Hi guys, I enjoyed this start on your health journey. I started mine 7mths. ago after reaching 280lbs (20 stone in UK terms). I signed up to a slimming club and have so far lost 77lbs. I've cut out, bread, butter, fish & chips, 90% of the chocolate I used to eat, ice cream and 90% of the potato I once eat. I still have 'treat days' and about 3-4 fast days a month. The big changes are more energy, waist size now 35" from 52" and I don't sweat so much. At 70 years old I feel I'm ageing backwards right now. Good luck with this channel. Love to the family.
That's amazing Frank! Wow, great job. It's not easy to break those bad habits that most of us have. Congratulations! We're really looking forward to continuing to make some positive changes and bringing people along with us on this channel. Please keep us updated. I'd love to hear how things are going down the road as you continue your journey.
Ohhh I need to do a health journey too! I need to come along with you guys. I just put my fitness watch on after 5 years of no exercise and I need to get back to better health.
I’d love to see Lindsay cooking up some American foods. Or you guys travelling and explaining historical stuff from your local area. Or you guys doing a family food shop and looking round the supermarket/farmers market with you guys, or what your growing in the garden, and what you might make with what you grow.
Seconded! I've never been to the middle of the US (well technically I have - had a brief meeting in Chicago but that doesn't really count) so would love to find out more about Illinois, YOUR history (just as interesting), YOUR stunningly beautiful places and your way of life and how it differs from the UK. I had the chance to move to Seattle (to work for Microsoft) in the 90's and my (very psychologically abusive ex-partner) would not move abroad. It was an opportunity of a lifetime. I should have gone anyway as I absolutely love the countryside around Washington State and Oregon. The weather is SO British 🙄🤣 Actually you still have far more sun
@@joannecunliffe8067 I’m sorry you were psychologically abused by a partner. I know what that’s like. But at least that person is no longer causing you trauma. Sounds great. I know nothing about different places in America and I’d love for more TH-camrs to film their towns/cities cause I love history, travel, and I grew up watching so many American shows. 💕 That sounds like it would of been a great opportunity for you, but the grass is not always greener on the other side. So maybe it was something you look back and think “I should of done that”, but maybe if you had, you would of sacrificed something in return, life can be like that. I could of taken a job at Cambridge university back in the day, but the way students and the world is now, I’m very glad I chose not to at the time.
@@jessieb7290 No, and you're absolutely right, Jess. I haven't told you the really horrible parts of my story because I still can't for my own safety - I was gender dysphoric as an infant (certainly 6-7yo or younger) but that was the 70's so no opportunity to transition. I'm now about 1/2 way through transition (4 years so far) - should have done this 30 years ago. "Je ne regrette rien" as Edith Plaf would say. I've had 30+ years working in IT in top companies (especially Linux + AI) but am now recovering from a lifetime of CPTSD, bullying and other stuff. That's why I said it was important to look after mental health as well. I didn't! I could have left my wife (at the time) but I clung on "for the sake of our children" and now I have lost them too. That's OK. I would rather be on my own but now having plenty of friends I can trust and who will look after me. I'm quite feminine and I need "L" plates. My latest botch-up is doing eyes - oh I'm just dreadful at mascara or make up (except foundation) 🤣. It's fun and at long last, I feel safe again (and happy). I'm a silly mixed up Jo (from Jeanne D'Arc - Joan(ne) of Arc) but enjoying every moment of it 🥰
I have been on a pre diabetic diet. Very simple really based on portion size. Half plate veg or salad 1/4 meat, fish, eggs or other protein. Another 1/4 carbohydrates. No processed food and whole meal bread. And a thumb sized portion of butter per meal. It’s very healthy. Not really any fried food grilled is better. My favourite breakfast is two soft boiled eggs with a round of whole meal toast buttered, or a bowl of porridge.
That's awesome, I'm glad you found something that works well for you. We recently did an elimination diet for 100 days, we'll probably talk about it soon, but one of the things I noticed is that I don't do very well with wheat. I can still eat it, but it seems to cause enough issues that I'll probably limit it.
In general, we Brits don't have fresh fruit on the same plate as fried food stuffs. We (sometimes) do eat them in the same meal, but usually at the end of the meal as a palette cleaner rather than a part of the main meal. Edit: added the word FRESH
Well I guess it depends. My mum was a nurse and always gave us fruit on the side growing up. My brothers French girlfriend (when she first met us) was like you’re so weird having fruit on the side with a sandwich. But I just see it as good nutrition.
