fad and I had like 15 in the garrage and my wife went out with Pen and Paper and did an inventory....Now I"m down to my 2001 fatboy and 73. Sporster and 2 electric bicycles
No cliffhanger ending, phew!
I love that series and your attitude, your energy! By the way, not sure of the differences between McLaren generations, but Alex from LegitStreetCars fixed some of the issues you're describing with Nissan parts instead of expansive McLaren parts on his MP4-12C. Might be worth looking into that. Good Luck!
Yeah I've been substituting every part I can with cheaper, exact match parts from Mercedes. McLaren partnered with Merc and most of the modules and sensors are Merc!
After changing the engine oil, you should check the oil level immediately!!!
Dam, would love to hear that supercharger “pop”…😊
Congrats man
Glad to see it running well. Dont put yourself down if you make any mistakes though, end of the day youve rebuilt a McLarean single handed , not many people have .
Cheers mate
Your mom looked surprised you finally got it started.
Mclarens electrical gremlins are a nightmare. I sold my 570s because of how poorly the car was put together. 6/12 months broken and maybe a total of 4 weeks of driving. Good luck
200 other people probably have already mentioned this; and it’s already been figured out, but that fuel door is a 1.50 latch from Nissan. Legitstreetcars channel has a video about this exact issue.
@@Ankeneering actually hadn't heard this before so huge help! Thanks dude!!
BRAVO! GOD BLESS YOU!
👍🌞👍
Thanks dude!
Great job
I think it would AWESOME if you contacted Tavarish and if he came to help you figure out a lot of your issues. He has done a bunch of the things you are doing.
Awesome bro 💪
That little gremlin that put the bolt in your hub making you think a stud wash sheared off also unplugged the steering pump? ;) JK. Loving this series! Can't wait to see this thing on the road complete.
Haha! Could just be! 😆
Appreciate you dude! Looking forward to that first drive!
Just be persistent. Youre doin great
Frickin’ unbelievably sweet❤❤❤❤😊😊
That schmutz in the oil filler cap that looks like fudge is from condensation and unless it is excessive fuggetaboutit!
Well done.
Aren't you supposed to bleed the furthest from the fluid reservoir first? That's always how I have done it.
This McLaren sounds better than the current F-1 McLaren. Today's F-1 cars sounds like loud hair dryers. Nothing raw and aggressive about them anymore.
Try scanning when it's running when everything is powered up and try to erase codes.
I just caught one of your videos as a TH-cam recommendation. I binged through them and you really did a great job. As a constructive comment, you do get a little winded with the explanations but it’s not unbearable so I don’t understand why all the bitching. I’m a new subscriber bell ringing and look forward to watching you other playlists. Good luck with the McLaren! 👍🏻👊🏻
Appreciate it! Noted!
These revs are Soo good but you definitely need some good exhaust for this beauty to make them revs perfect
For SURE
The vin number should tell you or the paint shop the paint code. at least when I went to autobody school in 1993 that was the case.
Yeah BUDDY! Git that whip!
Let's gooooooooo
But did the Autel clear the codes on the cup holder?
😂 seriously frustrated when my Starbucks cant ride safely.
So when you go to the gas pump you just have to remove the liner and remove 3 screws each time? Sounds easy enough.
Hahahaha
@@TheInja Most English cars have a simple locking pin that goes through the gas filler flap for security, it's not just about fuel theft its also to stop people putting stuff down the hose that shouldn't go in there, it should just unlock with unlocking the doors, if it doesn't then it is just electrical fault, id say a fuse blown or just get a voltmeter out and check to see if the pin lock is getting power on door unlock!
Hi mate - I enjoy your channel and wish you well. I'm not sure if you know that your "Build your dream" slogo is actually the same as China's BYD - just be careful, incase they have a legal claim on it. Hopefully not. Good luck!
The prices of these cars are dropping like a rock now. I just saw a clean one go through auction with some miles at 65k with zero issues especially the electronic gremlins in some of these.
I haven't noticed them going down, but I guess haven't kept up super thoroughly.
@20:20 INJA cool sunglasses. What's the name of that brand and the style name of those frames?
I have one question I'm taking off several airbags and I've never cut the wire even if I did have a bad clock spring just took a tiny flight screwdriver popped up the clips and they unplugged right out. Why didn't you do that
Check the oil level on the display put your foot on the break press the gas
Yep, I actually tried that but couldn't click past the PCC fault degraded message, so couldn't actually check it. Cut it out of the video since it seemed like irrelevant information for you guys.
@@TheInja Even if you have an PCC fault, you can enter the menu and check the level. But the oil temperature must be at least 180 degrees
@@TheInja bring that thing back on the road 🤙
Sounds sweet as
Like the old rims
Did you try closing all the doors and the hood, lock then unlock them but leave them closed. Then pop the gas cover?
