2024 Bear 100! 🐻💯
Finished just BEAR-ly under 32 hours. Things went pretty well, had some back pain on the downhills on the 2nd half of the course which slowed me down a bit. Landed three fish along the way. Beautiful (but hot) conditions! Thanks to all the volunteers and my wife for crewing me.

13hrs for an R3 is no joke! Outstanding job Jason! Nice catch, seeing that GC Rattler. I had one strike at me, while running an R2, about 200m from north entrance of Phantom, mid-Aug '23. It was around a blind left corner, and I couldn't hear the rattle because of all the Cicadas buzzing in the trees. At the last minute, nearly adjacent to it, I saw movement out of the corner of my eye. It was buzzing loudly, racked itself backward into a Z shape and struck at me. I was running at a pretty good pace through that section, and l launched myself to the right, outjumping it. Last thing I saw was that open, white, mouth, flying word my left thigh.
@@austinado16 Yikes!! I’m going to have nightmares tonight 😬
I own a Redwood, I absolutely love it😁😁😁
boring story
To you
well for a boring person it can seem like it:D
Happens to O Crow a minimum of 3 times a week 🙄
Holy crap! Good choice! That’s scary…
WTF 😮😮😮😮
Good intuition!
WTH 😮
Thinking a boy getting one. How tall are you?
6-1, long torso. Probably should have gone XL, but L works.
Great build!
Sizing is definitely a little wonky. I'm 5'11" and got a medium. Ended up with a 90mm +17 stem to get the size right (stock was 70mm +7), a large might have fit more naturally. That being said, I've come to enjoy the small frame. It feels more nimble and easier to chuck around on single track. For $500 I'm chuffed. I've put new pedals, saddle, and tires and am pretty content. New wheels would be a welcome upgrade but I have to tell myself the whole point was that the bike was cheap lol. I'll wait till the stock ones eat it, or a screaming deal comes along.
I have the M/L gold flake black and the bike fits me perfectly, maybe a little bit longer stem will help, road style bikes have always felt a little cramped to me. Bikes are truly adjustable to fit people compared to the old handlebar stem going into the fork days… complaints about the seat? One of he things most people will change anyway. For $499 as a “starting point”, you can’t buy most framesets for even close to that price and you can ride this around while you figure out what you really want. Most framesets are a lot more expensive and like you said, you won’t be brought to tears when you scratch the paint.
Great feedback, thanks!
Have you seen the new ozark trail gravel?
Watched a review, they weren’t too impressed. The Redwood is definitely in a whole other class, much better bike for the $ from what I saw.
@@jasonwoodenOnly one review?
@@CanItAlready Now I’ve watched two. I’m sure it has its place in the market. Not in the same class as the Redwood though. But that’s ok, I’m sure either will leave you with a smile after a good ride.
Dude!! You caught a fish this race? This is legendary tier. I ran this year too… in crocs 😂
You win! 😂
@@jasonwoodenthis video does an outstanding job of capturing the race. I hope you shared with Tim. Thank you for posting 🙏
What a 😊 life ❤
Beautiful sweetheart 🥰🥰🥰🥰
Where do you keep your dog? I want to go mountain biking with my small dog but need advice
Ha! Probably depends on the dog, but Chewy goes with me on easy trails inside a backpack with his head poking out. Nordic skiing too. When I took that pic, I just went a couple miles, super chill, so he was just running along beside me.
@@jasonwooden love it!
Good stuff! Love that spot
I just got one of these on the lastcall deal. What a great bike for $499 shipped. I've upgraded the tires to a pair of Goodyear 2.6" Tubeless for bombing singletrack. I am impressed with the Advent X groupset, it shifts really nice. The only thing I hate is these brakes. I'm going to try to upgrade to compressionless brake cable housing to see if it helps. But, overall, I love it.
I just got one in Shadow Black on last call as well. What a freakin STEAL !!! I love my Redwood, I'm having so much fun with it.
Congrats on the score! Yeah, great bike for the $. Concerning the brakes, yeah- you’re not going to lock them up. But, if you’re coming from cantilevers you’ll never know what you’re missing.
@@StevenVPhotography Excellent! Enjoy!
The cheapest I can find this rig for is 779 where’d you get it for 5?
Go to Poseidon’s website. Just under the main pic there is a link for “Last Call”. $499 with Code “LASTCALL”. In my case I added it to the cart and left it there overnight, thinking about it and doing more research. They emailed me a $100 off coupon and that convinced me to click “check out”. Glad I did. Lots of bike for the money!
Awesome! Thanks!
If you haven’t bought one yet, they’re on sale right now for $699. Use code “SUMMER”✌️
Just got this bike the other week and have been enjoying it a ton! I had to get the XL frame since im a bigger dude - so too bad I missed out on the last call deals! I found the saddle to be too hard so I threw on an Ergon SMC and plan to change the tires to Gravelking SS soon!
Color?
I’ll have to check out that saddle and those tires, thanks!