As you have access to raw milk you could make your own luxurious fresh mozzarella if you wanted to. It is very easy and takes an hour or less to go from raw milk to finished mozzarella (it can be done in 30 minutes). The whey that is leftover from making the cheese can either be used to make ricotta or other whey based cheeses like brunost alternately it can be refrigerated or frozen and used in baked goods in place of water next time you are baking. it really improves the taste of things like bread as well as adding a lot of protein. Many other uses for whey too and videos on youtube to give you ideas for using it.
looking at your beef patty pic, we do a very plain dish, white rice, ground beef, and peas and a lil bit of butter when we plate it. its really so good even though it's plain
Great first video :) I think it would be fantastic to see LIndsay cooking some of her homemade meals, but I'm happy just to watch anything you guys do!
Hi guys! Loved this first video and will now binge watch all your videos! Can't wait to get to the Ranch Salad and Smoothie videos I can see coming up, Mind I am also looking forward to you showing us around your area. Thank you!
Thanks Kathy, we've been so busy lately that we had to take quite a break from this channel, but are planning on moving forward with new content starting tomorrow. :)
Enjoyed the Recipes ,food look delicious and different for a change, thank you for sharing this video, My health is on going so some of these recipes will suit me well, 😊
It all looks really good! Yeah lots of folk here have a gluten allergy, You can get gluten free stuff but its mad expensive. Lindsay's cooking looks lovely, the eggs especially! Like the streaky bacon you guys get, always think its tastier. Oooh the pizza! Yes please for a cooking lesson, Lindsay? Good luck with the new channel, looking forward to it.
This new venture looks fascinating! Really looking forward to seeing different sides of your life! This run through of typical meals was really interesting. PLEASE give us a recipe for 'ranch'. We can't typically get it in the UK- and if it's available it's likely to be a very processed version.
Thanks Caroline. We'll try to film a video for ranch sometime soon. I'm surprised how many people are interested in ranch considering it's not big in the UK.
@@steveandlindsay I think it's precisely because we have no access to ranch dressing and so many Americans rave about to that we want the chance to taste test it!
Hi Lindsay and Steve, some lovely looking meals. If you add some crushed meringue to your strawberries and cream it makes Eton mess one of my favourite desserts.
Hi guys, I have followed your other channel for a while now, and checked out this video today which was a good watch seen as I'm the one who cooks in our family. We do a weekly meal plan, which helps to restrict what we buy on a grocery (food) shop one a week, as you get the ingredients you need for those meals only. So this week the menu has been: Friday - Chicken Skewers/Kebab - so cubed chicken on a kebab with chorizo, mushrooms, red onion and bell pepper - the chicken was marinated with chilli, garlic, lemon, oil prior to cooking. I did a Pineapple Salsa with it (pineapple, coriander (cilantro), red chilli, lime juice, crushed garlic) and some potato wedges. I used some of the pineapple juice on the skewers near the end of cooking. Saturday - Lasagne, with a side salad and garlic bread Sunday - had a BBQ with grilled meats, sausages and salad (with the remaining pineapple salsa!) Today - Chicken with Gnocchi. So we will grill the chicken off, then in the same pan fry off some onion, bell pepper, garlic, add some vegetable stock, then a touch of cream. We will then add the gnocchi (which will have been browned off in a separate pan as I like a bit of a crispy edge to my gnocchi) and then the sliced grilled chicken - finished with some grated parmesan and chilli flakes. Tuesday - Remaining portion of Lasagne with salad Wednesday - Stir Fry - we use Turkey steak in our stir fry, just as an alternative to chicken, and keeps it healthy. The turkey is literally fried for around 2 minutes and removed from the pan to keep it moist. Thursday - This is normally a quick dinner with the kids at soccer training, and dancing, so it will be a baked potato with a filling of some description - tuna mayo this week. I have a note section on my phone full of dinner ideas etc, and we rotate through them on a weekly basis with some new things, or variations along the way
Good luck with the new channel, I’ve been watching a TH-cam channel called Celebrating Appalachia and have fallen in love with the cuisine, I’ve made cornbread and biscuits and gravy from scratch, delicious, that bacon and egg on your breakfast looks lovely, all your dinner meals are just what my family eat, we buy organic foodstuff and get our beef from our local farm, they also have a herd of Jersey cows and sell raw milk
Love the new channel just as much as the Roots one!! Nice to see you guys, your vids do brighten my day, especially because we are still waiting for summer here :) Take care both
Lindsay - for a variation on the cream - we make mascarpone cream 🤤 much richer flavour - equal parts mascarpone and double cream, caster sugar and vanilla bean extract to taste 🙌🏼 you usually need less in the bowl - but sooooo yummy! And has a beautiful mouth feel! Well worth a try! Then that can be another cheese that Steve might actually like! 🤣🙌🏼
Hellooo Steve & Lindsay congraz on your new channel came over from the awesome Live you did on your main channel i cant wait to see what you both get upto on this new channel ty guys very much 👍🏻👍🏻😀😀😎😎😍😍😱😱
I’d love to see a video in that farm shop you mentioned you use for eggs etc. I do wonder if in the US it’s cheaper to eat junk food / fast food than buy ingredients, whereas in the UK it’s cheaper to buy ingredients and cook for yourself. Your diet looks superb btw both in nutritional value and taste, but I kind of expected that after interacting with you and seeing your PO box openings.
