Thank you for uploading this. I was honestly wondering what the beam spread would be like in our housings. Our 9007 bulb design and their reflectors leave much to be desired.
At my Career Center in highschool we (Electronics & Robotics, Collision & Repair, and Automotive Repair) were given the task of equipping a CVPI P71 for our towns PD. It was a blast installing the hide aways, light bar, upgrading the spotlights, and doing the led headlights. The PD used the car in parades mostly and it sat in the PD lot clean and shined almost everyday to show off. It wasn't used in the fleet and they had a decal that said "This vehicle was built by the local ISD." Damn, doing all that work made our classes proud. And getting to see the Police Chief's face as it was driven out of the AR garage was priceless. It was early 2000s model (2004 possibly) that needed lots of body repair done. Loved that thing
so... the moral of this story is that the local police department, who likely bought the car with tax payer money at a huge discount through the department of defense, also basically used slave labor to install all it's flashy toys, but you guys were stupid enough to not even realize you were being exploited... wow. child labor is illegal without compensation and consent from a legal guardian.
I have had them in for a week now, they not only look great they work great in rain, dust, and heavy snow. Street signs are 1000 times brighter and easy to read from a distance. I did rotate the bulbs so the high beam LED is faced toward the bottom of the lens. I have not been flashed once either. Awesome buy and if they last me a year I will be stoked!
I want to apologize for a comment i made back when. I watch all ur episodes and i enjoy and grow from ur content. Im man enuff to admit that i underestimated u and didnt realize ur knowledge on Crown Vics/ Grand Marq. So please understand.🤙🏼
I bought new housings, installed led bulbs(torchbeam, $50 Amazon) and they were very bright, but didn't direct the light well at all, I got flashed constantly, got pulled over too. So I put stock bulbs in until I found a HID retrofit kit($140 Amazon) and not only do the projectors look ridiculously cool in the housings, but they direct the light perfectly with a sharp cutoff. I can see better at night than at daytime, almost anyway, they're that good. Look into em if you haven't yet, absolutely amazing and it's less than an hour install, super simple, and won't blind anyone. Look at pics online of vics with projectors, and LEDs just can't compare, the hid projector is just next level. My friend aimed his LEDs down to avoid getting flashed/pulled over and that mostly worked(although the LEDs still throw major light all over the place), but aiming down helped until the LEDs melted his housings. Yeah they get that hot so make sure you have a set with good heatsinks or fans is even better. Yes many led bulbs have fans, they're that hot. Better yet, go with projectors, it'll blow you away how well they light the way and they look amazing in the housings, day or night!
Met a mechanic who works on Ground Equipment. Was swapping out headlights after work one day and he walks up and notices I am struggling with the bracket. Instantly takes out the headlight bulb through the access port behind the bulb. Thats what the big hole is for behind the bulb so they can replace it at the dealer quickly. The more you know!
Thank you for this. I almost hit a steer in the middle of the desert highway art 70 mph the other night because my Vic lights are so dull out here in the AZ desert.
I installed some HID's on a truck behind projectors. It was so stupid bright even when I aimed them far away from the left lane it would blind people bad and piss them off. I could see signs that were miles away on the horizon lol. I had to remove them, I just buy good bulbs now.
I bought the Cougar Motor fanless LEDs for my 2001 Crown Victoria. They don't have screws under the red gasket. You just twist the plastic base of the LED light and the back end with the fins comes off. You still have to take the LED bulb out from the base to get the larger holder ring to fit on the new light. The red retaining gasket on the new LED was thick and very hard to push into the light fixture. I put some vaseline on the ring and that allowed me to force it in. It took longer than expected as the instructions are minimal and don't pertain to your particular car. I will be testing them tonight. Just wanted to comment that the new fanless LEDs from Cougar do fit, just a little difficult to do.
Isn't it illegal to use an LED bulb without installing a projector meant for LED bulbs? Simply putting an LED in a housing that's meant to spread the light of a halogen bulb gives the wrong effect.
Excellent video you don't always see people actually noticing the aim very often. Commonly just a look at the color tone and maybe against a door. Do you have a video of them after adjustment yet.
Glad I saved this on eBay they sent me a 15% off on anything. Took advantage a got then sent to me. Just installed them today and damn what a difference..... We have all been deprived of good lighting, folk you need to buy these. Thanks Mr Random.....
They may be safer for you, but not for everyone else. That's one of the main issues with modern cars. I'm not old enough to drive yet, so obviously i don't own a car, and my family is basically too poor to get anything other than lemon 1980s and 90s cars with halogen lights, but other people with modern cars basically blind you on the road, for a brief moment you can't see much, which is very dangerous.
Not true. People with OEM LED headlights that are considerate enough to turn off their high beams for you at night do not blind you. If everything is at factory setting then it shouldn't be blinding.
It's really all about how they're aimed. If they're aimed correctly, you won't have any issues with blinding people. However, if they're aimed even a little bit too high, people are gonna be flashing you left and right.
i cut out a piece of the housing part with a small adjustable hand saw. its tricky to do but it works for the aftermarket led lights. did it on my voyager and ima do it on my merc
I just bought them from the link and they are not the same, plastic doesn’t twist off of bulb it’s screwed on and the connectors don’t match up very disappointed you made it sound so easy now I’m sitting here holding my headlights having to put it all back together again accomplishing nothing
i'd use pliers instead of screwdriver to remove the metal clips on the back of the headlight and i'd unscrew the bulb before trying to disconnect the electrical connections, just me tho

Lawrence Anderson I installed auxbeam golds. Better LED headlights have glair shields, and the CVPI has glair shields in the housing. The CHP hasn’t pulled me over for running them, and it’s been over a year. My crappy BBODY assemblies don’t even have shields.

