Eric Ouellette Do you have 180lbs of dumbbells in your trunk? The heaviest marquis weighs under 3975 lbs so you have to have a lot of extra weight in your car
Choosing the right cam and headers will get you more power for less money than this list. +20 for a tune on a V8 engine isn't that great. The secret to cheap speed has always been weight reduction and gearing. I could easily get this car down to 3,000 lbs without even trying. Add some 4:10 gears, you'll have a much much quicker car that handles a ton better and stops alot better too. K&N filters suck, you need an actual Cold air intake to benefit from anything like that.
@@phenom4023 remove the sound deadening and insulation under the carpet. Then ditch the spare tire and jack. Could replace the front seats with lightweight racing seats. That's about it for the interior without making it look bad. The real weight reduction is under the car and the hood, along with fiberglass front clip. My first weight reduction mod on any car is a/c delete and sometimes power steering delete. On some cars you'll even gain a few horsepower that way, but not always. Lighter wheels are a huge benefit too, if you are willing to spend the money. I'm just scratching the surface here since there's alot of weight reduction tricks you can do without making your car look bad. It's basically free horsepower and it improves the life of your engine too because you are moving less weight. The key is to figure out what you want to do with the car and how far you want to go with it.
Dude, you are so off. You could get it to 3k lbs, huh? Even if you removed the entire engine it would still weigh over 3k. These cars weigh 4,100 lbs, boss, taking a spare out and putting lightweight wheels is moot point. And 20 hp for a tune isn’t a lot? Dude, what are you talking about? That is great for a horsepower:price ratio. “K&N filters suck, you need a cold air intake.” The crown Vic comes with a cold air induction box already. A k&n filter would flow much better than a paper filter. You just seem to be talking without any real data about these cars.

Just so everybody knows the 16v 4.6l V8's top out around 400-450 horsepower before you blow your bottom end so you may want to consider engine swapping or a serious engine rebuild if you're thinking about throwing in a twin turbo or something insane. You could rebuild it but the whole engine would have to be rebuilt with forged internals and a forged block.

I would argue reliability. The ultimate value of these cars, and why there’s so many still around, and why they’re so cheap, is reliability. Cops could ABUSE these cars for just years and then sell ‘em off for $900 so some Donut fan could grab it and beat the wheels off of it for 5-6 more years, only to turn around and sell it for $2k to someone who just needs a ride to work for the next ten years. Not only will it last, it will last while you beat the snot out of it. Make it go a little faster, might make it break faster. Meanwhile, the car is predictable due to a perfect weight balance and all that. So, the fact that the car is predictable means that you see very little diminishment to returns for developed skill. You could get WAY faster in this car just DRIVING it, than trying to squeeze hp out of it.

@purritopoe4842 doesn't matter if he lives in Texas or not the clutch pedals and fabricated drive shaft needed for this build to even work is over 800 now add in transmission clutch flywheel, quadrant linkage, and ECU flash needed... Try closer to 4k than 400...

Smaller pulleys with a spare belt to swap to when I want to have the most of it on the pedal. I went with an inch wider tire on the rear and I run mid 13s pretty consistently. 13.417-13.710 were my highest and lowest times since the current build was finish. As for the 4.10 gears, I looked into replacing my 4R70W instead of just putting a rebuild kit into it, but...
If I drop a 6R80 in to replace it, I get a much lower first gear, with closer spaced ratios all the way to a .69:1 6th gear, so I still have overdrive for low-rev highway work. It costs a lot more, but at least I don't have to worry about my warranty expiring!
Would do to upgrade it to a 3.73 rear gears with E-Locker from a newer F-150 with a 5.0L with a 10 speed auto.
I’ve actually priced both options out, for the trans, controller, wiring harness, driveshaft, ujoints, tuner and credits for a 6r80 swap vs the 5 speed and everything involved with that, it’s about the same price. But, the 6r80 definitely be quicker.

The 4.10 gears should be paired with a limited slip differential if your car doesn't have one factory.
How much for Cam/Headers do you think?.....Cheers
How u get rid of weight without taking away interiors looks?

Where did you get that front bumper. I need that.
You can actually run 4.56 gears also without issue on the highway. The transmission’s overdrive is so tall that it’s still putting at highway speeds
