Just got this bike the other week and have been enjoying it a ton! I had to get the XL frame since im a bigger dude - so too bad I missed out on the last call deals! I found the saddle to be too hard so I threw on an Ergon SMC and plan to change the tires to Gravelking SS soon!
I just got one of these on the lastcall deal. What a great bike for $499 shipped. I've upgraded the tires to a pair of Goodyear 2.6" Tubeless for bombing singletrack. I am impressed with the Advent X groupset, it shifts really nice. The only thing I hate is these brakes. I'm going to try to upgrade to compressionless brake cable housing to see if it helps. But, overall, I love it.
Congrats on the score! Yeah, great bike for the $. Concerning the brakes, yeah- you’re not going to lock them up. But, if you’re coming from cantilevers you’ll never know what you’re missing.
I have the M/L gold flake black and the bike fits me perfectly, maybe a little bit longer stem will help, road style bikes have always felt a little cramped to me. Bikes are truly adjustable to fit people compared to the old handlebar stem going into the fork days… complaints about the seat? One of he things most people will change anyway. For $499 as a “starting point”, you can’t buy most framesets for even close to that price and you can ride this around while you figure out what you really want. Most framesets are a lot more expensive and like you said, you won’t be brought to tears when you scratch the paint.
Jason, I had been seriously considering the Poseidon Redwood in Deep Cherry color, but they ran out of stock in the large, so put it on the back burner. Couple months later I get the "Last Call" email from Poseidon with the Black Flake color offered in large. Good enough for me and for a total of $541 with tax I couldn't resist. Although a dyed in the wool gravel bike, I did make it a tad more road friendly with a higher and slightly longer adjustable stem and Serfas Drifter 2.0 tires. For the price, an incredible value. In addition: The seat is hard. Frame sizing is a bit confusing on Poseidon's web site. In the end, even after talking to a Poseidon rep, I decided to go with my gut instinct. I'm 5' 11" with an inseam of 33" and opted for the large frame. Glad I did. However, it did come with a very short stem which did feel cramped. But these are creature comforts: Seat, stem and tires. Everyone is different.
Sounds like we came to the same conclusions on the stem and saddle! Thanks for chiming in. Just took my first spin with my cycling shoes and the Crankbrothers Mono Pedals and am very happy with that upgrade.
Sizing is definitely a little wonky. I'm 5'11" and got a medium. Ended up with a 90mm +17 stem to get the size right (stock was 70mm +7), a large might have fit more naturally. That being said, I've come to enjoy the small frame. It feels more nimble and easier to chuck around on single track. For $500 I'm chuffed. I've put new pedals, saddle, and tires and am pretty content. New wheels would be a welcome upgrade but I have to tell myself the whole point was that the bike was cheap lol. I'll wait till the stock ones eat it, or a screaming deal comes along.
@@CanItAlready Now I’ve watched two. I’m sure it has its place in the market. Not in the same class as the Redwood though. But that’s ok, I’m sure either will leave you with a smile after a good ride.
Go to Poseidon’s website. Just under the main pic there is a link for “Last Call”. $499 with Code “LASTCALL”. In my case I added it to the cart and left it there overnight, thinking about it and doing more research. They emailed me a $100 off coupon and that convinced me to click “check out”. Glad I did. Lots of bike for the money!
Ha! Probably depends on the dog, but Chewy goes with me on easy trails inside a backpack with his head poking out. Nordic skiing too. When I took that pic, I just went a couple miles, super chill, so he was just running along beside me.

I’ll have to check out that saddle and those tires, thanks!
@@akelley5963 I went with the Forest Green looking one. I think it looks nice

Thinking a boy getting one. How tall are you?
6-1, long torso. Probably should have gone XL, but L works.
Have you seen the new ozark trail gravel?
Watched a review, they weren’t too impressed. The Redwood is definitely in a whole other class, much better bike for the $ from what I saw.

The cheapest I can find this rig for is 779 where’d you get it for 5?

If you haven’t bought one yet, they’re on sale right now for $699. Use code “SUMMER”✌️
