This channel and commentator obviously know what they are talking about. I appreciate this type of non-biased evaluation. I just upgraded my JT based on this site's recommendations. I am happy with the results. Thank you!
You'd think we are not able to think for ourselves. The overlander experts here are the same way. Do what makes you happy I say, it's not my money. :-)
About the repairing the windshield, I recently bought a Jeep and it has a small spider crack in the bottom of windshield, everyone’s been hassling to get it replaced even though it was fixed so it won’t grow anymore by it’s self. Thanks for backing me up guys.
Great video. I'm new to Jeeping. I purchased a used 2021 Gladiator Sport, and 2 months later (last week), I purchased a 2021 Wrangler Rubicon for my wife. I learn so much from this channel. Thank you!
Yes replacement parts for the Jeep is out of this world you either get cheap trash or good quality expensive stuff unless you're talking about the lift for your ride then you have to go back to what you are doing with your vehicle and what you can afford I am on my second front bumper and got a good rear one the first time but looking back I should have 3 link long-arm it then go to coilovers when I can now I'm paying twice for a bunch of things
@@CaptainRudy4021 Had a buddy with an EAG bumper that also had the finish flake after about a year of light road diving. I would try sanding off any rust plus the rest of the factory finish and applying rattle can bed liner. Raptor liner has really great reviews.
@@Plinian it's been on my list of things to do but I don't have the time nor the means to remove the bumpers and paint or line them myself and I don't have the money to pay a pro.
do you realize how many jeep owners never go off road? they may not know local trails, not in a jeep club, can't afford off roading, whatever, they still love thier jeeps. mall crawling is a privilege and promotes jeep sales and accessories, so why the attack? are you so cool that mall crawling is a bad thing? i replaced my OEM grill with a semi angry face, as it was the cheapest option to blackout my front, i guarantee you, my jeep is cooler than yours, angry face, 20" rims an all.
I drive a hummer. I try my best too make sure every mod makes sense over all. I do some things for looks but most of my mods are practical and done right.
Worst mod I did on both Jeeps was RSE step sliders. Both sets failed miserably back when we still daily drove our Jeeps and happened during light offroading. Out $5000 for them plus install fees. Then more money to have real sliders welded onto the frames. Live and learn.
+1 on the HCOG issue. If you have a gladiator then you have the really great option to mount a tend over the bed but below the roofline. I can’t understand the desire to have a full height rack that puts the tent in the wind and raises your cog. Even with the tent mounted lower there is still ample space in the bed area and the goal should not be to fill that space with excessive amounts of gear (weight) anyway. With almost every vehicle the easiest way to increase performance is to decrease or minimize weight. Overloading compromises stability, handling, power and fuel range. Then you end up needing to throw more weight on via fuel etc to offset the compromises.
Thanks for video. Because you asked, I got the MOPAR grab handles and found them in local stock during Feb 2022. Was happy to find them. So far, they're holding up great.
You break the hooks b/c you don’t use them right. You need a Kinetic recovery strap. They are pricey. But chump change compared to a trip to the emergency room
I paid $55 for a 35k pound kinetic strap… same brand we carry on the ambulances at work so I know it’s trustable. The shackles mine came with are only rated for 9k pounds but 1) my truck has hooks that are rated for more and 2) I hope to never have to use it
I’ve absolutely buried my Jeep to the point it got suctioned to the earth in a mud hole. I used the factory hooks to get yanked out and had no issue. No deformation or issues with a f350 tugging hard from the other side
1 comprehensive coverage. 2 open hooks are for quick easy pulls only and save a ton of time for that, but solid point on using these hooks for heavy pulls. 3 roof racks do need to have their weight limited. I want a pop up tent and a place for my traction boards! 4 solid point. Like all things do your homework. 5 yeah, I'm diesel so the 37"s are great. I'm lifting a little more but frankly I'm not sold on going to 40"s though my diesel Rubicon can likely handle them.
I owned a 1972 Ford Pinto - the fire defect was overblown. Lots of other small cars at the time caught fire when hit by a much larger vehicle and the fuel tank ruptured. The Firestone tires, in my view, was a much bigger safety hazard that Ford and Firestone hid for years.
