    Dang nice find it actually looks to be in pretty good condition. Favorite saw i own pulls like a truck and easy as they get to work on. I'd do a muffler mod and call it good they have plenty torque right out the box. Definitely loctite anything that don't need to come off regularly cause they vibrate a lot. Lucky they have a great AV system so they aren't bad to run all day. 100$ is a steal the cylinder alone cost few hundred bucks and it will probably still last a lifetime maybe throw some rings on it if it feels tired when you get into some wood.

    • @oakiewoodsman
      @oakiewoodsman  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Great tip! If I am going to tear into the top end, I will be sure to measure the squish first and see if it is a candidate for a base gasket delete. I am thrilled to have this. First one I have ever seen in person and I happen to own it! You are probably correct about it lasting my lifetime. It will need a bit here and there but I cannot imagine me putting too much time on this bad boy all that often. Who knows, maybe I will use it more than I think I will?

    • @zack6892
      @zack6892 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@oakiewoodsmanoh yeah if your comfortable doing it I would absolutely do base gasket no question. Rings, gasket and some basic port work like opening up lowers intake and exhaust. Even without changing any port timing you'll see a pretty big gain on a saw like this. Add a decent muffler mod and you'll have an absolute beast of a saw that will last forever with good fuel and tune. Personally the 395 is a go to saw for me lot of guys say they are too heavy but with a light weight bar it don't feel much more then a 70cc saw to me with a lot more torque. I'll grab my 395 on hardwood 20" diameter or more and maybe 30" for softwood. Based on your video I would value it around 600$ as long as the cylinder isn't scored at all and everything is original. Just for perspective if a guy needed clutch cover, recoil cover, gas tank and cylinder it would run them about 600-700$ for oem parts.

    • @zack6892
      @zack6892 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@oakiewoodsmanas far as being an EPA saw I'm pretty sure it will be with a mfg date of 2016. Easy way to tell pop the muffler off and look in the back you'll see the baffles. I've read any blue choke lever 395 is an epa saw but don't know about that.

    Buy the snap-on t27 & 4mm
    t-handles they’re not that expensive and are excellent, pretty much can build a whole saw all brands with those 2. The 5mm is for Husky exhaust bolts, and drivers to use on drills and 3/8 impacts are nice also. But the T-handles are most value and used in my experience with saw repairs.

    • @oakiewoodsman
      @oakiewoodsman  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks for weighing in on this. I have been wondering about that. I was thinking about purchasing the ICON set at HF so I could have the Torx, SAE and Metric T handles. I like having sets of stuff if I can I like how the HF warranty works. I do however have concerns about damaging the head of the bolt too..... I know my favorite #2 Phillips is a. Snap-On. Thank you again man!

      I thought about the ICON set also, at the time there wasn’t many options. I bought the t27 & 4mm for like $12 bucks each. Have used the crap outta of them and still good. I’m not a snap-on guy unless for speciality tools.
      That’s funny because I buy the bulk pack of #2’s from hf and have had to trash after one screw.

    Good chance on these area in the tank with glue is just a little patch for a busted tank. That clutch cover is fine in my opinion, I run a lot worse ones consistently. The case wear is fairly common. And I’d leave the cosmetics as is, if your gonna use it having scuffs scratches dings dents and cracks is normal, the only thing I’d saw is get a brake rebuild kit (even though most of my saws don’t have chain brakes) it’s a pretty good saw though and for 100$ you can’t complain. Last thing when starting a saw like that for the first time in years i pour some gas down the throat of the carb and with NO. CHOKE pull it over while giving a little throttle

    Love working on Husky’s, I would not recommend aftermarket clutch cover. Repaired a couple rancher 55’s and made the mistake of using an after market with brake flag what a pain in the but!!
    You’re getting very good at saws, only other thing I would have checked is the spark & plug with that breakdown.

She does the restocking of the roadside stand. I think I am just going to repair the brake band on this one and send it! No sense in getting too crazy on this saw. I wanna get some time on it and see what she needs first.

      Oh I thought you wanted to replace it due to the cover.
      I bought an aftermarket rancher 55 cover/brake/and safety flag.

    You already know I would've paid that for it! From what I saw in this video, you practically stole it for that price IMO👍🏻 definitely got some hours on it, but seems to have life left. If the prices aren't astronomical, I prefer oem, but I see no problem with going aftermarket on parts for a personal saw that likely won't see more than a few hours use a year.

    Joe, do away with the decomp or try cleaning it getting rid of the carbon in it or replace it. I think it still maybe low on compression and think it could use a new set of Caber (a brand) rings, maybe even a piston. My reason for replacing the piston is because it looks like the bottom of the skirt might be worn thinner. It's discolored towards the bottom of the piston a little. A base gasket delete will raise compression too and open up the muffler. Compression maybe low because it was falling to the ground when you did the rope test.

      Thank you for watching and sharing! In your opinion, is 1800 euro a good value for a saw like that? How much is something like a 500i?

      Thank you for the responses. You must like the 395 over the 592XP and the 500i then. Thank you for sharing and watching!