Thanks Man, we try to keep our foods at home generally clean and whole for the most part. It's the habit of eating out that is the main culprit for us. Those fast food burgers and seed oil fries are definitely not the best. lol Of course all the delicious chocolate and biscuits have to be consumed in moderation as well. :) It's definitely cheaper to eat junk, processed foods here, that said it's now became very expensive to eat fast food, which is honestly a good thing. It makes it less appealing. It's generally not the taste but the convenience factor that drives it most, at least for us. I personally prefer clean, whole foods and I'm lucky Sophia does as well. Except she has the largest sweet tooth on the planet, but she loves fruit so that helps. We don't have a farm shop locally, we generally order milk, eggs, etc from the a local farm and they meet us in a parking lot. lol Sounds sketchy, but it's not, they meet everyone that orders at the same day of the week to make it simple. Our meat comes from a different farm and we could pick up at the farm, but they deliver to our door so we usually just do that. We do have a farmers market, but we don't go every week. Lot's of Amish farmers around here. You might be referring to our "health food" store. I can't remember if I mentioned that, but it's good for clean shelf stable goods, thinks like wild caught salmon, etc.
Hi Steve and Lindsay, I am looking forward to hearing your recipes for the gluten-free scones. Good luck with the new channel. Sending love from Bonnie Scotland 😊❤🏴
We'll have to keep that recipe in mind to try and make a video for it soon. We do have a video going up in the morning for homemade ranch dressing as quite a few people have been interested in that. Thanks for stopping by. ❤️
Morning all from the UK , may be we put poregoats and berry compot. I have pancakes as a treat with compot and yogurt. It's such a GOOD I dear,do some recepis. I GO to work for 11am ,so the latest I eat is 9am . I do watche your other channel, AND I watched your crisp vlog yesterday, take care and all the best .😊😊😊👍👍👍
Hi Steve & Lindsay , been following you other channel from waaaaay back lol , nice that your branching out and your subscribers are going to love the getting to know you . The meals look very healthy , more so than my English fry up i have on a weekend , not sure about having fruit with meat , might give it a go . as a preference i like sweet and sour food as in the chinese version . . P.S i also love Maple syrup which i get sent over from Canada from my cousins
Hi Steve and Lindsay, love your second channel, have been watching your other channel for well over a year, I would love the recipe for your pot roast, especially as in the uk we don't cook ut like that. Thankyou for a more close up personal channel 💖
Thank you, Rachel! 💜 We will definitely try to share the pot roast recipe in the future--although it is quite simple, but recipes like that are always my favorite.
Hi guys, yes definitely bigger daily portions. If we have brunch out, it's a special treat so portion are similar to yours. You should look into white rice, it's not good. The production means over processed and I saw a report it's high in arsenic, I can't tolerate it at all. Usually ends up in a trip to a&e if it's been hidden like rice flour. Lindsay my aunt was a fabulous home cook & you remind me of her & her husband could make delicious meals from leftovers. His infamous in our family anyway was cheese dreams. Dip your bread into your beaten seasoned egg ( French toast), once one side is cooked flip. Then add cheese to the cooked side & put the other slice on top, cooked side near cheese and flip till cooked. Our French toast is savoury, no sweet nonsense. I was horrified the first time I went to Denny's & they served it sweet! I'd love a video of the farm shop you get your stuff from.
I enjoyed seeing your meals. Made me think of my mum, as we would also talk about what meals we had eaten, what we were cooking that night etc. You might like shakshuka, which is eggs cooked in a tomato-based sauce. Healthy, quick and tasty meal.
❤ Been watching the live and this episode this afternoon. Both are awesome. Will be hard to schedule with all the parcels😂. I had to rearrange my money, my doggy needed an operation. And had to let him go last wednesday, so my parcel from the Netherlands will take longer. 😢You can only spend once right. There's a Scottish guy living in Asia who did some Dutch food, very funny to watch. Till next time.
