    I think communication upgrades are a really good idea. Even just a simple handheld CB not everywhere you offroad has a cellphone signal. Great video!

      I always take the schrader valve core out, its the quickest, i always carry extra so if i do mess one up its no biggie, but there isnt a cheaper or faster way, and ive never messed up a valve or had one leak, maybe lucky but its not that big deal.

    Great list and covers the stuff most don’t think about, you are building an entire package that never ends.. I found it it great to start small and upgrade as you max out your stock limits. The best mod I ever did that isn’t a mod at all was to put a sticker on my dash that reads “REMEMBER STUPID YOU HAVE TO DRIVE THIS HOME! Those words in my head have saved me thousands of dollars over time, especially running stock by yourself and stopping to think if I go down here, can I make it back out? Also if I try to drive through this and get stuck, can I reach something to hook onto to pull myself out? As I progressed I started buying recovery gear first then winch and bumper and moving onto lifts, wheels/tires rock sliders and armour/lockers etc. But I think everyone should see what their rig will do bone stock just so you can see what Jeeps are capable of, it really surprises most people.
    Also have to see how much wheeling and what type of wheeling you will be doing before you go dropping money on tires that are great for one terrain but terrible for where you are always going.

    I bought the 2.5 inch rc lift , just basic one , springs and shocks. And I find it rides ok. Especially with the added weight of front and rear bumpers , but I think what a lot of people don’t do is ad the important suspension parts that don’t come with the kit and that’s the issue. But as long as u are aware that u need to purchase other parts it’s a decent lift in my opinion...... so far lol

    Great summary of how to get your Jeep ready for the off road. I especially liked the insight of figuring what gears and lockers you may want along with possibly a larger axle first. But you didn't mention ,NOT telling your spouse ,all the upgrades and costs these Mods will amount to over the years! HA HA. Art

    So glad I saw this video! Great job! I'm about to upgrade my suspension, you mentioned both brands I'm looking at.. RK and Metalcloak.. but first I'm putting together some recovery gear.. then bumpers, just because a couple of months ago I was rear ended in my 2010 RHD JKU.. sadly it was totaled.. so yeah, bumper before suspension 😁

    I got a light bar before lockers! I camp and fish on the beach often!
    I got the Angry Eye grill, for HATERS ONLY!
    I love and enjoy my JKU to the point I often Sleep in it. I fold my 60 seat down and pitch a sleeping bag, built a shelf window level that I sleep under while having a place to store camp and fishing gear, and have a clothes hang up bar behind the sound bar. My front bumper has a hitch for my fat tire ebike mount and a winch for back-up. I'm accessorized and a favorite for haters but JEEP is what you make it, it's originality and personal in form and function.

    If you have money to burn, have at it with mods, but most are on a budget. Only had my jku sport for a month, but I have a winch and bumper, and recovery gear. Probably work on sliders next. My thoughts on what I need were redirected after watching a bleep8n jeeps episode recently. Watched a built Bronco on 40's struggle, and roll. Watched a jku on D60's and 40's struggle, and a $3k Cherokee with D30 and D35 on 33" tires have an easier time making hard obstacles than the big $$ builds through good driving and line selection. Spend how you will, but the most important upgrade, and the cheapest, is between your ears. Drive smart!

      Good LORT haha! So most videos that are unedited have a certain "look." The colors don't pop, it's a little desaturated blah blah blah. This video in particular, the reds are very pleasing to the eye. It's a long winded compliment haha

    • @JKGearandGadgets
      @JKGearandGadgets  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Your so extra. So sophisticated, a man with eyes like Picasso! Haha just messing, but thanks for the compliment. Idk how that happened, shot it with my iPhone and no color editing was done. Some say the light reflects off my skin like an angel, so that could be what’s creating the color grading

    Man your videos are awesome and entertaining. You've given me a bunch of great ideas and cost me a few dollars with the new upgrades from them, thanks lol. I just finished cutting up my hood and installing the Hyline hood lovours, I never would've done it without your encouragement. I'm on the path to lose some weight next. Running an AEV full width front bumper and Rampage rear with tire carrier. Running 37s so I want to lose the spare and down size to a stubby front and body width rear. What front bumper are you using? I like the size and look of it. Any suggestions or "stay away from that one"? Again thanks for your videos and keep em coming!

    • @JKGearandGadgets

      Thanks for watching! And as for front bumpers. There are a lot to choose from on the market, I’ve loved my motobilt hatchet (currently running) but I will be changing it up very soon. I can’t give away details since the new bumper I’m going with is still in devolpoment, but I can say that if they pull it off it will be the first of its kind and would be worth the wait.

    Hello Ben I’m happy you posted another vid. Love your Channel. I have couple of questions for you. 1st I running 37 with 4.88 in thinking down grading to 35 I’m 12 jku auto wondering if it will be a good move. 2nd I’m searching for more info on ford 8.8 for my from and Chevy14 bolt for the rest need your opinion on this. Thank you buddy keep it up .

    • @JKGearandGadgets
      @JKGearandGadgets  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The 37s and 4.88s are a good gear/tire match for you. 35s will bring your rpms up a few hundred on the highway. I would suggest borrowing someone’s 35s for a day and seeing how you like it. As for the 8.8, that is a rear axle generally used on TJ rear axle swaps, will not work in the front of your Jk. And for the rear 14 bolt, it is a 1 ton 8 lug axle. Very beefy but also requires a ton of work to go into the swap, I am doing an axle swap soon and will be talking about everything you need to do.

      I love the 4.0 in my XJ, great engine. But I will say I’ve seen quite a few JKs getting above 200K and still trucking

    Not really a mod, a Jeep has to have a name. I just bought a 2014 JKU Sahara and it came with 33X12.5-20 Achilles MXTs on it. Not sure if I like them yet. I’m mainly going to be in the sand or on wooded trails. My first mod was LED headlights I got from a buddy at work and I have ordered a 2pc sunshade so my kids don’t get fried and a set of grab bars, I hate pulling on the steering wheel to get in. Looking at getting a set of rock slider steps that mount to the body mounts.

    In Canada, running a truck with front exposed tires (short bumper with nothing in front of the tire) and tires extending beyond the fenders will get you a fine and/or impound. Those doors won't cut it with the nice policeman or vehicle inspector either. And the real fussy ones may write you up if the headlights don't have a Canuck legal rating. In some countries (Chile in the mid 1990s) banned front mounted winches as a risk to pedestrians. But they also seldom looked for seatbelt infractions cuz no one used them.
    One question. What do you do when you slice a sidewall? I think a spare tire should make the list of essential equipment...don't you?

    Tips for better night time lights? My TJ rubicon doesn’t get bright at all and I don’t know if I should spend $500 on a good 50” light bar or just some good pods or what? I plan on putting LED headlights on soon but I’m sure that’s not gonna be enough for the night time. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

      Led headlights will make the world of a difference! Do that first, then add accessory led pods as needed

    What about a tire carrier rear bumper. I dont feel confident not having a spare.

      They are nice for 37s and below. But even 40s are pushing it on a carrier unless you upgrade to a genright style carrier and those are too bulky for my liking.
