  • I’m playing the Baby Bluesbreaker combo reissue with 8 amazing guitars. Finally I think I did this great amp justice. The guitars are:
    1969 Epiphone Olympic
1969 Fender Stratocaster Custom Color Black
    1967 Mosrite XII Sunburst
2002 Gibson Les Paul CC Collectors choice Gary Rossington
2021 Gibson SG Standard 1961 CS Custom Shop
    202X Fender Jag-Stang
    202X Fender Telecaster Chrissie Hynde
    20XX Sonnemo Master Relic
I recorded this at Simon Karlsson’s shop Musikbörsen in Gothenburg using an Electrovoice RE10 close mic and a Sennheiser MD21 Room mic through an Apogee Quartet sound interface into a Mac book pro with Cubase 9.5. I use the onboard phaser and cloner on some short sections.

    0:00 Intro
    0:58 - 1969 Epiphone Olympic
    1:34 - 1969 Fender Stratocaster
    1:57 - 1967 - 1969* Mosrite Mark XII (no "Ventures" logo)
    2:11 - 2021 Gibson SG Standard 1961 CS
    2:39 - 2002 Gibson Les Paul CC
2:59 - Sonnemo Master Relic (Fender Stratocaster HSS type.)
    3:12 - 202x Fender Jag-Stang
    3:35 - 202x Fender Telecaster Chrissie Hynde
    4:05 - 1969 Epiphone Olympic
    4:42 - 1969 Fender Stratocaster
    5:19 - 1969 Epiphone Olympic
    6:22 - 202x Fender Jag-Stang
    6:59 - 2021 Gibson SG Standard 1961 CS
    7:38 - 2002 Gibson Les Paul CC
7:59 - 1969* Mosrite Mark XII (no "Ventures" logo)
8:33 - Sonnemo Master Relic (Set to Neck Pickup.)
    9:09 - 1969 Fender Stratocaster
    11:29 - 1969 Epiphone Olympic
    11:42 - 1969 Fender Stratocaster
    * The Mosrite is likely to be in that year range.
I think the Mosrite could be EQ'd better. I know that would be changing settings, and I'm not suggesting to change settings for a video like this. But as a Mosrite fan, this probably wasn't the best tonal example of them. I play my 1966 Mosrite in a Fender amp, and I have no experience playing it through a Marshall.
And I know that the Mosrite is a 12 string, but if you make another video with it, please try tuning i better if that's possible to do. Maybe the strings were old.
    Other personal thoughts:
I never knew that the Epphone Olympic existed, and I like it. I knew of the Epiphone Crestwood and Epiphone Wilshire, but not the Epiphone Olympic.
The Jag-Stang sounded bad to me. The Stratocaster, Telecaster, and Sonnemo sounded good to me.
The Gibsons were also good, although they're not normally what I go after.

You were definitely connecting well between you the guitar and the amp. Really good touch to your playing. The Epiphone sounded good which surprised me the most as I used to own one back in 1974 and I didn't like the sound of it. Overall, the amp sounded good, but I Liked the "Dirty Shirley" better.

also, you could do a full demo video from a 12 stringer with the 18w... there's a few 12 stringer videos with marshalls, and at least 2 of them are yours (from a Rick and a Gretsch into full stacks, but none into the small 18w... would be cool into a 5e3 too)

The Marshall 18-watt is historic, the ultimate example of untamed tube power. After a lot of research, I ended up buying a Sound City Studio 20 because it’s often compared to the 18-watt. Finally, the 1974x and the 2061x still my fabourite Marshall amps for that "small plexi" sound and the style of music I play (blues and classic rock).

This amp is a real little Rock Box and it sounds awesome. The only problem with the Marshall 1974X is that as the volume increases, it sounds better and better, and when it is at max 10, it sounds the best and then everything is in its place and as it should be. You don't need to go to 11 at that moment, because 10 sounds great. The only problem is that then everything is so loud that the drummer can hardly be heard. Did I mention that the tremolo on the Marshall 1974X is the best tremolo I've ever heard and in itself may be worth the price of the amp, thoughts on the Twin Peaks theme. And finally, the Marshall 1974X sounds best with that G12M 20W Greenback speaker. Thanks for another great video, Mr. Segeborn.

There are reasons why LP and Strat are probably the best known guitars, they both got very nice inherent qualities and works well with most amps. However, in this video I think the SG stood above the LP. I also like the Epi Olympic, very good combination with the 1974X. Pleasant sounds from all guitars, but that can of course be due to the guitarist (nice to see that you got some coffee).
Access to cool guitars and amps should be part of the human rights declaration (if it isn't already).