Thank you so much. Your dog passed away? I'm sorry to hear that. I hope you're doing ok. We've never received a package from the Netherlands, that will be interesting, but please don't feel rushed.
Hi both if you love cream and strawberries well just add some broken up meringue and mix it together and you have a delicious dessert called eton mess yummy and good luck with your newest channel love UK ❤
I have been watching your other channel for a long time but never comment. Always nice to see people so interested in our culture here in the UK. Happy to see this new channel too. Will be good to see more of how you guys live too 😊😊😊
The ranch dressing you can buy in the UK is rank, so I now make my own seasoning and mix it with mayo and homemade yoghurt, I have it with everything 😊
Waitrose do one that’s meant to be good but it’s not cheap as I doubt they sell much. Apparently most Brits won’t buy dressings if they split in the bottle and need a shake, but the ones that stay combined are full of emulsifiers etc. so the ones that split are best, even if they don’t look it.
This was so introspective! Really enjoyed getting an insight into your meals vs. reactions to our meals. I’d love to hear Lindsay’s sausage recipe if it’s not a secret 👀
Hi Guys , I definately need to eat more fruit I love vegetables but struggle with fruit for some reason , its important to keep your gut healthy as that can affect everything . Your health is your wealth I always say 😊❤
Don't I know it (coeliac)! Also, as your gut also has a surprisingly large number of nerves (almost a mini brain in itself), it can affect your thinking and bring on depression if your gut is unhealthy.
For me currently crunchy nut cornflakes not sure if you've tried those or porridge for brekkie. Sarnie cheese or chicken salad lunch though I am addicted to flapjacks 😂 dinner might be chicken and vegs or pasta meatballs. I'm from Birmingham 3 miles from Bournville and the Cadbury factory
I love the healthier approach to food and making your own wherever possible. Glad to see you haven't completely cut out one major food group. Do you make any of your own household cleaners or buy more sustainable, less toxic ones such as those with natural ingredients plus refillable containers? These tend to be more expensive but then so is better quality food, i suppose. I have used baking soda ( bicarbonate) , white distilled vinegar and lemon juice before as a cleaner and even the vinegar at higher concentrations mixed with salt and washing up liquid (dish soap)to make weedkiller ( doesn't get the roots though). These types of formulations are much cheaper than ready-made chemical versions but often not as effective generally. Would love to hear your thoughts on this topic. Keep up the good work, you two!
Thank you. We don't usually purchase any cleaner. Just baking soda and vinegar for the most part, except for dish soap which we purchase a more natural type. I'll have to remember to make a video about this as well.
I love watching your videos on your other channel so I'm looking forward to getting to know you both more on this channel. Sending love and support from the UK 🤗🇬🇧
Hey guys - Steve, did you make Lyndsey watch the "banned food additives" video? It's all about your kid, being the best you can for them + that's a brilliant motive. I don't know, I think if... different things for different people + find what works for you, but was told a light breakfast is good as it starts your digestion working + knocks on to metabolism too. Might be a "wise/elder" type-tale, but it works for me. Those breakfast plates look pretty wholesome, maybe "portion control" could be a touch better, but I'd happily eat that + maybe save the sausage/waffles for a treat day/weekend. Definitely be cool to see all 3 of you cooking 👍 Steve, you got to learn to cook! Those plates look mostly reasonable and tasty. I know it sounds a bit jarring, but Exercise, early in the day, doesn't have to be much, walk around the outside of the house as many times as your comfortable upon waking, then light breakfast, then on with you normal day. See how that goes.
I don't think she's seen that video, but she's finds that type of thing interesting so we'll probably dive into some vids like that soon. Lindsay and I have definitely gone back and forth on healthier eating, but we've always made sure Sophia eats a healthy diet as it's so important. We know what to do, but those bad habits are sometimes hard to break. Completely agree with you about exercise, get it done early and no matter what happens in your day at least you got that win.
21:23 Just cant get the maple syrup, meat fruit combo (It def must be a Brit thing). Youre very luck to be in the 'Sunshine State'& have an abundance of fresh local food. All our fruit (except apples/ pears, berries) are imported & thus not so fress & expensive. Most people in the uk, esp in north, are vid D deficient due to the weather. Dont forget your omega oils guys for your heart & your bones. Oily fish is the best source.