Dear Mr Random. I'm seeking your help. My 2009 Crown Vic slips out of third gear. It SKIPS third gear. The mechanic, a veteran police car mechanic, cannot figure out what's wrong. He's unlinked the computer. No codes. No 'check engine' light comes on. Have you ever encountered anything like this with all the cars you've worked with? I have a bad feeling a mouse got under the dash and chewed something. But But this only happens AFTER the transmission has warmest up. Transmission fluid is PERFECT as he's had it apart several times to check internals and change solenoids. Please help. Other than THIS ONE PROBLEM, this car is perfect. Brand new A/C intercooler installed in front of the radiator.
I hope it's not the transmission itself, but it sounds like a tranny failing. Luckily it's not a hard or expensive job if you find a good used transmission and they're not hard to locate. Last one I bought with 80k for $200 and that trans was still strong at 170k when I sold it. I believe you want a 06+ transmission as they made slight changes and improvements, that is, if you need a transmission. A good mechanic in a shop can swap these transmissions in a couple hours. Takes me 3-4 in my garage at home with car on jackstands and is a pain with so little room on my back, but it's easy with a lift and proper equipment. Please let me know how it turns out for you. I hope you got it fixed!
I've had my interceptor for 1 month and had a catastrophic fail. This. CAR still has the fire suppression system intact, minus the fuse. Also have the original key fob no door or trunk key. Anywho, 400 mile drive, 1 mile from home lost all interior power and trans started slipping out,, airbag lights came on ,won't start battery almost dead. Any ideas?
I tried some other branded LED headlights, they were brighter, but they didn't control the beam very well, so I got a lot of people flashing their highs at me. I went back to standard bulbs. On these, did people flash their highs at you much?
I was 16 when I got my first crown Vic and nobody was really is it but a lot of people and DC in Maryland back then was buying the crown Vic the most it just seems like now everybody's hopping on the crown Vic wagging I figured I better get one before they all gone because it ain't many left and
8:52 Were those the high beams? It looks like the high beams are barely any different than the low beams. Is this because they are incorrectly aimed too far down? You should post some pictures/videos after they are properly aimed. Also, how sure are you that this isn't blinding oncoming traffic? You should also have a friend in another car come your direction on the road and see if it blinds him (after they are aimed).
Bought two vics and both have the headlights so low the high beams look like normal headlights gonna adjust them surely this week and might get this upgrade
Also I noticed in one of your other videos you got a hard on over the transmission lock where you have to press the bulb on the floor? I can send you one if you want it.
Love the push bumper on your crown Vic bro, any way you can do an install/review video of it? I have the same exact one and can’t find any info online about it
Well I'm sold. Do they make these for the spot lights? I run a large amp, will these help the flicker from the gem not liking the amperage fluctuations?
I really blew it. My 2001 Vic had super yellow lights at night it was bad on low beams. But being a fool I drove cross country to San Antion after driving 12 in El Paso we saw a Motel Six got off and went back to when I was exiting the freeway I was looking for the Motel. The street lighting is very shady there I ran the Vic over a center divider bent all 4 steel wheels . What a nightmare Cost me $1200 new wheels & tires. But the Vic is a tank did not even through it out of alighnment. DON"T drive with faded headlights. Love My P71
I'll pass, thanks. Last time (4 months ago?) I tried led headlights in my cv I couldn't get anywhere near the output (the beam pattern was complete shit) I was hoping for. Tbh it seems as though yours isn't much better. Aftermarket led headlight bulbs just aren't there yet. I only drove my car 700 miles last year lol.. and I'm wishing somebody would just rear end me already and total it. I'm not willing to spend any money on it other than what it needs, even if it's only ~$40.

Mr random I’m such a huge fan, I have no idea how to adjust my crown Vic headlights is there any way you can make a video for that?
i sure will and thank you for watching my vids👊👊🙏
Mr Random Reviews thank you so much. You’re literally my favorite TH-camr. I’m all about my crown Vic. Just ordered a partition and headlights and the stark led bulbs and I’m watching your videos to install them all but now that they are in I can’t adjust them! Hah. But thank you so much and I look forward to the video!
awesome brother welcome to the family
HELP! My headlights don't unbolt like yours did.... Don't know what to do....
Where to I get that brush guard?
your head was moving to much,
Anyone else see that he repeated him self perfectly in the beginning?...
All of us are guilty of doing this as we get older!!!! Lol
Anyone have a link to the light? And do we need to buy the regulator?
Do the LED get brighter when the high beam is activated or no?
what’s the name of that push bar?
Hands down best youtube channel for CVPIs! A lot of the channels are weenies droning on about their CVPI without actually saying anything useful. I've gotten more good information from this channel about my "Big Vicky" than anywhere else.
Wait! ✋🏽
I though u said this was a super easy job! Hahaha !
Y’all get some Auxito LEDs
I don't need that. I love my crown vic because it's my dream car!
Same Here. Best car ever made👍👍👍👍
Fckn great. Nice helper !!
Why put a cold air intake in your vic?
Can we get a link to LVCP, can't find him.
