Yep, unfortunately it is... Obama may be a lot of things, but he's polite and can understand subtle differences. While it's enough just to observe Trump's facial expressions, in various situations and on different days. There's no subtlety there, just like in the way he talks.
I already miss him and we still have a day to go before he's turned over the keys. I hope he plays a large part in rebuilding the Dems for a counterattack to take back the House and the Presidency over the next 4 years.

and Bernie had very little name recognition in the early primary states. You can see what was going to happen when you compare Hillary rallies to Trump rallies. The majority wanted Clinton, but it was not enough of a landslide majority, the self assuredness was there but not enough enthusiasm. They coasted in and only got a 3 million vote majority, which was not enough to get over the electoral college gerrymander.

I think it's the lack of transparency and dialogue that makes people feel like that. I don't know if that's any help to you, but we still managed to live well during Socialism. Some 30% of what makes a life good was taken away from us and it was terrible, but we still did have those 70%. Humour, hobbies, families and friends meant a lot.

Colbert had no idea what we were going to be dealing with at the time this was happening. He, like all of us, thought that Hillary would be our next president. Not as cool as Obama, but certainly not the nightmare we are living with now... The Obama presidency was very special for a lot of reasons that transcends politics. The entire Obama first family was a bright, shinning light of optimism, grace and unity. And I believe, for the vast majority of the country, the fact that they were the first black 'first' family quickly faded. They brought morals and ethics to the White House. They may have not done everything right - what president ever has??, but Obama and his family carried the office with dignity and made us proud to be an American. The world respected him and us for having the courage to vote him into office. We were on the path of breaking boundaries that no other country has been able to. And now, it's all come crashing down. I don't even know what's going on - struggling daily with it all. Doesn't make sense to me - to go from what we had to what we are dealing with now. The ugly underbelly of our society has reared it's disgusting head. Maybe this had to happen. Can't fight an enemy you thought didn't exist. Now we know. Guard was down - now it's up. The people of Alabama recently proved that good will always conquer evil. Now that we know how much evil still exists, we will conquer it.

jack williams I think the point that he's making is if it were the old bandleader Paul Shaffer who was white (and also annoying although no one really mentioned it....) you would have not said that *white* guy is annoying just that guy or his actual name. You don't need to point out that Jon Batiste is black for us to know who he his.
What's wrong with describing people by their color? I used to argue with black people: you guys can say the white lady over there, but it is wrong if I say the black lady over there. The response always was: it is different! ¬¬
How is is different? We need to stop being so stupidly sensitive. Using a color as description it is not meant to be offensive, it is meant to be a way to separate from the rest. Same as apples: red, green, yellow... Jon is black, period.