I wish we were in the Sunshine state, I used to live there, but currently in Indiana, which I also like, but we have brutal winters here. I never knew people in the UK didn't do many sweet/savory combos until recently. It's so interesting how flavor profiles change so much depending on location. Even on pizza I love meat and pineapple. 😄
@steveandlindsay I'm so sorry I thought you were! Ham & pineapple is a bit of a UK pizza thing actually... but it is a bit of a marmite issue - either love or hate! xx l love your videos btw, you two together are especially great, like yin-yang. Keep up the good work!X
I'll try to make a video about that at some point. Currently I eat in around a 8-10 hour window. Some people struggle with it, but it comes quite natural to me.
@@steveandlindsay That’s interesting. I started intermittent fasting on the 18:6 window. The only problem I now have is that I’ve lost my appetite! I have to force myself to eat one meal a day! 😂 ….. I make it my meal at around 13:30 hrs each day. Admittedly I still enjoy my morning black coffee. Good luck with your health regime. Like yourselves I prefer gluten free products. Strangely enough, the gluten in the UK affects my digestive system badly compared to the gluten in some of the other European countries, so I can sympathise. Best wishes.
I am going to look for mini loaf tins as soon as this ends, I make meatloaf (after watching stuff from the US), but never thought of doing mini ones! 😮
@@steveandlindsay my family love meatloaf but I’m the only one who makes it, even though I’ve told people how easy it is, and how adaptable. I took it once to a party, where everyone took a dish of something, and it was the first dish that got all eaten. I’ve ordered some mini loaf tins already haha I went straight on to Amazon after I subbed here😍
We have TV doctors here in the UK who make a special study of what foods are not good for us regarding heart health and now Cancer. It has been found that any processed food and in particular processed meats are NOT good for us with the added sulphates etc. and it is linked to Bowel cancer in particular. It has recently been proven that a 5/2 diet is very beneficial, that is to fast for 2 days out of 7, only taking in 600 calories on those 2 days. The doctor who has been on our TV`s for many years, sadly and tragically died while on holiday in Greece recently, the extreme heat being indicated in his cause of death. Dr. Mike Mosely was a pioneer in healthy food consumption without being preachy and always tried out his ideas on himself first. Please look up his programmes, you may gain some insight into your healthy regime. A truly lovely and down to earth chap.
Yes, Dr Michael Mosely was a truly lovely guy. I learnt a lot from watching his programmes and reading some of his books. Such a tragic loss for his family. RIP Dr Mosely.
It's so important to look after your own mental and physical health (which are intimately related) and your diet - enjoying watching your journey. Had a skin problem over the last few years and just discovered it was vitamin B deficiency! What! (I eat LOTS of veg/fruit). Now taking B spectrum vitamins (to recover) and eating a LOT more broccoli, avocado, tofu and Marmite (vegan) + other things. I discovered I was a coeliac in my 40's (my sister (coeliac) nearly died as a baby as UK Mums wean babies on Farley's rusks which are wheat) so had horrific tummy problems (and pain). I now cook my own (very yummy) bread from chickpea flour + make my own soya milk (US recipe) ❤ Jo x
It's amazing how much of our health is tied to our diet. So happy to hear you've recovered from your skin issue and I'm guessing quite a few other things have improved as well. We're looking forward to improving quite a few things in our lives, we know what we need to do, it's just a matter of making those changes and breaking some bad habits. Thanks for following along on our journey. :)
@@steveandlindsay It's been a privilege to follow your channels, Steve and Lindsey, it really has. You are so good at showing, demonstrating and relating things and just come across as utter naturals on TH-cam. Your caring nature shines out of everything that you do. That's why your first channel took off so well - and of course your enthusiasm and joie de vivre is why so many people follow you. Thank you. It cannot be easy to keep up the pace whilst having busy lives yourselves. You do this whilst keeping Sophia safe from too much TH-cam exposure which other channels do not (I'm afraid). @@EdsCanineAcademy i wanted to become a vegitarian as a child but just 'gave in' to keep my family happy (I thought). Done that all (EDIT: dylexia/spellings - grrr) my life to try to keep othrr peopke happy. I lived on a dairy farm as a lodger (just after uni, working at a defense company in Somerset) and seen the suffering (the farmer was the loveliest person inaginable). I left the defense industry later as well for moral reasons. I am Buddhist primarily, not vegan so 'least damage'. If you offered me a meat meal I would eat it (unless from horrific suffering like veal) because otherwise I would cause you to suffer (just as Suddartha Gsutama is supposed to have done - Buddhist are told to be skeptical!) but if I made you a meal, it would be vegan (unless that hurt or offended you). I eat vegan myself on a day-to-day basis. There are plenty of B vitamins in Marmite, tofu, advocad, sunflower seeds, brocoli, almonds and so many more. I'm also coeliac (gluten intolerant - genetic) so I need more B vitamins as I don't absorb them as well . I have no problems with people eating meat as you can see but choose not to do so myself (as a preference) - hugs from Jo.