Hold up best mod I see so far….. what is that spare gas tank mad that fits perfectly on the side of the bed of the gladiator. That is soooo dope!!! Please if anyone knows how to get this done? What’s the name of the mod? Please reach out. This is outstanding!!!!
Hey Jorge! Totally agree! That is one killer mod and unfortunately, it is still only a concept idea that Jepp rolled out in the Wayout version at Sema. Not quite available yet
Can’t imagine paying much for a new windshield. I’ve destroyed a few driving behind 18 wheelers on the highway or drifting tandem off road with a friend. 100$ at the glass shop and they’d give me a whole new windshield, or 40-50 and they’d patch it. Never knew people had an issue with glass repair costs
Worst mod... RotoPax plastic gas cans. At least here in the S/W where it's above 100 deg. They swell up, leak and fade. Go steel, and not China steel. Wavian is the best.
Worst mods? 1. Cold air intake... it’s all lies 2. Turbocharged or Supercharger ,,, on a Jeep? 3. Body lift,,, you’re not fooling anyone 4. Low profile street wheels. Nuff said 5. “It’s a Jeep Thing” tire cover. Don’t make the rest of us look stupid.
I own a lifted 97 XJ love it. I run 31X10.50R15 tires. Well at the place I work a kid came in with a non lifted stock 91 XJ, sadist one I ever saw that still ran. He had us install the same size tires on it. The good news was they didn't rub the bad news was there was maybe 1 an 1/2 or 3 in of clearance above the tire (if that). One speed bump, tall curb or bump in the road for that matter an the tires would hit the fenders.
Glad my state has replacement coverage for cracked windshields with no deductible, just in case. They don't need to know how it happened either. By the way, what bed rack is that JT running?
Not replacing a broken windshield because it’s just going break again doesn’t make sense. Don’t replace worn tires cause they’ll just wear out again. Headlight bulb blew… it’ll just happen again if you replace it. Wouldn’t consider a new windshield a “mod” either.
Why not just make a slider for some plexie glass you have a bracket that goes on each corner of the windshield then on one side you slide the plexy glass in then clip the other side on, So the plexy glass protects your windshield while your on the highway or go off road. MMM That just a thought :) Buddy never had a problem with a 2 inch kit and 33 inch tires I think he went down to 31 inches at one time but he did take it out on a army vehicle course and tore it up said he didn't have a problem said the TJ drove like a tank! :)
Ohh, & for grab handles I've got a set that are made out of woven para-cord w/miniature d-ring's to connect 'em over the roll bar that I've had for a few years now, & Absolutely Love'em!!! I think I'd got 'em @ 4wheel Parts in Baton Rouge one day when I was in there, b/c they were green & black to match my Jeep!?!
right now i’m saving up and somewhat close to being able to buy some 33 inch falken wildpeak at3s and a 2.5 inch lift for my tj, and i was wondering if i should but that or spend money on a recovery kit and winch rather then that?
I'd have to say my Worst mod so far on my most current Jeep would have to be the Rubicon Express (supposed)sway bar "quick disconnects"! And next, I guess, I would have to say the most hairbrained, WTF Were You Thinking!?!? Jeep decision I've made in my life would HAVE to be telling my wife(@ that current moment), "No Honey, I'm not going to buy you that Fairly Descent(heck, lets even call it NICE) Used JK that You've found for your 1st Jeep!!! They're about to come out w/a Whole New Model!!! Hell, Didn't you just see Jeep's Big new reveal commercial during the Super Bowl the other night!?! I'll special order you one of those Nice New JL Rubicon's w/ALL the new bell's & whistles & just leave all that JK stuff to me!!!"
My jeep friends seem to like this weird "mod" but its just a plastic dick that's molded to look like there own mounted on the steering wheel to honk the horn with there mouth. He said it adds horsepower...

I'd like to suggest an awful Jeep mod: that one grill that gives the "angry" look to the Jeep. It's hideous!
They did list that one, it was on the previous episode lol.
Amen
It looks cool wym
Okay but why exactly is it hideous?
Angry birds!
Jeep rule number 4, you're not allowed to buy what you want for your jeep. Only internet expert approved parts are allowed.

I don't have a lot of mods on my jeep, but I'd say the worst mod on my jeep is cheap bumpers. The finish didn't last a week before it started rusting.

0:21 unless you have full coverage insurance on your jeep with a zero-deductible glass replacement policy included
The worst mod is 20" plus wheels with low profile tires for any off road vehicle. These are only good for mall crawling.