@@akelley5963 I went with the Forest Green looking one. I think it looks nice
Jason, I had been seriously considering the Poseidon Redwood in Deep Cherry color, but they ran out of stock in the large, so put it on the back burner. Couple months later I get the "Last Call" email from Poseidon with the Black Flake color offered in large. Good enough for me and for a total of $541 with tax I couldn't resist. Although a dyed in the wool gravel bike, I did make it a tad more road friendly with a higher and slightly longer adjustable stem and Serfas Drifter 2.0 tires. For the price, an incredible value. In addition: The seat is hard. Frame sizing is a bit confusing on Poseidon's web site. In the end, even after talking to a Poseidon rep, I decided to go with my gut instinct. I'm 5' 11" with an inseam of 33" and opted for the large frame. Glad I did. However, it did come with a very short stem which did feel cramped. But these are creature comforts: Seat, stem and tires. Everyone is different.
Sounds like we came to the same conclusions on the stem and saddle! Thanks for chiming in. Just took my first spin with my cycling shoes and the Crankbrothers Mono Pedals and am very happy with that upgrade.
@@jasonwooden Oh ya, changed out the pedals for SPD's.
Hello...WEB link to buy bindings/boots ?
I just checked Rottefella’s website, says available in the Fall from select retailers. They warned me it won’t be cheap!

Great video, Jason, and a great day of skiing with wonderful company. Wish I'd have arrived in Cache Valley ten years before I did but feeling blessed to be here now.
Well done. Keep on keepin on.
Great tips Jason!!
Is it fpr sale yet?
nice build. thanks for sharing
Nice build, what size struts (weight) did you use?
Were you telemarking? Haven't see or done that in near forty- years!
You can use ratchet straps to clamp your corner angle pieces, you can clamp all four at once.
Safety glasses when cutting buddy...nice work! When working with VHB, you are right, you need a jig or registering guide. Clamp some paint stir-sticks at the corners, place the panel on, clamp it at one end. Then get someone to hold up the other end, peel off the protective layer on the tape, drop the panel and you have one square side. Bob's your Uncle. Cheers!!!
.....BUT THE BALL?! 😆
What a great build. Like your video. What is the extended length and force of your gas struts? Thank you.
And where do you get those gas strut? Thanks again.
@@freemanlin3777Thanks! Right here: SUSPA C16-02622 Gas Spring 28 Lb Force Per Prop, Set of 2 a.co/d/b5fSwe9
Solid tips! Those dogs looked happy too!
Just curious how much deflection do you get from the floor over the cab? Do you have any worries with where not being any crossmembers in the max panel?
I was worried at first but all your weight is…in the butt, which is supported over the space frame. No signs of deflection so far. Just supporting the weight of your legs and feet I guess. Other wedge campers are the same design. Thanks for watching and for the question!
Do you have any regrets not going 1545for the bottom rail? I’m thinking maybe going 1530 on bottom and top to get more room closed but so save 300-400 by not going 1545.
@@scottfischer6858 Nope! Like you said, less $ and also lower profile (faster delivery too from T-Nutz). Haven't had any issues getting bedding to fit in there. I usually leave the sleeping bags and inflatable pads up there with the memory foam, but take down the blankets and pillows to store below. If you had a really thick mattress system you might want to go 1545.
Really enjoyed this vid. Having looked at other builds using wood , your's seems more in line with what I would do. Would you mind sharing the name and supplier of the material used for the side walls and roof? Also, did you wrap the material or did you paint it? Thanks in Advance.
It’s Aluminum Composite Material. Lots of manufacturers, check with your local sign shop. I barely got by with three 5x10 panels. Yes, it’s wrapped.
Any chance you would share your plans for the camper or tips? I’m starting to build one next week.
Sweet! I posted a 3-video series here on my channel of the build. Between that and following Ripcord’s Tacoma Build you should be able to figure it out. I hesitate to provide plans because that’s half the fun; making it your own camper to meet your own needs! That’s my #1 advice. #2 is to commit to working on it every, single day. No matter how small a task, do not stop working on it every day until it is finished!
Hey, I've never skied the wellsvilles before, any chance your going this winter? I'd like to go with someone who knows which line to ski?
what a fun build, im wondering if I can reverse engineer this and make it out of Wood and Coroplast. or maybe pvc pipe and coroplast for a version that can break down for storage... hmm wheels are turning
Outstanding work and video. Can’t wait to see the tent side walls go in.😊
Thanks! Episode #3 is 99.9% done. Maybe drooping next week?
Great to follow your build process! - But at 14:00 your dog really asked you to play with him! 😀
Looking forward to your next part.. ❤
Great narrating voice and nice & easy to listen to - awesome build so far 🎉❤😊
Nice! Going there this weekend.
Catch any fish?
Looks like downhill. 😂 Gladly stack your crapiator against my 1500 anyday.
If I needed a 1/2 ton pickup I would have bought a 1/2 ton pickup. Instead, I just pull them to safety. BTW, Google says Red Mt. Pass is an 8% grade (that's 8' of rise for every 100' of travel for those who didn't make it through High School). Nice to know the Gladiator made it look so easy you thought it was flat!
My half ton has pulled more weight up bigger hills
I would hope so. I bet your d!ck is bigger too?
Nice!
Good job