Looks great the only difference as a Brit watching, we don't have fruit on the same plate as meat and vegetables, fruit is usually a separate thing. The only thing I've ever seen meat with fruit is Parma ham and melon. You should try brown basmati rice instead of white rice its a game changer much nicer than just general brown rice. There is no goodness in white bread or white rice, I do eat some sour dough for the fermenting benefits but I always buy brown/wholemeal, xxx
How about pineapple on gammon,or on pizza, then there is sweet, and sour everything in every Chinese takeout. What about sweet chili sauce put on so many items.Britain, now eats a lot of sweet, and savory together. It may not be a piece of fruit, but it’s often something made with fruit, one,in my opinion really strange combo I saw was cottage cheese, and pineapple on a jacket potato.😊
Maybe they can save them for Christmas 😂 but actually going “cold turkey” is actually worse for you then having something bad every now and again. Based on new research.
I'm interested to follow your health journey, i have lost 70lbs over the last few months and have taken up running and lots of walking and feel SO MUCH healthier (and happier). My husband is also gluten free so your gf baking will be of interest too 😁
9:19 you guys mention making sprouts - 🤨 How? What are they? As a brit, if you say sprouts I would think that you meant a Brussels sprouts. (Related to the cabbage family, traditionally eaten at Christmas. ) But also good luck with this new channel. I'm definitely interested in the gluten free foods as my mum has coeliac disease and I'm interested in the different sugars as I've recently been diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. ❤
Hi Hannah thanks for the well wishes and sorry to hear about the diabetes. As for gluten free foods we'll probably do some recipe videos in the near future. When we were talking about making sprouts we take certain seeds and sprout them to create micro greens which are very nutritious and taste great added to lots of foods such as salads and sandwiches. I'm sure we'll do a video about that sometime as well.
I love rice in sushi with veg. I usually make too much rice. I freeze some for curries, the rest I’ll add boiled cabbage onto and drop over some soy sauce. Steve you would love avocado tortilla chips. We have those here; sorry to mention on a healthy channel 😂 I’ve always loved ranch. 😋 always have and I’m English!
@@steveandlindsay I picked some up today. I love them, although I know I shouldn’t eat them. A treat is good every now and then. They’re guacamole flavour. So it’s hard to describe the taste, but they’re so flavourful.
Steve I watched a program that explained why we are now having trouble with wheat flour, if you can find the original grown flour from back in the 1800’s it has not been corrupted like the flour we buy now. But one of the things she said that has not been corrupted was Buckwheat flour, and I know that buckwheat pancakes are delicious. Please try them and let me know if you enjoy!!
Very good point. Few seemed to have issues with wheat until the last generation or 2. It makes sense it could be the wheat type. We'll have to look into the buckwheat. Thanks for the suggestion.
A lot of your breakfast meals seem very ketogenic which is great for your liver! I’m trying to cut down on carbs as they give short bursts of energy followed by fast declines and are the main contributor to excess fat storage (carbs convert to glucose which converts to fat when not used as we all eat way too many carbs).
Coeliac here! I had a suspicion this was where this was going. The US food particularly is over processed as you know. Gluten Free options...with the exception of getting an Italian gluten free pasta skip it and make it from scratch. I never bother with the gluten free options other than Trader Joes in the US.
My daughter had bacon, egg and banana/blueberry pancakes on same plate for breakfast when we were in San Fran, and we had to queue for it for 10 minutes !!
Whenever I have been to US I've been shocked at how much maple syrup and sweet stuff in general is eaten and processed food!! You seemed to be bucking the trend. I am diabetic and have a diabetic grandson who is also coeliac, so as a family, we are food aware, and have lost 3 stone - 42lbs. This has been interesting, thank you. Nana Karen UK
It would be cool to see you make and try and make English/French type pancakes with butter, light dusting of brown sugar. Some poeple add lemon juice other add a small bit of cream ans strawberries.
You can get crepes in many of the breakfast type restaurants in the US,even get sugar, and lemon. The breakfast restaurants do Yorkshire puddings,as in toad in the whole, with apples in place of sausages, they call them Dutch babies, corruption of the German Deutsch.😊
I subscribed straight away as I am always on the lookout for new dishes especially when they are suitable for diabetics. I noticed that so far you don’t seem to include any fish, either fresh or canned in your diet which I would recommend as a source of healthy fats and protein. I accept that you don’t have the sea on your doorstep but things like canned salmon or sardines in olive oil should be reasonably easy for you to find along with tuna steaks for a change, but not a lot of it as it does have a bit of a reputation for having fairly high concentrations of heavy metals in some species but a little bit now and again doesn’t do much damage, especially if you look out for line caught fish as opposed to trawled fish. It’s a good idea to try Sophia to try a bit of fish too for the Omega oils that they contain.
Thanks for subscribing Andrew. I do eat Salmon occasionally, but Lindsay doesn't like any fish. I eat quite a bit of grass fed beef, which has a decent amount of omega 3s. Not as much as certain fish, but enough to cover my needs. My goal is to generally not consume a lot of omega 6, which means needing less omega 3 to balance the ratio out.
Well, I usually have scrambled eggs or spaghetti hoops for breakfast (get a can for 19 pence which serves 2 meals). Next meal usually about 4pm, usually baked potatoes, or vegetable bake ( mixed greens, carrots, mashed potato topping topped with grated cheese). Occasionally, have a tuna sandwich. That's it for me. Don't really like fruit so I drink water with lime juice cordial. I'm pretty cheap to run.
Strange seeing fruit on the same plate as savoury. It’s like having jam /jello with peanut butter.. never tried that. Mashed Avocado with salad cream… now that is good!
Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches were a staple of my childhood. Absolutely delicious. Also, pb and banana sandwiches. I love sweet and savory combinations. Can't go wrong with a meat and pineapple pizza. :)
I have been watching UK videos, and I have found it difficult to believe how much sweet chili sauce that is being put on meats in the UK these days, and pineapple on gammon, and pizza, and sweet apple things with pork, and baked beans which are sweet all over a Full English, when I was raised in the UK we never ate sweet, and savory together, and in all my long years in the US,I still don’t eat sweet, and savory together.I don’t eat most American breads as they are too sweet for me,baguettes, bagel, and rye breads are okay as they are usually sugar free, now I see brioche buns everywhere in the UK.😊
I never use oil when cooking. I use good old fashioned Lard or Goose Fat if I'm doing potatoes. what does Ranch Dressing taste of/like? as it isn't a thing outside of America. so it would be great for Linzi to do a video on it. you missed a couple of bits out of your daily eating ... biscuits with your tea and chomping your way through all the chocolate. lol
We agree not using oil is the best. Love using butter, ghee and some others. Lard is great too. Ranch is such a unique flavor, it's hard to explain. We'll have to make a video showing how it's made. It is true we've been eating quite a few biscuits and chocolate the last few months. lol

That sounds like it would of been a great opportunity for you, but the grass is not always greener on the other side.
I'm a silly mixed up Jo (from Jeanne D'Arc - Joan(ne) of Arc) but enjoying every moment of it 🥰
@@joannecunliffe8067 Indiana I believe.
@@emmsue1053 Oops (*blush*) 🥰
@ you could be gluten intolerant. See how you do with gluten free. You are a lovely family. I love the way you are open to trying new things.
Yes please for ranch video
Woo hoo, I'm with you Lindsay, love potatoes at breakfast 😊☘️💜
In general, we Brits don't have fresh fruit on the same plate as fried food stuffs. We (sometimes) do eat them in the same meal, but usually at the end of the meal as a palette cleaner rather than a part of the main meal.
Edit: added the word FRESH
I totally get that. During the winter we tend to have less fruit and more savory.
Well the scottish do part of our scottish fried breakfast is fruit pudding dont think it's very healthy but def has fruit in it 😂
Well I guess it depends. My mum was a nurse and always gave us fruit on the side growing up.
My brothers French girlfriend (when she first met us) was like you’re so weird having fruit on the side with a sandwich. But I just see it as good nutrition.
@@jessieb7290 On the side, or after, yes, but not fresh fruit directly on the plate with eggs, bacon etc.
@@steven54511 yeah true. I’d sometimes get a small pocket of raisins too 😁
As you have access to raw milk you could make your own luxurious fresh mozzarella if you wanted to.
Food looks delicious 😋 I’m hungry now 😊
looking at your beef patty pic, we do a very plain dish, white rice, ground beef, and peas and a lil bit of butter when we plate it. its really so good even though it's plain

So this week the menu has been:
Friday - Chicken Skewers/Kebab - so cubed chicken on a kebab with chorizo, mushrooms, red onion and bell pepper - the chicken was marinated with chilli, garlic, lemon, oil prior to cooking. I did a Pineapple Salsa with it (pineapple, coriander (cilantro), red chilli, lime juice, crushed garlic) and some potato wedges. I used some of the pineapple juice on the skewers near the end of cooking.
Saturday - Lasagne, with a side salad and garlic bread
Sunday - had a BBQ with grilled meats, sausages and salad (with the remaining pineapple salsa!)
Today - Chicken with Gnocchi.
Tuesday - Remaining portion of Lasagne with salad
Wednesday - Stir Fry - we use Turkey steak in our stir fry, just as an alternative to chicken, and keeps it healthy. The turkey is literally fried for around 2 minutes and removed from the pan to keep it moist.
Thursday - This is normally a quick dinner with the kids at soccer training, and dancing, so it will be a baked potato with a filling of some description - tuna mayo this week.
I have a note section on my phone full of dinner ideas etc, and we rotate through them on a weekly basis with some new things, or variations along the way
Sounds like you all eat really well! That's an awesome meal rotation. :)
Thank you. That's awesome. I'll have to check out the channel. I love that type of food. :)

Thank you so much. Appreciate it!
It's definitely cheaper to eat junk, processed foods here, that said it's now became very expensive to eat fast food, which is honestly a good thing.

Hi guys…. Came over straight after the live ❤

Yay! New channel 🙌 Congrats guys 😁🎉

Oooh, Recipe for homemade Ranch dressing chef Lindsey, please!!!
I don't blame you. The homemade stuff is so much better.

Thanks Jay, glad to see you here.
I love ranch dressing, please give us your recipe.
Will do. We'll try to film that sometime soon.
Thank you. Love to you as well. :)
Hi. looking forward to more food LOL. God Bless Y all. Lou.
Definitely be cool to see all 3 of you cooking 👍
Steve, you got to learn to cook!
Could you talk more about your intermittent fasting? Really enjoyed this new topic and look forward to seeing more on this channel.
I'll try to make a video about that at some point. Currently I eat in around a 8-10 hour window. Some people struggle with it, but it comes quite natural to me.

That’s interesting.

It's great for leftovers. I bet using tins for it would be great, but Lindsay just shapes them without tins. We'll have to film that at some point.

Is 'sausage' without a casing just minced meat with some spices?
Yes, ground pork with seasonings.
Would love the muffin recipe please.xx
We'll try to do that soon.

Enjoy the next parcel when it arrives (and the contents are just as quirky as I am!) Jo x
Meat eggs and dairy contain the b vitamins! And much more bio available
Have you done a video of Lindsay making the individual meat loafs please
We need to do that. I'll let her know you asked about it.
Nice one guys
Curious to see how you are going to pull off a healthy eating habit with all the goodies you get from us in the UK lol
Maybe they can save them for Christmas 😂 but actually going “cold turkey” is actually worse for you then having something bad every now and again. Based on new research.
lol While it can be difficult, I think moderation is key.
(Related to the cabbage family, traditionally eaten at Christmas. )
But also good luck with this new channel.
I was thinking.. sprouts for breakfast??? 😝😂 Mind you, bubble & squeak (using sprouts) with bacon for brunch is good. All that food looks so good.
Would love to see lindsay's recipes def the ranch and I'm sure steve said in a vid that she makes a great breakfast sausage
She does. Her sausage seasoning is simple but delicious imo. Ranch video will definitely be coming up.
I love rice in sushi with veg. I usually make too much rice. I freeze some for curries, the rest I’ll add boiled cabbage onto and drop over some soy sauce.
Steve you would love avocado tortilla chips. We have those here; sorry to mention on a healthy channel 😂
I’ve always loved ranch. 😋 always have and I’m English!
I'm sure I would enjoy the avocado tortilla chips. Yum
Thanks for the suggestion.
brilliant, still miss ranch dressing.....
That sounds good 😋
Whenever I have been to US I've been shocked at how much maple syrup and sweet stuff in general is eaten and processed food!! You seemed to be bucking the trend. I am diabetic and have a diabetic grandson who is also coeliac, so as a family, we are food aware, and have lost 3 stone - 42lbs. This has been interesting, thank you. Nana Karen UK
That's amazing Karen! Congrats on the weight loss.
It would be cool to see you make and try and make English/French type pancakes with butter, light dusting of brown sugar. Some poeple add lemon juice other add a small bit of cream ans strawberries.
That sounds good. We'll have to keep it in mind. Thanks
Is an instant pot what we would call a pressure cooker?
You can slow cook with it, but it's a multi cooker, you can do a ton with it even make yogurt. We love it. :)
Good luck from South Wales UK ❤
Thank you :)
It is true we've been eating quite a few biscuits and chocolate the last few months. lol
I would love you to put recipes on this channel and also watch lindsey making things as well
We definitely plan on doing some recipes from time to time. :)
